Simple

Took the baskets off the doors and hung fresh branches tied with upholstery jute webbing, as I've done before.

I was looking through prior year photos and saw that last year, Bud decided to participate in the display as Nitzy did this year.
Repairman was here for hours trying to determine the cause of the weird actions of the range, nothing was making sense and diagnostics showed nothing.  As he was leaving, he wanted to check the back of the stove just for the heck of it.  There it was, black charred wires and melted plastic at the connection.  Could have started a fire and we can't figure out why the breaker wasn't blown since this was happening at least 20 times a day on a 220 line.  So, it will be repaired with new parts for a few hundred.

Did a little decorating, simple simple.

Stopped at Walmart for a few things and got my favorite spread for toast.

And for the brats, this little guy.  You pull out a little tab to activate and this thing squeaks like a mouse.  Missy is going nuts.  They don't have to squeeze it, it makes the sound with almost every swat.  But I feel bad when I hear it.  The other day, I had to distract two brats from a little mole that they cornered.  It was cold, but I ran outside and coaxed the little guy all the way across the yard into the woods.  Moles are blind and the poor thing was squeaking and running all over.  But he made it!

Have a great day.
Thanks for visiting.

Marly, thanks for the photos of your decorations! I how I love your stitched Santas everywhere! We have a mole problem in our yard and a few weeks ago my kitty had one in his mouth and brought it in and dropped it! Before I could blink the mole had vanished. Several hours later, I saw kitty staring at the door by the front door for coats, so I got a big plastic cup and a piece of junk mail and managed to catch him as he tried to scurry out. Out he went to what I hope is a safer place. My cat has such determination when he finds one in the yard. OY! I don't think I could take a toy squeeking about!

Yay, you don't need a new stove and this repair will be so much nicer to the pocket book. Glad that it did not end up starting a house fire. Would want to know why the breaker did not trip tho..

I especially like your neutral Santa pillow hanging off the red cupboard. Is that a Prairie pattern?

Your decorating is beautiful.

Marly, you are indeed lucky, that could have started a fire!. I think simple greens look the best in your house along with Santas.

I am also very happy that you won't have to get a new stove. But, being married to a contractor, my first thought was... he checked the back, just for 'the heck of it'?? That was 'lucky' but very bad service. As if it is not his 'real' job! Imagine--having to actually pull out the stove and look in the back... Times have changed! Made me cringe! Your decorations are perfect, as always. House looks good! Hugs!

Scary to think what might have been with your stove wires, Marly! Sometimes, we just get plain lucky, don't we?

Love your "simple" decorations--all so tasteful and well done. And, of course, I love seeing your stitched BOAF Santas in your header :)

Happy Winter my friend...although, in my book, there is nothing particularly "happy" about anything cold and blustery. The peeks of your home are beautiful....love the combination of handwork and simple greens. Why can't I do simple?? Glad the repairman paused and checked behind the stove... EEEK.... Hmmmm...gonna have to look for some of the mouse toys....I have a new demon kitten who needs to be entertained with something other than my ravaged skin..... Smiles & December Hugs ~ Robin

Love the decorations. That bough is perfect for the front door. Love the santa bag. The wires frayed is a scary thing! I would have loved seeing you chasing a mole across the yard!

Good news, Marly, that the range could be repaired instead of replaced and that
you avoided something catastrophic in the process. I would have the breaker checked. As ever, your decorations throughout are spot on. You have great discipline in creating beauty through simplicity ... some do get carried away
with glitz... I have put branches of varied evergreen with pine cone and red berries
clusters in various places and it is so satisfying to see, smell and realize natural
simplicity goes a long way. Your Santas look great..

Love your decorating, Marly! Great news about the stove but how scary! Something to be thankful for this Christmas! I am going to make that cross stitch Santa that is dressed like a mailman. I have admired him every time you post his picture! Only you would save a mole. They must serve a purpose, I just don't want them in my garden.

Stove: eep! Glad problem was found before it started a fire! Any clues to cause?

That squeaky mouse sounds like a great toy - must check it out for our girls. Decorations look wonderful!

The pine branches on the door are lovely. So simple, but striking. Makes me wish I had some pine trees in my yard, but sadly I don't. I want to plant a blue spruce to replace one of the trees I lost to an insect infestation, but the spring and summer were so dry that it couldn't be done. Next spring, I hope. As for your stove, all that can be said is yikes! Maybe you'd better check that breaker...

Yikes on the stove! Glad it'll be fixed at least. Love the decorating -- it all looks so good! I have to take a look for that mouse toy for Mia. Looks like a good xmas present.
