Lost and found

Good day all.  Can you believe we're over the hump in the first week of September?  Uh-oh.  The 5th.  Today is my anniversary and we both forgot!  Well, after 43 years and a house in disorder with rearranging schedules to share a car, it's understandable.  A Dairy Queen chocolate rock sundae tonight!
Before I forget, Yankee Candle has a BOGO large candle offer until 9/8 that is not listed on their website.  You need the coupon to use in stores and that was sent by email, but if you order online or call (1-877-803-6890) and use the code FALL, you can get a free large for every large you purchase.  Great for Christmas gifts and only $5 shipping, free over $100.
I had my camera on my wrist after snapping the brats, and in my frustrating search, kept clicking.  I think I was assuming that reviewing the photos would reveal the items' whereabouts.  It was cold and I wanted to grab a pair of socks, but couldn't find them.  Why?  My furniture is wearing most of them.

So I went upstairs and checked another drawer for the fuzzies, grabbed a pair while holding two boxes I planned on finishing. Don't forget the TP for the bath downstairs. Hmm.  I thought I had the boxes.  Must not have grabbed them - check the cupboards.  Nope.  How about here?  Nope.  Have a few pieces of chocolate while you're looking.

So get another box and start over instead of wasting more time.  Hmm.  Feels a little heavy - must have a smaller box inside.
So this is where the GPS cord has been hiding for a year.  YAY!!!  I'm going to put it in hub's car and tell him it was there all along.
Now where are the little Friend pillows I stitched a few weeks ago and have not seen since?  Caswell Massey had the best lavender scented soap on earth, and I wanted to get a few bars for gifts.  Not the same as it was years ago.  Very disappointed, but being very fragrant, I like to put stitchery in the box to grab the scent.  So I did.  But kept checking and they weren't there.
After throwing the lid in frustration, I see this.  The damn things were stuck in the top of the lid so every time I peeked inside to get what I KNEW I put in there, I couldn't see them.
(Note the empty Dove wrappers)
And where are the labels I printed for orders?  Wasting more time searching so just reprint.  After doing just that, I needed my recipe book for mom's rice pudding, couldn't find it, but when I needed the drywall trowel to add another coat, there was the recipe book with the printed labels beneath.  Why????
Printing them again was a good thing, because as I picked up the new *$#@ printer and slammed it back down, I saw this peeking out.  My floss guide that I've been searching for to check on this.  Big difference.

So even though I had a very frustrating day of searching, I found several things in the process.  A good day!  But where were those boxes and the pair of socks I grabbed?  After a shower, I went into the closet for lotion, and saw them sitting on the attic access steps.  I must have set them there when I grabbed the roll of TP!  A day of mysteries, all solved.

The End.

Hilarious! My brain works the same way. We have to laugh at ourselves, or we'd always be in tears. We don't have to worry about it though - it's not really bad until you become blissfully happy because you don't remember that you were looking for something or lost something in the process. Gotta keep laughing. ...jan

You are too funny! You should write a novel and become rich and famous and then hire someone else to look for lost items. Some time back you wrote about turning your cross stitch upside down to do the next row. I am assuming like me you can easily go right to left but find it hard to go left to right. I tried it, and I think it's brilliant!!! So simple but so smart! Thanks for the idea.

My very best wishes for a lovely 43rd, (I think you said 43rd) anniversary.. That is quite and accomplishment now days.
I think I'm in the same boat with you and a lot of other gals. I can't remember where I left things five minutes ago.. I see what I want to get in passing but when I go to get it it's not there.
I'll say to myself, "I'm going to put this here so I won't forget where it is". When I go to get it I always go in the wrong direction.
You do need to write a book, seriously !
Enjoy your day to the fullest. I hope you and your man will have many, many more happy, healthy years together..

Oh my gosh, what a great story! lol! I can definitely relate. These days, if I don't keep something where it's been for years and years, I just can't find it. It's gone. So yes, I get it, and it's still hilarious reading it anyway. lolol! Glad you solved many mysteries!

Happy Anni Marly! Good golly, after the day you've had, one might say you deserve more than a sundae. Maybe some liquor with a splash of sundae on top;-D

Your house sounds very much like my house, Marly! Even if you can't find things, your floors look gorgeous. Best wishes on your anniversary! I just realized mine is next week. Haven't even given it a thought. I don't think I've caught up with the fact that it really is September.

Your post was a written version of the Family Circus comics where the children's path is plotted out on the page. Too funny!

Those type of searches are so frustrating...ugh! But look at what you found ...so maybe it was worth it. I am glad that you had the Dove chocolate to keep you going.
Congratulations on your anniversary! I hope the sundae was fabulous.

Happy Belated Anniversary! I have it too. A few days ago I got a flatbread out to make myself a veggie wrap. Something distracted me ? and I never made the wrap. That night I could remember getting the wrap out...but not eating the sandwich...scary. Yesterday I found the missing flatbread...there in the cupboard...on the plate...stacked with the other plates. I admit I was relieved to find it...but it's getting really scary around here. The upside? Misplacing food could lead to weight loss and that's a good thing. Life if full of tradeoffs.
Have a great weekend...I'll be busy trying to be cognizant of where I put my lunch.

Happy Belated Anniversary, Marly--I guess that is just how anniversaries are when you've been married so long. My parents used to exchange the same card year after year--so cute!

Love your idea of putting the GPS cord in your husband's car and telling him it was there all along--too funny!

Enjoy your weekend :)

Oh man, do I hate when I have days like yours. I always put things down and then can't remember doing so. The worst though is when hubby straightens up a room and then wonders why I get mad because I can't find what he moved. At least I know I am not the only one who misplaces things.

Happy Belated Anniversary! I totally forgot our one year, early on...I arranged a Family Reunion that weekend, in CALIFORNIA! So here I am, having fun with cousins in CA, when for some reason, I asked what the date was! THEN I was in trouble! I think that was the year he bought the boat while I was out there... QUITE the gift! But EXCELLENT blackmail material ever since--comparing the costs of that hobby with mine! Works like a charm! Ha!
