Good day to you! Just wanted to show you what I came up with for the wonderful Sajou gifts I received. Since I have a terrible habit of losing misplacing items in my own home and I want to view these lovelies, I framed them.
The inside is just as pretty as the outside, so I photocopied the basket onto heavy cardstock, folded and cut it to shape, so I can have a display of both. Cool, huh? I used colored cardstock and printed the stripes for the background and sprayed the frames black to match.
My mom's sewing box contained these old designs so I opened the "Atomic" card and placed the folded "Rocket" card on top. The other is torn and falling apart but I love the "ladies" looking all excited at the task of sewing.
I ran through my local antique store and found this double bucket - must be dairy related - and it's perfect for a few tattered geraniums.
It has finally cooled down and we were lucky to receive rain buckets a torrential downpour. My Pink Diamond hydrangea trees open white and eventually turn a beautiful dusty pink. This is the smaller of the three and the first to open. The cats enjoy tearing up the bark so I need guards on all three.
That's it my friends. I thought you would enjoy seeing the Sajou items. The wooden tape measure spool will be attached to the outside of the frame's corner with a very large pin and hung also.

Marly - Very cool! I too have a small collection of needlecases - but I'd certainly never thought to display them in such a creative way!

I actually have the same rocket needle book that I have framed also! It is so cool! My husband is a sci-fi guy and he likes it too!

Marly, I really think you could write a book with all of your fun and creative display ideas... Seriously!! Your display frames look so cool and I love how you've used the cardstock for backgrounds. And to have your mom's sewing items on display is so special.
We got a bit of rain here--not nearly enough. I sure hope more is on its way!
Now that is just the most clever thing EVER! What an awesome way to display such pretties. Love your double bucket, too. I've never seen one of those, but it looks like it was made for your geraniums. I do love me some red geraniums!

That is a wonderful way to display your treasures. I am always looking to new avenues for putting my MANY collections to use...it is such a waste to keep things neatly tucked away. I see little hope that my treasures will be sought out by the next generation...

Have I ever pointed out that you are completely brilliant? I lovelovelove the idea of framing those old needle cards! Somewhere (which room? what box?) I have both the Rocket and the Sewing Susan card folders from my mom (and my Susan is more than a bit battered as well - those must have been especially good needles) and I treasure them. What a delightful way to preserve and display these beautiful bits.
(and yes, I am quite far back in your blog - I know I haven't been commenting, but I went all the way back to the beginning and am working my way forwards.....)
