Pay attention

I thought some of the blues looked different.

I pulled the used skein out of the bag for next project, and then used the new skein.  I didn't notice the difference.  Until several flowers were stitched, that is.  More frogging!

I need to check HL to see if I can find the more teal skein, this cool blue 926 does not go with the 920 series.  I hope 924-928 were not changed!

We've had some days in the 70's with cool nights.  Except for two baskets and my impatiens, all else has croaked.  First time ever they did not last into fall.  Visited the Amish mum place to purchase one for my neighbor (just diagnosed) and their calibrachoa and tunias are so full you barely see the green leaves.  Completely covered with vibrant flowers!

Hope the week is going well for you.

Back on track

Anxious to complete, love love love this.

Finally got the hang of this border.  The top has the leaves matching the line beneath them with a contrasting flower.  The bottom has the leaves in the contrast color of the line beneath with the flower matching it. Whoa. Have any idea how long this took for me to process?

That thin skin peeler is the red one, the standard potato peeler is black, and the julienne is orange.  They come in a set or individually.

OXO

It's September dammit.

Thin skinned

Am I the only one that can't seem to get tomato skins down?

How 'bout those that can't handle the fuzz of the peach?

Here 'ya go.

OXO has a peeler that is amazing.  This one for thin skins removes them like a hot knife through butter.  Smoooooth, slick, and only the skin.

Can also cause a real hurt and lots of blood so caution is needed.  I bought several OXO after switching brands and couldn't be more pleased.  Found online and my local kitchen shop.

No stitching last night or today (so far).  Fingers are numb again and lasting a long while.  This also happens from Raynaud's.  When the circulation returns, it hurts!  Photo was taken at doc office and it is a really bad photo on my laptop.  My fingers to first joint and some to second are pure white.

That ring was made by hubs for Carole from a piece of stainless steel pipe.  She wore it on her thumb.

Enjoy your holiday.

When you think the worst is over

the Lift n Snip come out.

Some errors can't hide.

The rose hid them perfectly.

It's 46 degrees now, summer is over, and that can't change.
But I can change my stitches and fix the errors.

Nice try putz. That hour of frogging won't make the crab feel any better about the rest.

Who knows?

Several errors I cannot find, but in a motif such as this, who knows?  I guess the tedious patterns have a silver lining ... they hide errors very nicely!

So the worst is over and I survived.  Just a few more stitches at the rose bottom, and the rest of the motifs in the bottom right are not bad.

Vertigo testing was rescheduled, roofers are installing a gutter guard today.  We've heard that anything with a screen will catch the maple droppings and oak fuzzies clogging the mesh, this is different.  Very rigid plastic that will allow water through even with some debris.  Guaranteed (aren't they all), fingers crossed.

Since it feels like fall and the furnace is running, seems like a good day for pierogis and kielbasa.  Lots of onions in brown sugared butter, several packets for the freezer.  Makes it easy to have them anytime.

Furnace ran in June and now August.
 Summer came late, left early.

Have a good weekend.

The new black

My shingle picks from this roofer were Glacier or Granite Black. Glacier is almost black as is Black Sable, but after seeing them on multiple homes, I saw a reddish tone to the browns in them. Beautiful.  But I wanted more of a neutral.

This is Granite Black.  The solid deep black of years ago is very hard to find, and actually what I wanted.  But I don't have the patience or incentive to research or shop.  Metal was not an option and higher cost.

The new black in sun

or shade.

Only a few days left in August.

Damn.
