Hiya people. I started decorating and realized that my patience erodes a little more with each passing year. Surely a 100 teeny light string on a 3' tree should be manageable. I really like this little guy and he's a newbie, so I didn't position into my throwing stance, or even threaten to. The family room tree's lights are never removed so I only have to hang ornaments, and I noticed several burned bulbs which can be replaced. I'm tired of the same old ornaments, and this decorating that I look forward to each year is becoming more tedious than fun. Age? Style change? Laziness? Whatever the reason, I am putting out less every year and preferring greenery, stitched pieces, dried naturals, and tin. My feather style trees aren't even getting lights. I love the big beautifully lit and dressed trees, but I can't seem to handle the task. My mantel changed several times, I gave my sister most of the ornaments, and one 5' tree still needs lights. My front door bough is now one branch instead of several, and the buckets of greens are gone. This is the mantel today, but it probably won't be tomorrow. The artificial will be replaced with live greens that are sitting in buckets of water in the garage.
I used my little Schooler Santas and I already feel too cluttered and need to remove them and some of the fruit.
I put the newly stained ornaments on a wreath in my small kitchen and my husband said he gives them a day before they're gone. He's probably right. They will end up on the tree.
One of the doctors I worked for gave everyone an ornament from Wendell August Forge each year, and the managers received a plate. They have such beautiful items and now have jewelry also. I thought it was a great idea for an office staff - not too expensive, everyone gets the same, and the longer you work the bigger your collection! The back is stamped with the design name and year. Check out their site if you need a gift. They have ornaments with Bible verse, religious themes, angels, snowmen, Santas, military, baby, you name it. Excellent selections.
That's it. I'm done. I wanted to show a few new charts but I can't find them, nor can I remember what I really wanted to post about. I figured it would come to me when I started typing ...... ain't happening. Next time I'll make a note. I have tablets everywhere that do me no good without the pen, and I would misplace the note anyway so why bother? Flashes have been really bad again and now my eyebrows are sweating. My EYEBROWS. I need them tattooed since the waterproof pencil can't even stay on.
So have a great weekend everyone and if menobrain gets in gear, I'll post again with whatever the hell it was that I was posting about to begin with.
Stay safe! Thanks for visiting!

Ugh! Tattooed eyebrows -- ugh. I've heard of tattooing your eye liner on. But eyebrows? Just go without! My eyebrows aren't very there anymore. And I just don't care. lol! Love what decorating you've done. So pretty! I think those Santas should stay on the wreath. :D But it's up to you, of course.
Your decorating looks great! Don't be so hard on yourself. I've decided although decorating is work, I love it. We really don't have anyone over to see everything and I am starting to do the same thing each year but the decorating just makes me remember so many good times. Don't go throwing any trees and just go with what you want! Hugs and happy weekend.
Your decorating is exquisite, don't undo anything! I am thinking a few years down the road you will feel so much better. Merry Christmas....
You're not alone in the ~less is more~ department Sista! Don't ya know we're supposed to weave lovely new eyebrows with the fuzz from our chinny chin chins? Luv your mantel just as it is, really!
Your decorating is really gorgeous! I am like you, getting tired of having so much, tired of the same ol' ornies, etc. Each year we put out less, the house feels less cluttered that way, which is calming to me in a sometimes crazy, hectic season.
Well, you may be joking about having your eyebrows tattooed on, and it's not for everyone I guess...but there is a customer at my work that had hers done and it looks really nice!
xoxo

santas ornament are so lovely looking on the wreath.
oh dear i love everything so much..
sending you big hugs..keep well xx
Your mantel is breathtaking, girl: This is the stuff of Architectural Digest! We celebrate your talent, and thank you for sharing it with us. Breathe deeply; stitch. Peace to you during this busy holiday season!
I think that your decorating looks great. I know what you mean about not being happy with things or wanting to do less. I am not feeling very much like xmas this year.
I hope the flashes subside soon.
Your mantel is just georgeous! Keep up the great work!
Well. my decorating is done (for now). lol. You would probably think it is to much STUFF. lol. But you know me, I lovvvvve my stuff. I gave all my Wendell August to my daughter, have the large tree just in old ornaments. Will I regret it? probably. Talk to you soon. Patti(pjrusty)
Your decorating is always beautiful! I do very little holiday decorating anymore. I wondered too if it was age or laziness. I hope your hot flashes become fewer and farther between. Those are a real pain.
I think your mantle looks absolutely delightful, Marly--wouldn't change a thing! I do less decorating each year as I approach 60 myself. It is so overwhelming to think of having to put it all away again after Christmas...
Love Wendall August Forge--having gone to college at Grove City I received many wedding gifts from their back in the late '70s. This year each of my sons is getting the Pittsburgh view ornament.
Marly - I'm with you - decorating has become a challenge this year! I have lots of collections, but no desire to display them for what ever reason. FYI - I LOVE your mantel just the way it is - truly charming!
I agree. You are too hard on yourself!!! If only mine looked as good!!! Can't wait to see more!

Your decorations look lovely to me. But I do know what you mean, sometimes the holiday decorating is a bit of a chore (the packing up of regular decor to make way for the holiday stuff.) I don't put out as much as I used to, the clutter really gets to me, and I find myself liking more of the greenery and less of the trinkets too :)
Oh dear those tropical moments are dreadful arent they, although I must admit they are very few and far between these days for me.
Love the decoration on your mantle and i like those hips too!!
Take care.
ohhhh dear ... you have got it bad haven't you ...lol ... I must admit to not being in a decorating mood right up until the other day and now I love it but want some more greenary .... hope things settle down with the meno ... i am just starting the long process so can defo commiserate ..lol love mouse xxx
I'm simply amazing... *.*
I'm glad I'm not the only one suffering from hot flashes and CRS!
Pug hugs :)

Love, love, love your mantle!! So elegant!!
I'm glad its not just me. Every year I feel a bit like Scrooge when I just don't feel like going all-out on decorating. More and more items were staying in the tubs upstairs, and less and less fake greenery was showing up in the house. Last year I just had a bowl of beautiful pomegranates and oranges as a centerpiece.
This year at my parents house I see all the stress and arguments over putting up the lights, putting out the decorations, etc. And so much of the stuff is junky crap that should have been thrown out years ago!
I think we're both just moving forward to more simplicity and things classic pieces that can stay out year-round and just get a small seasonal update to make them seem festive.
Decorating for the holiday can truly be overwhelming. i leave the tree lights to my husband but the rest, well that's all up to me. Grrr!
You mantel is one of my favorites. I must post a picture of mine so you can see how AWESOME yours really is! Really nice job.
Ahhh, PS wreath ~ to die for.
Enjoy the holiday.
I LOVE your mantel and the wreath, too.
You are a great decorator!
Your decorating is lovely; I really love your mantel...so Colonial/Prim looking. I think we are feeling a little less enthusiastic this year about the decorating chores...but, I did get into once I bit the bullet and got started. Like you though, I keep tweeking things everyday, LOL! And, spending more money to to do...
Sweating eyebrows? That's a new one on me...and, I'm sure that it can't be comfortable. Hope things are cooler for you soon dear!
