in overdyed threads and linens is gorgeous, but the same can't be said for hair. Several inches of gray in the front and along the nape, red on the ends of the front from faded color (which are pulled over the top - the female comb over), and natural dark brown mixed in. Haven't decided on a solution to this or to just let the gray grow out but since my last treatment is tomorrow I will be free for any option.
In case you're wondering how many cats you can mail in a large size Priority box, two if tightly packed.
Found foam core board at Walmart with the shiny exterior (better for tape applied after pinning), 22" width so I can prepare Lucy Redd, but still not large enough for Sally Fiske.
Mail brought a Lucy Beam chart from Becky Noland. I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it, glad I wandered to FB that day! I sit and study charts when I get them for no other reason than, I like to. Because of my symmetry issues I will be adding a stitch to the stars which are 6 stitches on the left and 5 on the right. But first I will try it as charted since it looks wonderful as is. Everything doesn't have to match and I'm learning to accept chart colors so this may be a good step to take in curing my matchy matchy issue.
OMG it's Labor Day this weekend. And, our 50th. Everyone keeps asking what our plans are. I am tired of explaining that without saliva food sticks to your teeth, is hard to get down, and I am not comfortable at a restaurant swishing my mouth with water at each bite. I have a sneaky suspicion that my MN cousin and husband who never announce a visit will be showing up soon. We'll see.
Have a great Friday!

Congratulations on your 50th Anniversary. Hope your day is filled with Love and Laughter. Hugs, Sandy
Happy 50th! Y’all have a great weekend also!
Me too wishing you a Happy 50th. Not many can celebrate that many years. My DH and I last celebrated wishing each other a Happy Anniv. on or 62nd last Spring -- no celebration.
My choice for the hair situation is to let it go grey. I finally decided to stop the "coloring" when I felt I was loosing hair due to it. Am now happy I did and my hair seems healthier since --- but, I truly need a new hair style - LOL.
Happy Anniversary! What a milestone of our generation, of our group of friends only a handful, are still with first spouses. Your color situation is a calico sort of look and very popular these days, see you are a trendsetter!
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! I hope you can make the day special. We celebrate our 40th next weekend and it's looking to be just another day! Have a wonderful weekend! Cherie in WI
Happy, happy Anniversary..........Wow......half a century !
Happy Labor Day weekend also.
Love the kitties in the box. Every new box that comes in our home is a favorite with Sheldon and Pippa.
Let your hair go gray. The chemicals are not friendly to your hair.
Take care !
Blessings,
Charlotte in Va.
Happy Anniversary! I hope you celebrate in some way.....doesn't have to be a restaurant meal. Do what makes you feel beautiful and comfortable with you hair. Enjoy the holiday weekend. Love the kitties.
HAPPY 50TH!!!!! ANNIVERSARY!! That is amazing!
Congratulations on the 50th! I know it's expected to have plans for a celebration, but sometimes simply buying a steak you normally wouldn't, a nicer bottle of wine, break out the good china, and a quiet evening at home is even better. I'd be happy with a really *good* takeout pizza.
Is this the cousin that expects you to let them stay with you for days with no advance warnings, no help, no chipping in for extra food? I think I'd suddenly be in the midst of a project in the spare bedroom that can't be postponed, or need to be away, or... something. I confess, in reality, I'd probably have trouble turning them away, IF I had a spare bedroom.
My hair and scalp are so much happier since I quit perms, color, and sulfate shampoos. Do I miss being not mousy brown-blonde? Yes, but I don't miss dealing with touchups every few weeks even less. I vote let it go grey.
No notice the cousins are coming? I second JustGail… such "visitors" are presumptuous and should be clued into the idea of consideration and etiquette...If they did not get away with it, a lesson might be learned. Do what is best and healthiest for your hair...you will look just fine. Have a grand 50th and holiday weekend, Marly. Congratulations !!
Happy Anniversary! Well done. I vote for going grey...your hair and scalp will thank you....and the rest of your body will breathe a sigh of relief...chemical free. Just do it!
Happy anniversary! Can you dive headfirst into a pint of ice cream? I cannot imagine that would stick to your teeth, and that is what I would do.
Hair is just hair. I've learned that from losing it and growing it back, cutting it insanely short, getting bad perms, getting bad highlights, and making it through more than my fair share of bad hair days. Remember the 80s? Enough said.
Hair is just hair.
Be careful with the shiny foam core. I found out recently that it's not acid free. I had done a lot of pinning and lacing on not-acid-free foam core before I found out.
If your visitors bring you joy, then hooray! If not, can you hide behind the couch and not answer the doorbell?
Sending hugs. And ice cream.
Happy, Happy 50th!!!!!! I vote turn out the lights, bring the cats in, head to the basement with dinner, ice cream and a bag of Dove. DO NOT ANSWER DOOR!! PS: Go Gray, saves your hair, money and time.
Well....seems my computer screen is more forgiving and graceful than others...or your mirror. I think your hair looks rather amazing...color, texture and thickness wise. Quit y'r bitchin' Girl as they say in Nod. I'm up for a trade. And Happy 50th. I guarantee ya we ain't making it that far. ;-) If so, I'd celebrate digging a big hole some place LOL. Ok...that was mean. I didn't mean it....but not gonna delete it. ;-)
Happy Anniversary Marly! Wondering if you could order take out from a favorite restaurant, whether it be Italian,a cheese steak, pizza, seafood, Chinese...anything yummy! And perhaps a bottle of wine and chocolate for dessert? If you`ve ever seen the movie "Sideways" you`ll remember the lead character Miles( a poor somewhat pathetic guy who loves wine)winds up savoring a special prized bottle in a McDonalds booth by himself. Sometimes the place you`re at doesn`t matter so much as the company you keep and the food you`re eating! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Happy Anniversary! Congratulations and Best Wishes for many more 🎉🎉🎉
Happy, happy 50th!!! May you be blessed with many more.
Sure doesn't feel like a holiday weekend :(
Wow! 50 years--that is indeed cause for a celebration... Congratulations Marly and Mark! I am definitely more of the "quiet celebration at home" type, but the 50th truly is a pinnacle. I would probably plan a nice trip somewhere when it is safer to travel.
And hair? I am just not ready to go gray yet (even at 65)--my younger (nine years younger) sister did recently and now she looks quite old to me. I just got this young brand-new grandbaby so I want to look and feel younger a bit longer ;-) Good luck with whatever you decide ♥
