Hi everyone. It's cold, snowy, and bitchy here today, but I hope you are all doing well. Most of the time when I can't think clearly or make a decision, it may be because I AM thinking. When I'm posting, emailing, or not paying attention, thoughts pop into my head that are usually the answer. I guess this means I'm trying too hard and over analyzing daily minutia. Case in point. When typing an email the other day, the statement that finally answers so much came freely. I told her that for years, I've been giving people a piece of my mind, which is probably why I don't have much left. Now I know where it is. Small portions are floating around the patients, clerks, co-workers, contractors, idiot mothers, pet owners, nephews, sister, cousins, friends, who were told off, told what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and why I am right. No wonder there's not much left. I think my husband has more of my mind than I do.
I completed the bargello and after one more line in the body I plan on attempting the stem stitch. I've been asked why I haven't joined Nicola's SL year. First off, I don't play well with others (see above). Second, I don't know if I will follow the pattern or change the design if I get frustrated with specialty stitches. Except for changing a color, so far, so good! Now I need to concentrate on stitching the next pear which I will start tonight. It seems to be taking me longer each month to come up with something new in this shape!
On the computer front, I ordered a new hard drive and will install the operating system myself. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I may be back to Vista! Staples techs went over what my tech did ( the very polite kid I thought was wonderful), and I found out that I was ripped off. If I see him again, it will be hard not to give HIM a piece of my mind. It's unbelievable how you can't purchase or have installed the operating system you prefer because they push the newest on you. The clerk said 8 out of 10 customers come back and want something done about Windows 8 because they hate it more than 7 and there are no options. I can't remove my 7 and have Vista installed. Ridiculous. Since Microsoft doesn't "allow" downgrades, they are forcing a lot of customers to Macs. They should have a simple XP or Vista offer for old farts like me that don't game, video, or skype and want nothing more than simple programs for emailing (Outlook Express), photos (Picture It), and household files. But I'm not giving them a piece of my mind. I need to start conserving and it will not be easy.
Thanks for visiting!
Hope you all have a wonderful week.

The same here weather wise Marly, I so long for spring! Bargello looks wonderful, great colours!
Good luck with you pc;))
Wise words... very wise words... i'm laughing hysterically at the piece of mind stuff... :-) so tru! I seriously think you should write a letter to Microsoft... you are not the only person that would appreciate the system you are designing... in fact, most people I know only run MS Office and Solitaire and surf the net on their PC's... Microsoft has that "flip book" or "slap book" or whatever they throw around in that snappy commercial... that runs minimum system... but, needs a "special" version of Office to run on it... Anyways... your bargello is awesome! Does shamrocks and daffydils sound good for the next pear design? or tulips? Anything Spring will do! :-) Have a great week!
I hate 8! But was lucky to sell my new 8 for what I had in it and even luckier to find a 7 that was offering a free upgrade to 8 - that I will not use. Am currently saving $$$ toward the purchase of a Mac. Good luck, I hope all works out for you.
The Bargello looks great! Love the colors.
Success with the stitching for the new your pear.
Have a nice stitching week. Evelyne
Oh ya, here to GGRRRR!! Love your work, keep cozy, Francine.
Hmmmm, I think giving another a 'piece of your mind' comes with age. I, who used to be very quiet and on the shy side, find myself saying things like 'thank you' after holding a door open for one who is younger or older than I and they have NO THANKS. I am very impatient and outwardly show it. So it looks like you are joining my club. I can't say be patient cause I do not have much these days.
Loved your blog today ... made me feel better.
Your Bargello sampler is exquisite... YUP, you still have patience.
Your bargello is fabulous. Mine is crawling along. I am ill at the moment, it's gonna be a while.
So perfectly put. Loved what you had to say. You really have a way with words. Wish I had the time to stitch that sampler. I love bargello and did a lot of it many years ago. I have added a little to samplers over the years.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
Love your Bargello -- so gorgeous! Dare I say it? Buy a Mac. lol! They are so much easier to use. Seriously.
Oh, could I add to your commentary re idiot people and computer systems....I have XP and could use a new computer, but don't have the patience to deal with 8! I'm going to join Barbara Shores' "club"! Your bargello is perfect, love it and can't wait to see it finished!!
Same here in NW Ohio today. Still on the couch with youngest child, he's slowly perking up a little bit. Dare I tell you I had a good laugh at your loosing your mind story? Please don't tell me off! LOL.
Just finished a post on my blog just for you!

Thank you so much for a good laugh!!! Now I know where my mind has gone also....
Love that bargello. The colors are wonderful. Our SIL swears by Apple. Everything he owns is Apple!! We haven't quite caught up.
The bargello looks lovely!
Yup the Bargello looks so lovely x
We purchased Sam a new desk top last Christmas.Windows 8 How ever hubby is not impressed nor I. But Sam is happy. Well he has it all to himself. I much rather use my kindle or iPod. Your stitching is beautiful. I would love to give some a huge piece of my mind. Maybe I've gained some extra to give keeping my mind to myself for so long or maybe not. Blessings! Lara
Our heavy snow is coming in tomorrow morning. 3-6 8-12 who the heck knows!! Oh well!! Your sampler looks devine! My Lucretia is driving me nuts and giving me a headache as the enlarged 'one over one' doesn't match the area of the other chart.......@*!%"+} therefore going to just wing it. And no I'm not in the SL SAL either thank goodness! MJ
Keep the snow.... Hope all the pooter issues get resolved.., and quick!!.... And I'm really digging that Bargello.... Reminds me of something I have stitched in the past.... But, I'm kinda like you,.. I can't remember!!
Gorgeous bargello, love it!
Hope everything goes well with your computer!
Hugs,
I am also losing my mind - I can't remember anything. I thought I should write stuff down - so I wrote a few one word prompters so I could remember what to do - then I couldn't remember what the prompters meant - ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I think we should just drink wine and stop worrying about it!!
Totally agree... I became a Mac user when XP was no longer available. Linux is an option as well they say.
Your Bargello looks great
Good Morning, I loved reading your blog this morning! It is great. Your stitching is looking lovely. Have a great day.
Marly - I had trouble leaving a comment for this post and now find that it was posted with an earlier post. So I hope you read that comment that I have copied here...
Marly - Give yourself a break. The world will not come crashing down if you do not have another pear ready every month. You are appreciated for what you share and what you can do. And I should tell you, I love and look forward to your pears, but I can certainly wait until you also can enjoy working on them. ...jan
Ah, Marly. You made me laugh this morning (not at you, I don't want to get on your bad side!).
I have XP on my Netbook. I guess I'm lucky, I don't know about the other types. I don't know what's on the desktop computer, see, you aren't the only one who doesn't remember things.
I agree with the other gal, maybe we should just drink wine and "forget about forgetting".
Hugs,
Susan
Most of the time I don't know what computer system I am on, work is different from home, which is different than my iphone, the main thing is we are all connected! :) Love the stitching, looks great!
What a wonderful post. I really enjoyed reading everything about it. The bargello looks wonderful. It is such a nice piece. I am especially font of the colours.
Great post, it is always a pleasure to read. I have finished stitching your newest pear release. Look forward to the next one. Hope you are having a great weekend, despite the cold.
