but still too much. And I left two trees in the attic! My trees are small, the biggest is the six foot with the Santas, but it's still becoming a real chore to decorate them. Do you follow the same scheme every year? I think if I did, it would be a lot easier than changing things every year. Next year may be fresh greens on cupboard doors and shelves, pomanders, no trees. Who am I kidding.
This little tree was a tall alpine last year and I pulled the trunk off the stand, cut a foot off, trimmed the branches by several inches, and I like it now. With all the PS Santas on one tree, I simplified the mantel this year. Instead of spreading the other smalls around, I hung them from the large basket.
How? These are all .... what the heck do you call little puffy things that can't hang ..... tucks? Pillows? Little puffy things?

I have all the gifts bought and finally found a cup holder for my cousin's wheelchair that is stable and sturdy, plus other accessories to make it easier for her. I had everything shipped direct to CA so that's taken care of.
I can't wait until Frazier is back on at night and Lucy in the morning. The new comedies are not funny to me. I guess I'm just old, but their situations and constant mention of smoking weed are so gratuitous and really not funny. Give me Frazier and Raymond and Seinfeld and MASH and Cheers, back when writers had talent and networks didn't have agendas. I wish Hallmark would run Gleason's Honeymooners once in a while. Yes, I'm old!
Thank you all for taking time to visit and welcome to new followers!
Hope your week is going well.

I like the "puffy things" in the basket. Looks very nice above the mantel. Your decorating looks great. I am still not done (said I'd be simpler this year). Maybe I will quit now while I am at that simpler point but I keep thinking of things that I have that are too cute to keep in the basement.

Beautiful decor, & I agree with you about the old comedies : )
Safety pins...brilliant!!! Honestly - you are a genius!!
beautiful christmas decoration♥
I love your basket idea. I wrote you last year and told you how beautiful your postman Santa is, he still is.... Try watching Netflix or You tube, a lot of good old shows on there now. No TV for me anymore. Your home is lovely, hopefully you can get that kitchen done soon!
Everything looks gorgeous, Marly! You have a wonderful sense of decorating. It's amazing to me the number of Santas you have stitched over the years!
Thanks for the tips about using the pins for hanging. I'll have to keep that in mind.
I like your idea about hanging the Pillow/tuck/ stuffy things, great tip. I had to laugh, my husband watches Mash every day. I think part of why he watches is cause he is visually impaired and he can remember from days gone by what is happening on the screen. I totally agree with your choices for TV, not a lot on these days that is worth watching.Love your style of decorating.
You decorating is gorgeous! As is your house, your ideas, about everything about you is top shelf! :)
I'm sort of jealous, I think :) But in a really good way!
Great idea for hanging pillows. I've also stitched some PS Santas, you can see them on my blog. MASH was very popular in Italy too, when I was a child together Love Boat and some other soaps like Dallas o Dinasty. Love
This post is sounds so like me. I say it will be simple, just greens and a simple 2-3 trees. Than all bets are off as Mrs. Claus goes to the attic and starts going through ornaments to donate to the only child's house separate from the only son-in-law's (currently)house and somehow finds that yes I do need almost all of the red ornaments because red is so cheerful-beautiful-redie-bright-scandanavian at Christmas and they should have their own box and then oh yeah, I'll put all of the iciciles and red on one tree and the cross stitch on another, and the characters on another next year, and NO I CAN NOT give away my "white" Christmas decorations, oh crap hubby says "HIS ROOM" has to be cleaned up by the weekend because he might want to go in the only room that is neat and tidy in the whole house. Sigh..... I bought the Christmas Book Leisure Arts book when it came out back when some of us were born before others with the Postman to remember my father. It is so lovely to see it up again in your beautiful home and that you so much for the safety pin idea because if there is anything I hate worse than plastic wrappings, it is tape that won't come off and putting things in permanent places. And that is why I can't find anything and can not accomplish very much. But I know I can come to Samplers and Santas and see lots of things done and dream! Merry Merry Christmas!
I kept it simpler this year. So much easier!!
Looking great over there!
Love Everything Marly!

What a great idea to hang those "puffy things"!!! I wouldn't have thought of that :) I. too, change my mind (about everything!!) constantly. Are you a Libra also?? Haha. I REALLY simplified things this year...I didn't do a thing except put a Christmas table runner I made on the kitchen table. Last year we went all out because our kids came from CA.
I agree on the TV programs!!
Really like the largest Santa in the basket. Can you show a close up of that and where it is from? I have live affair with Santa's as well:)
Love the decorations....
I'm so happy that I am not the only "OLD" person when it comes to tv. I do love the way your mantel looks and thanks for the great idea for hanging things.
Love your decorating! Love your trees! Love the ornies in the basket! Love it all!
Another beautiful display, Marly!
I find myself putting less and less out at Christmas time each year, Marly... It all seems like too much effort for the five of us. The boys don't seem to care much (of course if I didn't do anything, there would be complaints!).
Love how you've displayed the little pillows in your basket, Marly... I'm so with you on the modern comedies--ugh! Have you seen "The Middle?" So cute and enjoyable without being crude...
I'm one of your new followers. Want to say thank you for your beautiful pear patterns. I have made two so far this week - not getting anything else done! Your trees are all lovely.
Thankfully we have DVR so I can record all the great movies I want to see that are on at the wrong time, and watch them when I am ready! I remember my Dad loved the Jackie Gleason show. Milton Berle. Jack Benny. Recently someone mentioned good Christmas movies, and I mentioned Penny Serenade as a good one to watch at Christmas... it is just a good movie, like Our Vines Have Tender Grapes. Another GREAT old movie!! Love how you hung up the pillows. You are an inspiration to us all. Hugs!
Love how you hung those puffy things == Brilliant!
I agree with you on the comedies. I absolutely hate how crude the new ones are.
Ah! Safety pins! What an excellent idea. And, yes, I'm with you on old comedies.
I think your home is looking lovely. Thanks for the tips on hanging the pillows.
Hugs
My 37 year old daughter loves the older funny shows. The Middle is one of her favorites.. I guess you're not "old" after all.
Your basket full of your beautiful stitching is such a nice idea.. thank you for the idea of the safety pins and wire.
I was in a mood this year and wasn't going to even put up a tree. WELL, I got out of that mood and went all out.. I'm glad I did. Just hate to think about putting it all away.

Love your tree and mantle! And what a great idea for displaying smalls ~ love it!
your Santas are beautiful! My son and new daughter-in-law have asked me to stitch each of them a stocking for their new house/life next year, so this next year I'm calling it the year of Christmas stitching…So, I would LOVE to know where I can find the pattern of the postal Santa to add to my list lol..Thanks, and Merry Christmas :) Debbie
Great idea the basket!
Lovely decoration!!
Have great day, Evelyne
I so enjoy your blog, Marly...thank you for taking the time to share your great and helpful ideas with us and pictures of your wonderful home decor!
What great ideas! I always hated trying to sew the hanging thing into the little pillows and now never again! Enjoy your blog so much. Annie L
Hi, Marly, Your idea of using a safety pin is just genius!
Melinda
Thanks so much for the safety pin idea. I will so be using it for next Christmas. I upgraded to a 4 ft tree on an antique table when two branches of my very old full size tree broke last year. This year it is all Santas, including many PS Santa's I cross stitched. Hopefully next year I will have enough "nature" themed ornaments for a "new" theme tree.
