Do you feel left out?

Nashville.  Disneyland for stitchers.  There should be a live video for those of us stuck at home wondering what everyone is lucky enough to see, feel, purchase.  Maybe there is, and I'm left out of that too!  One thing in particular bugs me, and it shouldn't.  But it does.  The limited edition designs and kits.  I saw one on Facebook that I would love to have.  Don't even know if I could afford it or be willing to spend an inflated amount for it.  But it is very limited.  I saw a few shops posting that all kits are now spoken for.  Do I have a shop to notify and request one?  No.  Do you?  Does it bother you to be left out?

Well snotty crabass that I am went through a boatload of freebies and smalls, easily put together a similar design, bought the little basket, and will use the money I saved to pay for Carole's (my!!!) car repair.  Not the same as the real thing, but better than nothing at all.

I have several very old Basketville buckets with lids.  I think they were called lunch totes.  Considered something for the lids years ago, changed my mind. I have various sizes with single and double handles.

Made the Rootin Tootin Bean Salad today.  If you haven't tried it, hop over to the recipe blog and do so.  SO good.

Done for the day!

Have a great weekend.
Thanks for visiting.

I totally agree about the kits. I usually don't buy them because I always change things. However, I wish you could get the one you loved. Great baskets and a yummy looking salad!

I would love to see a video as well. The limited editions are out of my budget range. Love your baskets, can`t wait to see what you do with them. I treasure the three small ones that I have. One holds my stitched needle rolls and sit in pride of place on my coffee table. :)
Happy Stitching.

You're right, the Market often makes me feel like the proverbial "redheaded step- child" or the coed who didn't get into the fancy sorority. Another one of my pet peeves are designers who want you to stitch with specialty threads and don't provide DMC conversions. On the bright side your bean salad looks delicious and you found an alternative to the kit you wanted.

I agree with the others.
The limited editions are too pricey for me.
Some of those cost as much as a small bag of groceries! lol
And some of them are sold out even before Market starts.
I guess I don't need them that bad.

Nashville? We're looking a moving in five or so years to Tennessee. In the meantime, yes, I feel left out when I don't get to go to my favorite doll shows in Texas (well, it's because we moved to AZ, so it's my fault, sort of.) Can't wait to see what you do with the baskets. Are those hard to find? I use that kind of storage all over my house.

That's the problem with these limited editions and exclusives. They try to get you to buy that way -- and sadly, it sometimes works on me. lol! I like how you work though -- go for it! I have to go try that salad. I need more fiber in my life.

I haven't had my computer available for almost 2 weeks so I was happily ignorant of the Nashville bounty. I hope to be able to go sometime, but I am happy with my current lot in life. Those baskets are fantastic. I can't wait to see how you embellish them. I love your creativity.

I understand exactly what you are speaking about. When you don't have access to the items that you feel passionate about, it is a real bummer. For so many things, there just aren't real substitutes that give you the satisfaction that the real deal does.
I just read the previous post about your latest sampler completion and it looks fantastic! I love it with the drieds because of it's color compatibility. Looks awesome to me!

Your bean salad looks very colorful and healthy. It reminds me of summer dinners outside with something cooking on the grill. Not too much longer before that can happen up your way.

I've been thinking about limited-edition charts a lot recently! It seems like every time I discover (i.e. fall in love with) a chart, it's out of print. I have eBay alerts set for several, but when any of them pop up, the price is usually crazy!

Imagine being a shop at Market, waiting in line and then finding out all the LE kits are sold and you can't get them to take home to your very unhappy customers. I know the LE's were started to attract shop owners to Market when there wasn't a big internet presence. Now, I'm not sure why they still do it except to build up excitement and create a supply/demand frenzy.

Hiya Marly ~ If April the giraffe can get herself a live webcam for her birthing, why can't we get one for Nashville Market, a webcam, not a birthing lol! Imagine living IN Nashville... but you don't own a shop... standing at the portico... peering into the lobby... gazing up at the many levels of rooms... now that would hurt! Have a great weekend:)

I still haven't gotten over the fact that I just can't waltz into the market and see it all and pick out all that I want for myself!! I would still pay retail price!

Love your baskets and your sampler. I agree with Sandra from texas all those specialty threads that are in so many designs. It's pricey to keep buying all those specialty threads. It's a gripe of mine. Your beans look yummy.
I love the snow on the pines.

I overheard in WTNT's suite, that it had to do with their ability to get the baskets. That's why the kits were so limited. They felt really bad that they ran out so quickly.
Remember folks, designers are people just like everyone else. If you want DMC conversions on the pattern, let your designer know. If it isn't there, contact your designer, maybe they will work one up. If not, what have you lost?
Lots of LNS will take preorders of what you want and gladly bring it home for you.

I'm right there with you! Wish I was a fly on the wall!

It was crazy in that booth! WTNT were handling the orders quite professionally......if only the same could have been said about some of the customers! I had to walk away before the devil came out of my pocket and said something I would have really regretted later on! I came back a few hours later and we all had a very nice chat!
I am VERY lucky to get to go to market ...... I teach at a shop, work there in some capacity, and have other connections to it so I get to tag along. It is certainly stitchers Disneyland for this old lady.
