Panties bunching?

I am sitting here ready to take a pill to calm down and face this scary day.  We have to be there by 11:30 and the procedure won't start until 3:00.  I'm taking a few things to stitch but my thumb is cracked and painful, and my hands aren't steady.  We won't be in the same area as the last time until after the surgery and going back into that small unit will not be easy for her.

As for the stamp issue.  I don't give a rat's ass if they have a stamp for each religion.  When I go into a pharmacy and ask for eye drops for dryness, I don't want ones for allergy.  When I go into a yarn shop and ask for wool, I don't want to be sold cotton.  If I order a DVD, I don't want to be given a Blu-ray.  When I go into a coffee shop and order tea, I don't want coffee.  It's called a job, a responsibility.  They are being paid to serve the customer what they are paying for. I am not going to stand at a counter, search for a computer, Wi-Fi areas, and look up what I am purchasing.  Yes the buyer should check the merchandise, but I trusted the post office to know what stamps they have.  She isn't delivering mail, she is working the counter as she has done for many years as the manager of that branch.  The stamp was released last year!  I expect people to do the job they are paid to do. Yes it may look like a Christmas tree, but it's not.  I asked for a Christmas stamp.  Not Kwanzaa, not Hanukkah, not EID.  I have a right to celebrate my religion just as they have a right to celebrate theirs.  Tolerance goes both ways.  Preaching it without practicing it is ideology.  The title of that post was about someone not doing their job.  Period.  Don't send emails about being a racist, anti-Islam, anti-worker.  I have a right to say what bugs me and getting a stamp for a religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas when I specifically asked for the opposite, bugs me.
My former mail carrier was a gem, very friendly, very conscientious.  She is 6 years to retirement so they moved her to an easier and shorter route, and she stopped in to say goodbye last year.  My new one won't take my stamped mail from the mailbox.  The flag is up, the mail is ready, but she leaves it.  She has left my packages at homes several miles away with nothing similar in address or name.  I have to deliver my neighbor's mail that was left in my box.  There are workers that take their responsibility seriously and do an excellent job. There are workers that know they can't be fired and make no effort.  We have more of those in my area.

I hope to have a good report posted by tomorrow morning.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, I love your blog. I love your gut level honesty. That is what is wrong with this country and world, that everyone has to walk on egg shells not to offend anyone. My beliefs are different and I don't expect everyone to believe the way I do but I don't want someone telling me it is wrong to believe the way I do. I fixing to drink my coffee and have some quite time I will be praying for your sister and for you! God Bless!

Good luck to your sister! Postal people are overpaid - seriously overpaid and they get away with not delivering mail correctly all the time. Plus when a box disappears there is no refund - they will ship another box. Free - because you should trust them with a second box. I won't mail anything other than envelopes with them.

Marley you weren't saying anything badly about another religion, you asked for a Christmas stamp. I do like the "stampgate" comment above ;) That made me giggle. I'm praying for you and particularly Carole today.

I'm with you on the stamp issue. Clearly not a Christmas stamp and I would be annoyed too. Sending prayers your way.

What a streesful day for you. Prayers for healing and calmness in this whole experience.
As for the stamp--AGREE! Why they have them out at Christmas and try to pass that off. There has been EID stamps since SEPTEMBER 1, 2001 and I NEVER bought one and will never buy one.

There seems to be a general lack of work ethic in many organizations which is so sad. We, as Christians, should be given the same rights and privileges as other beliefs are being given; too many times we are discriminated against. I appreciate knowing about your experience at USPS; it will make me more aware in the future. As a side note for your thumb, I have found that Bag Balm is so very healing for your hands and feet; I apply it and wear gloves or socks overnight when my hands or feet are cracked. You can get it at a drug store, and it comes in a green can. Praying for you and Carole today.....................

Prayers and best wishes being sent your way, hope for the best outcome for your sister. I saw nothing racist, anti anything in your statement regarding the stamps. You have every right to get what you want, especially when you are paying for it! Thanks for expressing your honest opinion, most refreshing these days when we are constantly being brow beaten or called names for expressing our honest opinions. Talk about intolerance...

Wow! And I worried people would be bothered that I sent out my CHRISTmas cards with Fort Henry stamps on them! I had so many and hated to go to the post office to buy more. Those green stamps would have fooled me too. I hope your sister's surgery goes well and no one notices the stamps.

I have a great post carrier we just gave him his gift. I have an issue at our local grocery store, I am waiting on line and they answer the phone and the caller just wants to speak to an employee. I was here first. There I feel better, prayers for you and sister.

I missed yesterday's post so I had no idea what you were fuming about. O'kay I am up to speed now. I admit it does look like a tree....but still. I always ask for Winter stamps not religious, my post office knows what that means. You have a right to fume though.

Have been thinking about and praying for you and Carole all day today (Wed.). I hope to hear some good news.. I guess it will take a couple days for the doctors to know if all went well.

I don't know what this world is coming to. One should not have to get upset about a darned stamp that costs too much anyhow.. Gosh only knows how much they'll be next Christmas and what kind they'll be selling.. We'll have to ask for specific Christmas stamps.. I did at Costco and got some with poinsettias on them.

Thinking of you and Carole and praying for good health for your sweet sister and some peace of mind for you.
Hugs,

I am so with you. People just need to do their jobs!!!! This has little to do with religion. Why do we have to deal with being PC 24/7? Prayers are for you and your sister today!

And she was the manager? so sad...

Hope all went well for Carole today and that you are feeling more at ease this evening.

Try the bag balm as suggested by lacy stitcher. It really does work and if you can't find it try O'keefe's hand cream. They carry it at Home Depot and Lowe's1725. Used by contractors and stitchers alike!

I love your blog, your spunk and your openness... I agree totally about this world going to crap... customer service sucks first off.. you get such attitudes from people and its not just the young, its the old, the middle age etc.. I think its more than they hate their jobs.... I went to post office yesterday and asked about that stamp in particular, wanted to see if they offered it, nope, she said they order what they want for their post office and that one was definetly not on the list... yeah for them.... I told her the story in quick short spurts and she was applaud that they would offer that period.... so there said, I got the stamps with kids playing in snow, and cardinals... beautiful.... so glad your sister is doing good.. many prayers to her and you and the whole family.... love your blog.... don't change.... I read to hubby yesterday and he chuckled, he said sounds like some one he knows. lol aka me....

Good Luck today and I will say a prayer.

Regarding the other, you are 100% correct; it truly shows the sad state of this wonderful country and I am not sure if it can be fixed. My dad is a WW2 vet who survived Normandy and a few others - he is 90 and for the past few years he has said that the country is shot - I hate to say I agree, but.....
