Hello people. I mentioned last post about how I am back to being on edge, waiting for the phone to ring. Well, she couldn't breathe again. All night. Could not lie down. She refused a trip to the ER knowing they would admit her, and she has had enough of mistakes, misdiagnoses, and near death reactions of hospital stays. If it would have progressed, she was ready to call the EMTs, but started to feel relief by morning. She is better today, just came from there after getting her groceries and low sodium Lean Cuisines so she can rest. Her very close friend passed away Saturday but it wasn't unexpected so I don't think it had anything to do with her condition. Already taking 80 mg Lasix daily.
Moving on to my question for you.
I have lots of little pillows and ornaments to hang and have this option in my mind for Hannah. The fabric is just perfect, and I picture the stitchery on a longer drawstring pouch that can be hung from a bedpost, mirror's corner, edge of a flat black TV, or .... that's enough.
Then I saw Anna Eliza Abe and the fabric is perfect to show her off. Maybe make two? Since I don't know how to make one, and haven't found any online instructions or videos, it may be best to wait and see. Rather than cut Hannah to fit now, I plan on making the pouch first. If it comes out decent, I will open the seams to sew in Hannah or attach her by hand.
Of course the pouches will look better when actually constructed, but what do you think? Either leather or a braided cord for the draw, line with a different fabric. Should I try or not?
Be honest. I can take it.

I love the idea! Looks GREAT!!

The fabrics really set off the stitchings beautifully, i'd go for it. I have a drawstring bag filled with lavender hanging up on a peg rail. Hope you sister is ok.
I am sorry Carole is suffering right now. I hope she gets a bit improved soon.
Yes, go for it! Your creations are cool.
You have a wonderful eye for just the right finishes...chosen colors set off needlework beautifully...like the pouch on a peg idea! I'm sorry for Carole's medical flare-ups...she is blessed to have you as a sister...
I love the fabrics and the choice for finishing the pieces! Prayers for you and Carole.
I hope Carole is still feeling better.
Though your fabric choices are perfect, I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of pouches. Just MHO.
Hugs :)
Lauren
Hope Carole is still feeling ok.
I really love the fabric choices and can't wait to see them all stitched up into pouches. You give me ideas for wonderful, out of the frame finishes and I love it.
I'm with Lauren. I'm afraid the pouches just aren't for me unless the cross stitch were be done on a larger piece of cloth and then made into a pouch... all the same material. Then it could be filled with stuffing or dried flowers to fill it out to see the stitching and pattern. Annie
I love the fabric with the stitches. I would go for it if I were you. I am sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she will be better very soon. How scary for you both.
So glad to hear your beloved sissy is feeling better. I like the fabric choices but am partial to the little pillows and ornaments that you make. You are so creative! Hugs from Kentucky kelley
CHF is a stink'in rotten condition. I surely understand the whole 'waiting for the other shoe to drop' feeling. That said, hope your sister is able to get through all this without hospitalization.
I like the pouches, but I struggle with colors unless they look a bit worn or even stained. When making primitive style items one can sometimes use the back of the fabric to tone the color down a bit. These colors look good and I am sure that many would like them. Just not my style. Maybe an over dye or tea stain. There I go again. Sleep well and hope for the best.
Love the stitchery and love the fabric choices but I would do pillows, pin cushions, or use the fabric as a border, but no pouches. Just personal choice.
I love those colors. If you haven't made one before, Martha Stewart has a video showing how she does it ... I'm not a Martha fan, but every once in a while, she hits a homerun.
Funny that I am commenting after Jacqueline as that is my name, too. I really like the stitchery but the pouch? I think you would be disappointed. I don't sew, only what is in my head then I do alright. I do love your stitching.
I absolutely adore this idea. Wishing Carole all the best.

Thoughts and prayers to Carole and you for your special caregiving.
In the beginning when I began stitching, it was all about framed samplers. I have 43 hanging in our home and 9 stacked in a closet. I have changed to a variety of finishes for my pieces. I have a few small pieces with buckram to stiffen and attached a small tab for hanging, a few pouches-some with stuffing, etc. For me, this provides variety and really is nice to be able to hang from doorknobs, chairs, furniture knobs. I have one that is a "pocket" with a small fabric covered book inside peeking out and two tabs attached for hanging on an old cabinet. There are bits of my stitching all over....and I personally love the look. Go for it Marly. You have such wonderful ways to choose colors in your pieces.
LOVE the colors and the stitching! Just beautiful. I say go for the pouches! Love the idea of hanging them on a peg rack and/or bed post. What a great way to mix it up, but still have your glorious stitcheries on display.
I love the idea. Go for it!
I'm not sure what kind of tutorial you're looking for, may I suggest the Twisted Stitcher blog and tutorials if you haven't found her? She's a professional finisher and has lots of ideas.
Hi Marly, been awhile since I've read any blogs, tooo much life happening. But tonight I must say as read yours, I was laughing out loud, with tears, especially the 23,000 employee sign, my Son came to my room & asked who I was talking to, & please stop laughing, he had to be up @5am... Dahh so does Mom.. Your so refreshing to read, & your brainstorming ideas are the best,,, not forgetting your creative artistic boxes, finishes, great recipes, except I can't eat cabbage,
But when I saw your arm Marly, I cringed.. My goodness, I hope it's better & the antibiotics worked.. My heart goes out to your Sister, it's such a difficult time for you both..
All the Best Marly,
Blessings
Sorry to hear about your sister. Hope she has no more of these attacks. I read your last blog post too. Drug companies are getting to be too much in every way. Ugh. The pouches will look great, I think. Go for it!
Oh, dear, your poor sister... My mom isn't doing well either, Marly, and it is so hard to watch them suffer isn't it?
I really would love to see you try a pouch. I'm sure there must be some decent how-to videos on You-tube...
I am way behind in reading my blogs... So sorry to hear about Carole, and hope she is doing better! You should go ahead and try to do the pouches...I bet you are successful! Hugs!

Love the pouch idea and your fabrics are perfect. Give it a go, I say!!
Marley hi, I love your blog and get notifications when there is a new post. I'm sorry I don't comment very often as so much of what you say strikes a cord with me especially hanging onto things and not using them. This terrible habit runs all through my life in all sorts of ways: hoarding the last few chocolates till they go off, constantly saving things for a special occasion and then that occasion never comes and most bizarrely, not reading the last book in a series as I want to save it, now that one is worrying...haha!
But I digress, I'm commenting here with a link which might be of use to you if you don't already know it.

If you scroll down you will see tutorials for a variety of drawstring bags. I can't claim the credit for finding it as I saw it a few days ago on Andrea's wonderful blog, The Craft Room..
I love the fabrics you have chosen for these lovely little samplers and think a bag is the perfect way to finish them.
