Greetings! Hope you all had a wonderful week. I was in crying jag mode for days! Memorial Day hit me hard this year but I was even bawling when I heard babies crying! Well, I usually do anyway. That always bothers me especially when an idiot child mother is telling her baby to shut up. Moving on.....I was at the greenhouse picking out flowers when I stretched to take down a heavy hanging basket from over the display. That did it. The loose vertebrae in my neck must have moved a little because the arms and hands were tingling for several days. No stitching, that's for sure. But I'm much better today and I'm tearing into Lucy. I did finish that vase and all those wonky stems and flowers, the fence, lettering on the left, and border around the second house. I guess the break did me some good because I am so anxious to stitch now. I'll show you Lucy tomorrow, but I wanted to tell you how my frustration sometimes leads to good things!
My galvanized tubs are all over the place and after tripping over one, I picked it up and slammed it over a shepherd's hook. Voila. Love it. All you need is the tub, a low hook, and a 10" hanging basket with hanger removed. I plan on moving the wheelbarrow from the front door and setting up this display instead. You could also just load it with dirt and plant several varieties. This got a little heavy after watering so I stuck a rock under it for support. I didn't like it on the higher hook.
Wiring the handle to the hook would help with swaying from the wind. You probably have already seen this done or done it yourself, but it's new to me and I like it! I was able to get set up at the garage with a few items,
and we finished laying the barnstones to complete the area around the concrete, which no one showed up to do.
It's not as hard to do heavy chores with tingling arms as it is to do detailed work.
And a final note of embarrassment.
I was rushing (as usual) to get a few groceries and stop at the nursery for a few shrubs. Couldn't decide which shoes to wear since the gravel is hard to walk on and usually muddy. Both pair hurt but I wouldn't be gone long. Which look better with my varicose veins? I slipped on one of each, and then answered the phone. Distractions are not good. I went for groceries first. When I walked into the outdoor nursery, I looked down to make sure I wasn't stepping in the mud and saw this..
I'm a frequent customer of this business, so they dared not mention this. If I could keep flip flops on my feet and not walk right out of them, I would have gone to the Dollar store and purchased a pair to complete my errands. The numbness must have been traveling a little too far up the arms.
So to sooth my ego, I went home and made nalaesniki.
Sweet cottage cheese filled crepes, topped with sour cream and a sprinkle of sugar. So there you have it.

Hopefully tomorrow I will return with my Lucy girl!
Hello and welcome to new followers - you made me tingle even more!
Thank you all for visiting - enjoy your day!

Marly, love your outdoor spots! Especially love the rusty paint cans! Glad you are feeling better. Can't wait to see "Lucy"!
Hope the tingles go away soon! ooOoo nalaesniki! Looks fabulous. ♥
Oh Marly!! You make me laugh! I did the same thing once with my shoes! LOL And we have this version of treat in my heritage too, we call it palacsinta! the cottage cheese filling is my favorite ( a little cottage cheese, a little egg and some vanilla sugar! yummmm)
Oh and nice shoes by the way!
Love the pail with the petunias flowing out of them! That's going to be gorgeous.
Love, love, love the work that you've done! THose barnstones are beautiful! Don't feel bad about your shoes....I went to the store with my houseshoes on...I felt so embarrassed...but now I see people doing that all the time. I love the wash tub idea...that is beautiful!
Love your landscaping skills!!! I have two empty never used paint cans my aunt decorated with wrapping paper and filled with Christmas cookies. I have kept them for three years wondering what I could do with, now I do. Thanks for the idea. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I love everything in your garden! The tub on the hook is just genius. I have had the same shoe mishap myself, I just laughed and moved along.
Oh Marly, what a hoot! I even went to work one day with mismatched shoes! Love your new planter idea - very lovely.
Love the mismatched shoes. Thanks for sharing that one. I can soooooooo identify with the distracted bit. Like they say, IF YOU CAN LAUGH AT YOURSELF, YOU WILL NEVER BE LACKING IN HUMOR.

You are my kind of girl! How clever of you to use the tubs and paint cans for gardening--wish I had thought of that myself.
Don't feel badly about your shoes, my former office manager wore two different shoes into the office and still had hot rollers in her hair! Nothing like setting a professional image!
Lol about your shoes! I could see doing that for sure! Love what you did in your yard. Very nice! Hope the tingles went away.
I SO enjoyed your gardening pictures - gave me lots of inspiration! Enjoy your day.
Great post, love your posie pics, looking good there! Hope your tingles subside. Have a great week to come, no matter what shoes you choose:)
Love the new planter -- ingenious! No worries on the shoes; I did something similar with earrings when I was a mere 20-something-year-old, was video-taped for a speech class (which is when I caught it) and then had to wonder why none of my 20 "friends" never bothered to mention it. You had more important things to worry about than something as mundane as matching footwear.
Marly ~
Love that idea with the galvanized tub! I've not seen that before and may have to steal that idea.
I am the queen of mismatched, but your shoes are just a little extreme...lol! Thanks for the laugh.
Hugs :)

Love the different arrangements of flowers, and I, too, think I might have to steal the idea with the galvanized tub and the shepherd's hook!! Hope your tingles are gone soon.... I would imagine that could get quite annoying!
Too funny about your shoes!! My husband has worn the same shoe, but different colors to work. And my mom wore her shoes on the wrong feet to my daughter's wedding!! She said she thought something didn't feel quite right.... :)
The crepes look yummy! Wish I had one right now with my cup of coffee!
I'm glad you are feeling better. I love the shoes! I bet you have 2 pair of them, huh? Your flowers all look great and I love the tub hanging on the hook. I just bought a wheelbarrow like yours last week at the flea market and filled it with geraniums. I was so tickled to find it. Those crepes look wonderful!
Love your flowers! I have had different colored flipflops on( many times). So I think this is normal. LOL!!
You are so full of creativity! I know I will have to steal a couple of these planting ideas from you. I just love the tub hanging from the hook!
I can't say as I have ever worn different shoes out before. You've got me there!
Hope you have more good tingles and less of the bad ones.
You find the most creative uses for everyday ordinary things, Marly--I just love what you've done with the paint cans and the galvanized tubs!
And, you aren't alone--I did the same thing with wearing two different shoes a couple years ago--to work of all places!! A "kind" co-worker pointed it out and we had a good laugh. I couldn't even go home to change because it was a Saturday and I couldn't leave the library! Do you think it has anything to do with our age?!?
Hope your tingles are the good kind from now on :) Take care now!
The hook with tub is a great idea. I like the lower version also. Nice touches to the landscaping. Too funny about the shoes...if anyone noticed, it surley gave them a chuckle! The treats look fantastic.

What great outdoor projects! Can't wait to see Lucy.
Ahhh....so love your taste in shoes Miss Marly.... And, yup, been there, done that - but only for professional occasions. ;o) If you were here right now I'd give you a big smackeroo on the cheek....For 3 years I've had this "dwarf" shepherd's hook and could never figure out what to hang on it....Now I know....now to find a galvanized tub!!! And I adore your sweet lil' wheelbarrow.... Next time you get the tingles, wanna come work in my yard??? (I'll lend you my snake spear just in case....) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
Beautiful containers!!!! Your garden looks gorgeous Marly.
Sorry to hear about your arm, do look after yourself now!!
The shoes compliment each other roflol!! You always make me laugh a lot, thanks !
Have a great week :))
Oh Marly!! I am glad that you are feeling better. I think that the nalaesniki look like the perfect thing to sooth you after your outing.
I love the the tub, and you are right the shorter hook looks better. Your gardens look lovely.
Hi Marly, Another great laugh!! I have worn two different shoes to work -- getting dressed in the dark is not a good idea! love the tub with petunias...it is gorgeous. Hope your arm is feeling better and the tingles have gone away! Vera
So very sorry to hear about the problem with the vertebrae! Glad you are doing a bit better now : ) The yard is looking wonderful! You look like you have a real showplace there both inside & outside : ) The crepes would look good if they didn't have that cottage cheese in them. I have never been able to deal with cottage cheese. My mother used to make crepes with grape jelly & then dust them with powdered sugar which I loved. Hmmm ... I think I need to get some eggs & make a couple of those before starting my cleansing prescription : )
Love all your flower "pots" & the simple decor at your front door & your front door. I'm looking forward to seeing your Lucy - I have her but not stitched yet. Gardening & stitching - a perfect day. Hope you're feeling better.
Your landscaping is fabulous! I will have to try the rusty bucket hanger. Love that.
You had me laughing with the shoe mishap! Oh you poor thing. I think I would have come home and eaten a pound of chocolate to feel better. :) Hope that your arms and neck and feeling better so you can enjoy your stitching.
Your landscaping is beautiful! Love your containers...what a great idea! Thanks for the laugh about the shoes...too funny. :)
Love the tubs and what a great way to recycle those old paint cans! We have plenty of those.
I know a bad neck can be awful. I hope you feel better soon.
Marly, you are so creative! You find the neatest solutions that look great. I will have to keep that galvanized bucket idea around!
I laughed at the shoe thing. I once went to work with two different earrings and didn't know till late afternoon. I said to the person next to me - didn't you notice? She said Oh I thought it was a fashion thing! ha ha.
I hope your arms are feeling back to normal soon and you can stitch!
I am so sorry you were tingly (and not in a good way) and hope you're now feeling much better. Your garden looks wonderful and I love the wash tub idea! I went to work with fuzzy slippers on one time. Thankfully, I had a store of shoes in my office. I can't blame a sore neck, back or tingly anything on that.
The crepes look like they'd be delicious.
Love how you used the tubs and paint cans! We have the same stones laying around our property -didn't know they were called barn stones, but now that I know, it's pretty obvious! Your blog is an inspiration! Glad you are feeling better (and really really love the shoes! BTDT!!)
Hey Marly :)think you have started a new trend with the shoes .... I often do it with the socks as my girls nick off with mine and then they don't turn up for weeks hehehe
love your hanging plant holders :)
can't wait to see your stitching and glad you managed to get stuff done even with the tingling etc :)
take care now .... love mouse xxxxx
LOVE the shoes!! Just shows your devil-take-care attitude to the rest of the world!! I hope you just put your chin up and DARED everyone to say something about your style choice!! ;) The crepes look yummy!!...and I love the flower filled tub.--Jan
Love your gardens. Especially that tub hanging sideways..great idea!!!!!! Take care, Janice
Hilarious about the shoes! That totally sounds like something I would do. At least you have good taste in shoes. I love them both! LOL
Your outdoor decorating is fantabulous! I love all of the neat and interesting things you use to plant your pretty things. I love making "old, new again". Just think how happy those old, rusty paint cans are now. ;0)
Sooo glad you are feeling better and were able to get a bit of stitching done.
Hugs!
I love your garden ideas!! I'm not able to plant my annuals any longer due to health issues. I was wondering how I could add some flowers and colour to my front garden besides hanging baskets. Your idea of the tins is just what I've been looking for. I'm going to steal that idea if you don't mind! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Marly, you just crack me up...love the shoes. Also, I have several of those shepherds hooks so now I'm off to find the tubs. Great idea!!!!
All of your beautiful flowers look so pretty and I can tell it's a labor of love.
Blessings!
I love how you used the tubs - and the paint cans, too.
I saw a kid with two colors of those rubber shoes in a photo the other day and thought, how cute. Why don't people think that way when it's one of "us" ? The flip flops with the thing between the toes are easier for me to keep on - I walk out of slides, too!
Hope your neck and balance get back on track. Be well!
I love the idea of the tub and hook as well. I am going to try it. Our neighbors 9 puppies will have a harder time laying on top of that than did all my flowers in my beds! AArrgg!!!
I have a wash tub with holes in the bottom as well as a short shepherd's hook. Never thought about using them together. Now here's the question: got a good deal on petunias tonight 6 pack for 49 cents and I probaby have enough dirt. How will I keep the dirt place and how full would I make it. It's a large tub.
Hi Kathy - You are "no-reply" so I can't send this. I just placed the entire pot in the bottom and I can easily remove it if I want it elsewhere. The hole in the tub needs to be at the bottom side or edge, and since it tilts back, I think the dirt would stay, but if you lay burlap, add dirt, fold it over, and then cut holes to plant the flowers, it would be fine. I also put a rock beneath the tub to stabilze it from wind and heaviness. Hope this helps!
Glad your doing better....Had a question how tall are your Shep. hooks with the flower cans on them? & Could you recommend a place to purchase them?
thanks,
Love your shoes, so new age! LOL! But adore the wash tub w/flowers. So creative, yet simple too.
I did too lol. I was driving to work one day, happened to look at the floor, lol I had my house shoes on and I wore steel toe boots to work!!!!
