He's accepted the beat up styrofoam box over the brand new one. But since it is well protected, I guess it doesn't matter.

He was in his house soaking up the sun this morning. With all the padding it's comparable to a memory foam bed. He's not running from me as much but the hissing continues.
If I start sliding the panels he will bolt, but just reaching behind them with a food dish is OK. He didn't seem to mind the camera! The back area is open, just the front has panels for protection. When he wants more food (or a different brand) he will sit on his patio and stare at our house until I oblige. His full body stretching upon leaving his abode makes me think he is quite content with the accommodations.
I have no trouble locating his whereabouts and with the leaves down, can see him wandering in the woods too.
There is another cat lurking around for two days, similar to Missy's colors. Please NO!!!

Yah. all you need is Petey telling the neigbhours about his house and you'll be making more. hugs
Looks good. I bet Petey would like a coil of those Christmas rope lights. We use them in our outdoor beds and they work great. We coil them on a side wall and the cats snuggle up to them. Here in CA where it's not too cold it keeps the beds a cozy 70 degrees at night.
Petey is living a pretty good life now. God bless you two for taking good care of him. I hope this other one is not a girlfriend??
You have a very kind heart and are a blessing to the critters and now they are spreading the word.
Marly, the word is out. You're a great cat mom! Petey looks happy!
I’d say your kindness is being broadcast on the feline grapevine.
Petey looks very happy to me and perhaps there is something in the air that tells other kittys that you are so kind to them if they are lost.
Have a great day
Greetings Truus from Holland
Now that you're in the cat real estate business, thank goodness you don't have to have a permit. Petey is so blessed to have a warm, cozy home to live in AND be fed too.
I hope within time, that the hissing will stop. What you have done for him is wonderful.
Take care of yourself.
Thinking of you.

You are the greatest, I always try to treat cats with special care. I think when you die there is The Cat Overlord who will judge us. I want to have a fighting chance. My cats can attest to the fact I treat them well, except for trips to the Vet of course and if you ask my boy Otto I do not feed him enough? Really, Otto you weigh 17 lbs. In his defense he is an orange cat and remember he was a tiny rescue. Chilly weather is on the way stay warm.
I'm reading your posts and keeping up but it's been nuts here and I'll fill you in when I get a chance to sit at the computer for more than 10 minutes. Think of you all daily and you are all always in my prayers. Tell Mark, my Mark caught a beautiful large walleye with his jig from you. I took a picture and will send it through email. Hugs.
Well I fixed up our potting table to shelter a dog house for our feral Spice. I put 2' x 4' exterior plywood on two sides where the wind would blow the most. I painted it a pretty sky blue on the last nice day we had. I plan to paint some flowers, butterflies, etc on it. I used Flex Glue to attach some slabs of styrofoam on the inner sides and stuffed straw between the foam and dog house. tucked a nice fluffy bed inside. That night I went out to find him in the little unprotected dog house and Garfield the bully cat was in the house I fixed up for Spice! Garfield wants to fight everyone-even tried to attack my dog. I shooed him away and put a milk crate up to the door on both homes. I then lured Spice to the shed with some food and locked him in. The next day I fixed up the shed-relocated the larger dog house on top of milk crates and put a low voltage light bulb in. I also put another bed on a shelf so he can choose between the two. He's used to going out to the shed and being locked up now. He can eat and sleep in peace now. He also has his very own litter box. I open the little dog house during the day when he's out and about. The woman next door puts out dry food for all the ferals that will come but I think they gobble it all up and then come to my house. I know they all come for water because I have an electric bird bath with built in heater (looks like a light bulb) and they all come which I don't mind that. They drink more than you think. Take care
I have a lazy outdoor cat hanging around, too. I feed him and keep distance, otherwise he darts off.
