To hang --- or not.
I took two threads out of my linen to check for the crinkled warp, and they looked the same to me. Maybe a different piece would be more noticeable. It's not that I plan on doing it properly, I just wanted to see if I could tell.
And now for a story. For some reason, I have a momma crow and 2 young hanging around my patio. They haven't shut up in weeks. All day. Caw caw caw! Right by the open windows and although I love crows with their goofy walk and even their call, it's getting on my nerves. I don't know if I ever told this story so forgive me if I'm repeating. Many years ago, I pulled into the drive thru at my bank. The back of the building is where the cars get in line along with the parking lot. Adjacent property is a vacant grassy area and a house farther down. When I pulled in, I saw several crows milling around one that was flat to the ground, his right wing completely extended. They were making a lot of noise and circling him. I assumed he was hurt and the wing was broken. No one else got out of their car, probably because they had better sense than I did. I hunched over, slowly and quietly approached the bird from the back, feeling like I was in a covert operation but without a ghillie suit. I got within two feet of him. As I extended my arm to grab him, his head turned, he let out a blood curdling screech while pulling in his wing and took flight just missing my face. Scared the crap out of me. That's a big bird!! I think my move was similar to one seen in Psy's Gangnam video. The damn bird was just airing his armpit. I guess the others were squawking that break time was over and trying to get him to move. The people at the drive thru tried not to laugh as I walked back to my car, but I knew. I knew. This is one of the bad things about having a bright color car that you keep for 10 years.
People remember.

The heart is great, the story even better. As for me I don't care for crows, songbirds make me happy.

Love the heart, and can't wait to get started! Crows are so intelligent, I'm surprised they aren't running the world. Maybe they're just biding their time. Here's another crow story. Last winter we came home and turned in the driveway. As always there is a huge snow bank at the end of the driveway. On the edge of the road was an injured crow. My husband went out to check it. It was seriously injured, with a broken back. He brought it in the house while we decided what to do. The look In it's eyes was eerie; as if it knew what had to be done. It was so injured, we decided it was the most humane thing to dispatch it quickly. My husband did it, and took the body up the hill behind the house to bury it. As soon as he was finished, a large flock of crows, who must have been keeping watch, flew into the tops of the trees and all began cawing. It went on for about 15 minutes, and the they all left at once. It was a funeral for the crow. One of the strangest things I have ever experienced. Now off to gather linen and threads for that sweet little heart.

Thank you for your sweet heart chart the simple stem of flowers is lovely. I do hope you sort out your crow problem I have a similar problem with a blackbird and his girlfriend who feel my garden is their sole territory and woe betide any other bird who dares to descend ...the racket!

lol! That crow story is hilarious! You just have too generous a heart, and that crow was being a tricksy one! :D Beautiful heart. I think it should hang. Crows cawing right outside constantly would drive me crazy too. Ugh.

Marly, Thanks for the great story! I love our crows! I'm wondering why your crow is continuing to constantly call. Our crows let us know if they run out of dry dog food which we place out each day. Also, they have a very urgent call to let us know if a dreadful fox is passing through their yard. But, usually they happily talk to one another and don't constantly nag. Have you tried asking the crow what his problem is? Sometimes I'll talk to them and can figure it out. You're such a kind lady. If I'd witnessed your actions at the bank, I would remember you as the kind lady in the bright yellow SUV that checked on the distressed crow. Have a great day and good luck with that crow!

Thanks for the heart. I like the safety pins attaching the hanger. I might rust some up and put on the front. A flock of crows has been hanging out in my area for about 6 mos. I don't mind too much until they hobble the homemade suet cakes I put out for the downy woodpeckers!

I have a crow story from my childhood that still haunts me! Funny it happened right after I saw The Birds for the first (only) time! Not my faves... I have never thought of a temporary hanger on the back of stitching--what a fabulous idea! I will stitch your pattern and hopefully make it into a heart right after... Hugs!
