Hiya. The putz did it again. I was so close to having Eunice finished when I realized I wasn't paying attention to the chart once again. I'll show you what I did and didn't do .... but first ..... my cupboard is almost done!
I've been spending a lot of time with buying removing buying changing buying sanding off the paint and all I have left is the aging wash, wax, wood latches, and knobs. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be but I'll have plenty of storage.
Eunice. Poor Eunice.
Take a look at the main chart. The dot symbol is for 310 (black) and since the over one was dots - I figured black! Wrong. Also, look at the distance between Eunice and Birchard along with an element between the two. (The white line is the fold of the chart which is done on tan paper and kind of hard to read.)
This is the over one graph printed beneath the main graph.
It clearly shows the symbol of the required color but I didn't double check because I assumed it was black. Any other symbol would not fit in the tiny space so of course a dot would be used on the main graph. Pay attention! I also didn't catch that there is no element and certainly not the space required between the two names as shown on the main chart. But I wasn't paying attention and continued to follow the over one graph without checking the main graph, stitching "aged 13" right beneath "sampler" which is also wrong. Look at the main graph putz! So I had to remove "Birchard", the sampler line was fine, and also removed the "aged 13" line. Not easy on over one for me even though it is only 30 count. The black floss left a nice smudge so I used my duct tape to remove the fuzz and it looks pretty good now. I should have been finished but once again, my lack of focus and patience cost me. I decided to keep it all in 310 since I would have had to remove "Eunice" as well. When will I learn? I'll bet Lucy is shaking her head.
I'll end with mushball Bud playing kissy face with his girlfriend who is his baby momma. Does anyone else find that term disturbing? I do. Very much. But this baby momma will no longer be having babies. Bud bathes her and she just lays there enjoying. She has no shame.

It's so easy to make those sorts of errors, but the over one makes it that much worse. Bummer! I love your cupboard though. It's huge!!
Ooof I would have been confused too and done the same thing! It's so easy to make errors and I make a lot of them!! Love your cupboard and your kitties. I have to laugh at the term baby momma!!
You know what? I think I would have done the same thing on ole Eunice~~ Easy for that to happen on the over ones.....
Can I just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE that wonderful cupboard...! Your distressing is impressive!
Have a great weekend, Faye
Oh, my, that cupboard is fantastic! It absolutely looks like the real thing...you did a wonderful job aging it.
Love Eunice, the colors are so warm, I find that sometimes the simpler the sampler, the more likely I am to make mistakes. I have messed some up so badly that I just had to throw them away!

Hi Marly, I also LOVE that cupboard, it`s a real beauty. Eunice will come along good, she will.Sweet kiddies to. Blessings Francine.
I love what you've done with your cupboard. We've all made mistakes, but I'm so sorry it happened to you on the over one section. No fun taking out over one.
Your cupboard is wonderful. I do love that old red color!!! As far as the chart, I can see from the comments that everyone agrees with me , we would have done the same thing!!!
So sorry the frog came to visit Eunice :( but your cupboard looks primed and ready to go (ok, that was a corny joke, but I love corn). I can't wait to see your progress on both of them.

Great old cupboard. I'm a new follower and back at some stitching after a few years break.
Oh, I love your cupboard as well. You are doing a wonderful job with it. It should look perfect in your home.
You know, I think that I would also make the same mistake. I always find that it is very easy to make a mistake on hand drawn charts especially when symbols are very similar. I find that when I have to undo over ones, that it is easier to do it from the reverse side, if that helps. - Sandra.
So sorry to hear of your mistake. I have done that myself on charts when there is over one and over two graphs. Thanks for the info about the duck tape. I didn't know about that. I recently made a mistake kind of like yours using a red thread. Just as bad as black.
Like everyone else, I think your cupboard is fabulous. Did you say earlier where you will put it?
My male and female cat use to groom each other at times. I loved to watch them, it was so sweet.
What a wonderful cupboard! I think we all need many of those to store our "treasures" (note I didn't say junk), and then close the door so no one notices how much stuff we have! As for the mistakes, all I can say is, I've been there. Too many times. It seems I spend more time ripping than I do stitching. I have been trying to use my magnetic board and ruler so that my eye doesn't skip to the wrong line. Not sure it's helping, but I need to use it longer to make sure. Fortunately, there is no cross stitch police to inspect our work, LOL.
Oh my goodness, Marly, I love your cupboard!! And don't beat yourself up over the mistakes on Eunice! It doesn't look like the easiest chart to read and we all have probably done the same kind of thing. :) Bud and his girlfriend (don't care for baby momma either - cringed just typing it) sure are sweet!
Swooonnnn....GORGEOUS cupboard Miss Marly! You've got your distressing down to a perfect science it appears. One would be hard pressed to tell that isn't an original finish. As for Eunice....Yikes....Guess I didn't realize there would be separate charts for over-ones. (Yeah, I'm a real sophisticated stitcher....) I just had some worry worts forming when you said her name was Eunice way back when you decided on what project to do next. That's my sister's name....and well, I'd say the name fits. :o (Sweet kitty photos.....Wish my two kitties got along so swimmingly.....) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
Marly, your cupboard is beautiful. What a fabulous finishing job - looks so old! Could you share your "aging" technique and what paint you used? Hang in there with Eunice - we all have done the same thing - just call it a "God's Eye" - who will ever know unless you to tell them.
Oh my!! That is one beautiful cupboard!!
Have a wonderful day~Becky
