The faucet

Hi all.  Happy Sunday of melting snow.  Are you having a busy weekend with all the sales?  "Preview" black Friday prices, but in effect now, a one-day only sale that started two days ago and another one-day sale starting tomorrow that also runs for two days, lowest prices of the season today only - until tomorrow when you'll get the lowest prices of the season.  On select items.  It's the lowest price on certain items and the next lowest price day is on other items.  Give me a break.  Put it all on sale and quit messing with our minds!

Let's talk faucets.  No I don't have the countertop yet and he is coming out Wednesday for the final measure which means another two weeks after that for installation.  They are an hour away so I hope weather won't interfere.  I studied all my favorite kitchen designer's photos and found the two faucets they use most often.  Herbeau for $1700 (with side spray, cheaper without).
Moving on I found several others that I really like but my decision isn't easy.  Since I have to purchase online and have no idea how dark the bronze is or the difference between brushed, tumbled, rubbed, antique, and aged, I hesitated.  But my real question - would the darker browns look OK on a black soapstone counter?  And since I have stainless steel appliances and black hinges and accents, is bringing another metal into the small area a mistake?  Who the hell cares?  It's my kitchen. I won't know how it looks with the sink and counter until they're here yet I need the faucet for the installation.  What to do?
I found a reasonable faucet in brushed stainless at Lowe's (Wetherly by Moen) in the pump style I prefer, and it goes perfectly with the appliances and also the new and old pewter.  I can live with it and always change my mind later once I see how it all looks. This came in bronze but I didn't like the streaks of red showing that are supposed to age it.  Every manufacturer has a different "bronze" finish and some I do not care for.

And this one is Squeak!  He always ends up with food on his nose.  We leaned a piece of plywood against the house for protection and he stays  here once in a while.  I've moved his condo to several places but he is still too skittish to enter.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start.  Thanksgiving!!!  Good grief it's only a week to December.

Thanks for visiting!

I know all companies have their own shades of every color with some not even close to what you may have in mind. We chose flat black and love it. Our local company that did our granite tops ordered it for us, for a price of course. We have black appliances and stainless under counter sink and our tops have lots of black in the granite. Good luck with your final choice!

I've never been a big fan of bronze, but that's just me. Personally, I would go with the one from Lowe's and upgrade later if you're not happy with it. It will be a good match with your appliances. Can't wait to see photos of your kitchen!

Love the picture of Squeak with the food on his nose. I would go with the faucet from Lowes. If you decide you don't like it down the road, you could always swap out.

There are just too many choices. I'm sure whatever you (finally) decide on will be just perfect.
I don't believe it's almost December either. It can't be...sigh.
Happy Thanksgiving :)

I am glad you are feeling better! Currently my husband and I are redoing our smaller bathroom and I am going through the same thing with the faucet and the sconces. I wanted a darker granite countertop (saving black soapstone for the kitchen if we ever get to that!) but I wanted a faucet and small sconces that were colonial looking. Help! I sure do not want to spend 1700$ for a faucet I do not use very much. I found antique bronze sconces and they arrived and were huge and poorly done with one part of the bronze a different color from the other. Everything looks so modern on line and I like to see something before getting it. I am about to give up and let my husband do it! That means I am desperate! Too many choices anymore! Hope your faucet works for you. Your kitties love you!

All the decisions that come with a remodel are a pain. I can't wait to see your finished kitchen! In my dream life, David T. Smith will just come and do everything for me!!!!

lol! I love that Squeak ends up with food on his nose! So cute! Is he doing ok these days? I like your faucet choice. I also like the one that you saw online. It looks so cool! But it's so hard to buy online, I agree. Who knows about the colors, etc. Good luck with all that. Just look forward to the finish ahead!

Like the faucet from Lowe's. When we did our kitchen I bought a faucet and it took so long before we needed it that I could not find it. Went back and they did not have that one anymore so had to start over trying to decide. Finally got one and then found the first one....

Well, our Monday has started with rain turning to freezing rain and now it's all snow. It's supposed to snow and blow all day and I say ICK!

I decided to skip all the holiday sales and plan on only buying from small business this year.

I like your faucet choice. We have really hard water, so I always have to choose based on what will handle the constant cleaning of the mineral deposits.

I just discovered I have 3 kittens living under my deck and Dottie Dog is not at all happy about that!

I like the looks of the bronze ... but NOT the price. does not fit our pockets. Good suggestions, go with Lowe's and keep or switch out later. At least you'll have running water.
Say hi to squeak...such a beautiful animal and so very lucky to have you care.
...Happy Thanksgiving...
Peace to all as always,
Barb

Love your "rant" regarding the sales. So true! So excited for you about the counter tops! I hope the weather complies and a re-schedule is not necessary. How wonderful to have them in time for Christmas! Totally agree with you doing whatever pleases you about the faucet. It's your kitchen! That said, I personally would hesitate using the brown metal with dark counter tops. The photo of Squeaks is perfect! You always take such good photos. Wishing you a great week and Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for your blog! SAH

You are sooo right that the stores are messing with us! My husband retired and took a job at Sears until I retire and he starts to work at 6 pm on T-day! The Lowe's faucet is my pick. Squeak is looking good! He's a lucky boy!
