I took an Ativan last night about 2am to calm down and help me sleep. So when I was awakened at 5am this morning, my head felt like a watermelon. She was being transferred to Cleveland Clinic, two hours from here, by her primary care physician. He had been on a holiday vacation, just got back, and contacted the Clinic when he saw her this morning. After the mild weather for the last month, today is frigid, windy, with a layer of ice from days of rain beneath a layer of snow. Mark will take off work tomorrow and drive me there, I will stay at a hotel that has shuttle service to the Clinic. I understand that area will be getting 5-8" of snow and do not want to be driving myself. By the time she is admitted, sees a doctor, tests are reviewed, I doubt anything will take place today but if so, he will leave work early and we'll go. I've done online research every evening and the doctors here seem to have the same conclusion. Sudden and severe heart failure which is why she is unable to breathe with movement or lying down. I believe that the torsades incident and being paddled 9 times damaged the heart and it's worsened ever since, even after the drastic AV node ablation that we now know was not necessary. We are cautious in thinking they will be able to help her. Her tears and fears of dying are making me physically ill, and I need to suck it up. I may be a bitch but I'm also an emotional wimp, and watching my Dad gasp for air for weeks is being replayed with her.
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.

Edit - she just called. Her room is better than a hotel, full sofa, two recliners, tables, cupboards, beautiful bath, and I'm invited to sleep on the pull out sofa. She is very impressed with the nurses and doctor already.

Thinking of you
Hi Marly,
I'm so very sorry to hear about your sister's latest problems. My own mother suffered from COPD for many years and it is absolutely so painful to watch someone you love try to get a good breath. My heart goes out to you and to her. Try to take good care of yourself, if you can. I'm sure you are completely worn out, both physically and emotionally. I'll be praying for all of you.
Love from Diane in North Carolina
My heart goes out to you. My mother went through so much of this with heart failure. So hard to watch your loved one suffer.
Oh Marly, I am so sorry. Sending prayers to all of you.
I can only imagine how scared your sister must be, and you too. I hope with all my heart that this awful problem is successfully resolved and quickly. Take care of yourself in all this if you can. Love Irene xxx
Marly,
Let's hope that the nice facility bodes better things ahead. It is nice for the patient and family when the hospital facilitates a family member's staying over night, although that is exhausting when done day after day. ...jan
Sorry this is still a problem. Keeping you in my thoughts
Praying for you all. xxxx
Praying for you and your family. My brother-in-law was in the Cleveland Clinic for six weeks with two ruptured brain aneurysms. The care there was absolutely wonderful. It has been two years and I am happy to say he is alive and well. I think your sister is in the best place she could be right now. Please keep us posted as to her progress. As her care giver, you need to take care of yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Thoughts and prayers are winging your way from Maryland. Us bitches usually hide marshmallow insides, especially with our loved ones! Don't forget to take your pills.

Marly,
To put it bluntly, sometimes life just plain sucks!! I am so very sorry to hear that your sister is still having problems. I pray that all will be well soon. Keep your chin up and maintain that 'bitchy' attitude. I've found it can get you through some pretty tough times :>) !

My. Prayers are flying to you from England UK.
Cleveland Clinic is an amazing hosptilat! I hope they can help. I just got back from there with my adult daughter. We spent 2 1/2 months there and they were a wonderful help to her! We can't say enough good things about the doctors, nurses, anyone who even works there for their kindness and caring. My prayers go out to you and your family that things are good for all of you. Hugs,
