Greetings! Thank you everyone for your suggestions and encouragement! With great embarrassment I admit again that I can't swallow pills. Choked once when very young. I think that's when the claustrophobia began and a deeply embedded fear persists, even after several hypnosis sessions. I chew, cut, or open capsules, many have taste that's bearable, but most are intolerable. And with a family history of breast cancer, I can't take estrogen. My doc checked a while back and found that bioidenticals were not offered locally and testing and such was not covered by my insurance. I do believe it's better. Really. My long rides are less frequent, but my Jekyll/Hyde moments aren't! But hey, who wants to be nice all the time anyway?
Two other things that are none of my business.
1. if you get those PITA emails from gmail about "following" someone, don't open them. If you have, search "flipora - infoaxe" and get instructions how to remove them from your computer.
And 2. we have another friend whose dizziness ceased when he stopped all aspartame (Nutrasweet) products. After years of doctoring and tests showing nothing, he heard about someone else, and gave it a try. We always advised our patients to not consume diet products during pregnancy. It doesn't affect everyone, but could very well be responsible for the rise in ADHD and depression. It reduces the serotonin level causing an imbalance that affects mood, learning, memory, and behavior. Young children are especially susceptible.
My cousin's step daughter was diagnosed with MS, only to find it was the aspartame, and she is now fine. Her classmate had seizures which stopped after removing all diet sodas, and my nephew's grandson is not as wild. If you have any of these symptoms and consume aspartame, take a break and see if it helps. It may not be the cause, but it's an easy fix if it is.
On February 14, at 8 pm EST, I will have Random draw a name for a $30 gift certificate from 123 Stitch. Make sure you leave your initials if you're no-reply or anonymous. I won't be back until then. I need to stay off Pinterest and the computer until I finish a few things.
Stay safe! Thanks for visiting!!

Please include me in your wonderful giveaway. Thank you Marly.
Thanks for the great info, I am lucky that I have never used the artificial sweeteners of any kind, I like to use as pure and natural food as I can find but I will sure pass the info on. It is a great thing to know. I would love to be entered in your giveaway also. Thanks for the chance.
Marly

Love your stories about Walmart and can just picture myself pushing a cart along side of you. Please keep sharing as it makes me feel just a little more normal.

Thanks for the info. My hubs quit drinking things with aspertame and his arthritis symptoms went away! just another fyi
Please enter me in your giveaway.
I finally got my husband off those nasty sweeteners!! Very nice giveaway!!
Thanks for the info on nutrasweet (and all other artificial sweetners). I'll go read those articles you put linked to to learn more... but I can say from experience that my health improved after stopping diet sodas. Headaches stopped, acid reflux stopped, "gastrointestinal emergencies" stopped... and my A1c readings went back to within normal range... yep... just because something is "natural" does not mean it's safe...
Thank you for the info, I am diabetic and I only use stevia for a sweetner. I try to make sure things I buy don't have aspartame too. My gram used to get rashes because she held her feelings in. The dr told her to just vent and let it out, and she never had them after she started doing that. So let it rip I say!
Please enter me for the giveaway and I hope the rest of your week is much better, and hopefully no more "white crap" too!

I gave up diet soda long ago... caused me great digestive distress.
Thank you for another generous giveaway.
Thanks from me, too, for the info!! Good to know as I do use artificial sweetener in my coffee.
Please throw my name in the hat.... would love to win!
Marly, thanks for passing along that interesting and important information about aspartame. There are a lot of food addictives we are not aware of and they can build up in your system. It's good to hear of real cases where just stopping intake of aspartame has helped greatly.
I would love to be entered in the giveaway! Many thanks!
Thanks for the info on artificial sweeteners, I need to work on deleting them from my diet. Ugh, I have such a sweet tooth. Please include me in the drawing. Thank you.
Aspartame has been a no-no on our house since my FIL's bladder cancer. It was suggested to him that it might be a factor. Now your information - thanks for that!
I'd like to enter the draw too please.
Oh I have heard bad things about artifgical sweeteners.... I used to be addicted to diet coke I now crave once every blue moon but other than that I dont have it in the house... I would live to be put in for the drawing oh what fun shopping that would be such a dreary long winter here in Ohio a little spring craft shopping would be just what the doctor ordered :)
Hugs

Marly, It seems I always learn something when I visit your blog.
I would love to be entered in your giveaway. Thanks for the chance.

I've definitely gotten those follow emails with the flipora thing. I've avoided them so far -- just ignored them. Ugh. My DH can't stand artificial sweeteners. Who knew about the bad effects? Wow! You are always so generous about the giveaways! Thank you!
Oh Marly I don't take estrogen either. I think women have been going through the change naturally for centuries - if they can do it so can I. We keep appertain out of the house. My hubby has always gotten headaches from it. Please enter me in your wonderful give a way!
Thank you and hugs,
Rose
I have been seeing those friend requests a lot lately! They are annoying... very interesting information about artifical sweetners. Thanks for the chance at your generous giveaway!
Please join me in. I can also attest to artificial sweeteners also being horrible.
Thanks for the information. I enjoy all the stitching tips you have given out on your blog, too. Please include me in the giveaway. DJ
Thanks for the info you never know when it will come in handy...I too have difficulty swallowing pills...have a great week Hugs lil raggedy Angie
My DIL gives my little grandson Splenda-it makes me crazy!! What a generous give-away! Please put my name in the hat.
Such interesting info! I have never liked anything with artificial sweetener (yucky aftertaste!), but I did give up regular soda (or "pop" as we call it here in Canada ☺) almost a year ago. Wish it was as easy as that with other sweets.
Please add my name to your generous give-away... thanks so much!!
I had the same symptoms of dizziness, trouble writing, and a few other things. All went away when I stopped using aspertame. This was years ago. I wish everyone would stop using the stuff.

123 Stitch is my favorite website for all my cross stitching needs! Thx for the heads up about diet foods. Who knew? Mary A
WOW...I've learned so much here. My husband stopped using anything with artificial sweetener in it and he says he can really tell a difference. I wonder if this also applies to the liquid Monk fruit sweetener I've been using?
I once had a transesophageal echocardiogram and the doctor said in all the hundreds of those he's done, my throat was the smallest he's ever seen. I also have trouble taking pills and I'm always choking on my food! It's embarrassing if we are out.
Thanks for all the info you share with on all kinds of issues! Love visiting your blog! I would love to be the winner of your give away!!! Thanks, Kim
Well, I'll be darned. That is quite interesting information about aspartame. I myself get GI upset from it so avoid it totally.
Thank you so much for a chance at the give-away & for always a wonderful read of your blog!

Thanks for the info. Please add my name to your wonderful drawing. Thanks
I have never drank the fake stuff. If I can't have the real pop then forget it. Never liked the after taste. And I have tried to get my sisters to leave it be but they have to drink pop so they do diet. I just gave up pop and only occasionally drink it. Best to leave the fake stuff on the shelf!
Neat give away. Please enter me!
I get super bad migraines and the artificial sweeteners are a trigger for me, so I stay away from them.
Thanks for offering such a generous giveaway!
Thanks for sharing this important information. These sweeteners also cause migraines. My children and myself have suffered greatly from them. I do not buy anything with artificial sweeteners in it.

Great information on artificial sweeteners, thank you. Love your blog. Please enter me in the give away. Tina
I had decided to stop using artificial sweetners even though I have diabetes and used them instead of sugar...thanks for the info!
Would love to win the giveaway!
Love reading your blog!
The information about sweeteners is most appreciated! I have heard that no one should be using them. I love Coke Zero, but I may have to take a break from it--I don't think I remember like I should!!! We'll see if it clears up!
I'd love to be entered in your giveaway--thank you for the chance!

Thanks for the info on aspartame. My friend's daughter was diagnosed with MS 2 yrs ago and I will pass it on to her. What a great giveaway, thank you so much. janicecurtin@aol.com
Just love your candor and sharing.
Not only should we not use the artificial sweeteners, they should
not be on the market in any form.
Big $$$$$ business.
Please include my name...123 is one of my favorite sources and you are a dear for the great offer. Many thanks.
Thanks for the warning of the aspertaam, I think a friend of mine is hooked on them and she is not feeling well at all! Will inform her!
I hope your Jekyl/Hyde moments will soon go away and you can be your lovely self again! Enjoy the stitches, hugs
Lida
Wow, that's interesting.
I've also read that diet soda can lead to Diabetes too, more than regular soda.
It's hard to belive they can market these bad items.
Marilyn
Thank you for the offer. Roann
Another informative post and a generous offer - thank you. Please enter me. Ann
How interesting about the sugar substitute! Yes, please enter my name in your drawing also. Thank you for doing this.
Sodas aren't good for anything anyway, so this just adds another reason for not drinking them. Please add my name to your drawing.
Marly,
Thanks for your sage advice, for sharing your wonderful needlework, and for remembering all those cute little kitties and keeping them warm!
Cheri Anderson
I keep telling my dh that the sweeteners they put in diet sodas are toxic and its just no use. I think they have brainwashers in the drink too :). I would love a chance to go shopping @ 123, or anywhere for that matter. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for the giveaway! It would be wonderful to win.
Thanks for the info..please add me to the giveaway which by the way is very generous…I'm always tellingly husband that we are too much alike in the things we say and feel lol…thanks again ..Debbie Kos
Hi Marly,
Thanks for passing on the information on aspartame. I have never used any artificial sweeteners myself due to the taste ( I can always tell if its artificially sweetened.)You always have great info to pass on, whether its stitch related or not. We are bracing for yet another storm here in Maryland - this one may be the worst of the bunch. Winning your drawing would make a great birthday present and would be much appreciated. Thanks for your generosity. Kathy R.
P.S. Say "Hi" to the brats for me. I have 5 of my own in the house and 1 outside (she won't come in no matter how bad the weather - she does have several available shelters)
You know, that's some interesting information. I've always wondered about artifical sweeteners. It seems they just appeared one day and the next thing you know they were in everything! Kinda like that high fructose corn syrup. I'm suspicious of that too.
Throw me in the hat. I'll cross my fingers.
Thanks for the info. I stay away from that stuff as much as possible. Thanks for a generous giveaway!
Thank you for the giveaway offer and you blog. I look forward to it. I gave up soda a few years ago and only drink water. Put me in for that giveaway. Thanks, Nancy P.
Thanks for another giveaway! I enjoy reading about your meno adventures, it helps me to laugh at my own. For a while I wouldn't go anywhere without icepacks in a little cooler, for the dreaded hot flashes.
Hi Marly,
I agree completely about artificial sweetners. Please enter me in your giveaway, I already have my wish list ready : )
Thank you so much for all the info on the sweeteners... I stopped all diet soda about 3 weeks ago. Feel some better, but the full effect will take awhile I am sure. Please enter me in your drawing!
Hey Marly,
I know that those sweetners are bad...but I love diet coke soo much.
Ugh!
Please put my name in the hat.
Hugs to you and the brats.
I sure enjoy your blog, and I would love to be included in your giveaway. 123 Stitch is a great online store -- great selection and fast shipping!
Thank you for the chance Marty!
Love your blog!
Hi, Marly,
I so hate it that you are having such a tough time. I had a hysterectomy at age 45 so had instant menopause, but nothing like you are experiencing. I actually think having a hysterectomy was the best thing I had done in a long time. I had horrible PMS symptoms before, and the medication paroxetine helped a lot.
Hugs,
Melinda
Hi Marley,
Your stories are wonderful and I love your work!!!!
That is so interesting about the aspertame, I don't drink diet sodas because I always get headaches...now I know why. But, my sister in law is addicted to diet cokes, I will pass on the info.
Laughed about your adventure. : )
thanks, Cheryl
My SIL stopped consuming anything containing aspertame after a whole host of problems and was amazingly "cured" of all of her symptoms after a few weeks without it!
Count me in on your generous giveaway--that is too sweet to pass on :) Thanks, Marly!
Thanks so much for the info. on artificial sweeteners. Aspartame has made me feel really icky in the past. I hate when I accidentally buy yogurts sweetened with Aspartame. I would like to be included in the drawing for 123Stitch. They have great things. Thanks.
Unfortunately I am so addicted to diet coke, I can't imagine giving it up.
Please put my name in the giveaway. You are so kind!
Kathy
I just can't seem to get my comments to post! Hopefully this will do it! I'm a big water drinker but do enjoy a diet coke every now and then. I don't think I drink enough of it to be harmful. My daughter has problems with pills too. She's able to find many things now in chewable. Doesn't hurt to ask the pharmacist.
Love your blog. Please add me to your drawing. J.B.
Thanks for the info Marly and I'd love to be entered into your giveaway! Thank you for the opportunity, Deb
Artificial anything is apt to cause problems. What baffles me is how it is allowed to be on the market.
I hope that you can find something that eases your symptoms. Take care!
You are a wealth of information Marly ! Wonderful giveaway ;)
Rose
Please enter me in the 123 giveaway. I am ready for a new project. Do so enjoy your adventures and hints.
Hi Marly, just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

I enjoy your blog so much! The stitching, the recipes and the adventures. I never know what I will find in your next post! I enjoy hearing about the brats and what they are up to. They are all adorable. And your meno-adventures always give me a much needed chuckle!
My girls got instant headaches trying diet sodas, so we learned that they are BAD BAD BAD! I know when I was going through treatment for my BC, and they found me to be estrogen positive, I watched EVERY thing I ate for plant estrogens. But I take the herbals now (6 years out), and nothing bad is happening--I get yearly checks now. I totally understand about the pills. It is a shame for you though. I will throw my hat in the ring to win the gift certificate. What the heck! My blogoversary is this month--gotta post!
Thanks for the info, Marly. I have not used sweeteners because I didn't like the taste. Then I started to hear all the bad news connected to them. I would love to be entered into your drawing. Thanks so much for your generosity!

I have never been a fan of artificial sweeteners....the real stuff I moderation is my motto! Interesting to know what symptoms may ease just by removing them.
Oh ~ I remembered after commenting on the last post! that my mom's friend recommended black cohosh for dealing with menopause.
Would love to be entered in your drawing ~ thanks!
Always appreciate your info. Thanks
Well now Marly you've got me wondering. I am a big Diet Coke consumer unfortunately...have not been able to break the habit but I have cut down some. I hope to get myself off of it totally and see if I feel better...have many arthritis issues that have been flaring up the last year. Worth a try for sure as nothing else seems to be working much. I have had many days such as you described...find my patience is really wearing thin sometimes and everywhere I go there seem to be idiots in charge! I just try to calm myself down but it's not always easy to be sure. Please enter me in your generous drawing...I didn't win the Powerball yesterday but maybe my luck will change LOL!
Please enter me in your giveaway. Interesting information on the diet drinks. Thanks!
What a lot of great information!
My husband loves his diet Mt. Dew...I keep telling him to stop drinking it but he's a guy you know. I don't use the artificial sweeteners at all but he does in his coffee...another no-no but he doesn't listen.
I will point these facts out to him
Blessings,
Happy Valentine's Day
Karen
Love your site and all the info you impart. Please enter me in the giveaway. Thanks!
Wow Marly, you and me are the same with pills. I have such a hard time swallowing pills but I'm trying to do mind over matter...with my husband around of course in case I choke!! I've always cut or crushed the pills and swallowed it that way. I've heard this about artificial sweeteners and children. Thank goodness I use raw unprocessed sugar or honey as a sweetener. Never like the aspertaine nor do I drink pop. Very interesting and I might mention this to some of the kids' parents I teach who have ADHD and learning issues. Diet is so key!
