try to exchange flowers? I let the Amish owner with the ice blue eyes, chiseled jaw, and v-shaped body, on his private breathtaking acreage and enormous white farmhouse with wrapped porch, majestic birdhouses in rows, floral landscaping, and hanging baskets bigger than my ass, influence me. I don't know why.
So instead of getting the pink mini supertunias, I got the bigger Bubble Gum supertunias. I want the minis. Saw this same plant in large hanging baskets this morning and they were very nice but the centers were empty and bare. Not so with the mini supertunias I've had before. How foolish would I look if we ride out there tomorrow and ask to exchange $70 worth of 4" pots? Mark said he will drop me off and stay in the car which I already knew. Flowers have been the only items that didn't beg his question, " are these going back next week?". No longer. I am the Queen of Returns but is it really my fault? Has not menopause created a hesitation, confusion, lack of self assurance, indecisiveness? No? Well it sounds like a plausible excuse to me and I'm sticking with it. I'm sure their response to my request will be "we don't know - no one has ever asked to exchange flowers before". Either I will end up a happy crab or have more pink petunias than any one person should. And I should have bought the yellow. I don't like pink. See what I mean? It's like living with two people! One's a crabby bitch and the other is a weepy wimp.
I've set aside Sally for the time being, almost started a few others, but decided on Mary Kiptin/Kitpin, whatever her name is. Not being a border stitcher, this may create some frustration but it's not the size of Elena Tratman which was my other choice. I am studying the packets for the sweet bags and the stitches required, mostly detached buttonhole, and although anxious to start I know I don't have the patience right now. Even been thinking of a Santa.
Went to the doc for my after surgery check and dressing change, the gauze was fixed to the stitches from dried blood and pulled out a few when he removed it. Yikes. He said to let it go as is, and start following his instructions. What? ME? Not do what I'm told? How the hell did he know? My swollen ankle is bigger than my shoulder...may have given him a clue. So I am to elevate and stay off it. OK. Next week, after the paint is remedied and flowers are exchanged and planted. Lowe's was very nice about the paint and we were there forever getting the sample formula entered into a gallon. So sure it would be right - got home - it's pink. Don't know what else to do except buy two dozen samples.
After the high 80's and humidity of the weekend, the furnace is on. 39 tonight. Right now I'm going to make a cup of coffee, pull out the sweatshirts that are neatly packed away, and elevate my foot for a while. Sad news....my nephew and his long time love have split, and the blind groundhog that my brother has fed since last year disappeared two weeks ago. Something must have chased him into the woods and Ron hasn't been able to find him. He will not survive. And, the primitive shop in Ohio that opened in 2012 has decided to close, to my surprise.
That's it boys and girls. I know it's not Sunday but I am very unreliable. Can't blame that one on menopause.
Have a great week.
Thanks for visiting.

Enjoy the cooler weather with your coffee, sweatshirt, AND your foot elevated. I think I would probably get the 2 dozen sample containers although I don't understand the why behind not getting the gallon the same color.

I have never tried to exchange flowers - sounds like it might be fun though! Baskets as big as your ass has me laughing - you are funny. Keep that foot up missy - or you will take forever to heal!!Sad about the groundhog - I want a friendly groundhog!
Yes, you stinker! Keep the foot up, after the flower return. ;)
I feel for you, I remember my menopause days yikes I am so glad my body has finally adjusted, now I am cold all the time, I need the heat.
I have returned many things but never flowers, please keep us posted on the reaction you get.
Yep keep that foot up, let your man take care of you a little, you deserve it, I hate picking out paint, I can never get the color I want.
Happy stitching
Catherine
You can blame anything on menopause lol!
Hugs,
Rose
I really don't think the Amish farmer (loved your description of him, by the way!) will mind you exchanging the flowers, Marly... Hope it all works out! We are opposites in that I hate returning things and get so nervous when I have to. Next time, I'll call you up so you can drive down and return them for me :)
Two dozen samples of paint--now there's an idea! Hope it doesn't come to that :)
Hope the ankle goes down in size soon. Elevate! :D Sorry about the paint. I wonder why it's so hard for them to get it right. Sigh.
Don't feel bad - my heat is running as I type. Just a few days ago the air conditioning was on. Go figure.
Things have really not gone your way. Here is my advice, do what the Dr. says and take the flowers back! Good luck!
You gave me a good laugh this morning !!
Yes, return those flowers !
Hope your ankle heals quickly.
Rose
Looking forward to your story about returning the flowers!
Do listen to your doctor and keep up your feet-I always have them up when sitting.
greetings,Truus from Holland
Oh Marly! Yes, do keep your foot elevated...it's annoying, but it must be done (after the flowers are returned). Good luck with the paint. I would be beyond frustrated.
I can't believe we had to turn our furnace back on too. I feel your pain with the paint color. Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.
Elevate that foot! Sit and relax. I'm sorry about the groundhog...
You will have to give us the sequel to the return of the flowers. Hopefully all goes well.
I love reading your posts (by email) but today made me laugh out loud about retuning the plants and the hanging baskets as big as your ass! I too live here in OH and had AC on last week and heat yesterday and last nite and even made soup!! good grief!! Please keep your foot elevated and have it get better!!!!! I had knee surgery 4 weeks ago so lucky me have now started out patient PT oh can I just say happy joy joy!!! and yes we can blame everything and anything we want on menopause........notice the word men in that word!! I rest my case there! so thanks for cheering me up this morning and have a lovely day dear and hope the foot gets better (it will if you are a good patient!!!) hugs Linda
oh and I plan on planting my tomatoes and peppers later so hoping no more frost!! had to make a huge tent with sheets over the garden the one year we had that late frost for like several days remember that!! that was so not fun!
Same here in NY regarding the weather.... A/C for a couple of days... then back to winter. Well, maybe not that cold, but certainly not summer-like like we had been having. Crazy.
Never saw a "No Returns" sign up where flowers are sold yet! Good luck with that, and I look forward to hearing about your experience with trying to do so! (Next year there may be some of those signs popping up around your area!!)
Feel better and try to stay off that ankle!!
Come stay with me Marly, heat is back on, cold once again. Sorry to hear about the Groundhog too..rest and put your foot up.....blessings Francine.
Menopause, huh? That's what makes me so indecisive and un-self-assured these days? Alrighty then...I'll run with that.... But....you are speaking with probably the only other woman who has ever "returned flowers." Yup...that would be me. But, funny thing was...it was because I was talked into "yellow" and decided I just couldn't live with yellow. I wanted pink. There was a happy ending to my return story...but I didn't have to face ice blue eyes. ;o) Oh...and I've lived through the sample vs/ gallon thing too.... 'cept mine was too yellow....and still is cuz I didn't return it. Hugs & Pink Smiles ~ Robin
I have never been able to return an item so I cannot help much but I do Hope you can exchange the flowers. Love your description of the Amish farmer.
Just started menopause and I am already blaming almost anything on it!! :D
Get well soon
I once took a Red Hot Poker back to the garden centre, it wasn't in flower when I bought it, but was supposed to be yellow and turned out to be orange. I don't do orange in my garden and happily there was no fuss exchanging it. Good luck with your flowers.
LOL - did I just make the first part of your post LOL Sounded like it.
And ... if I buy something and keep it, it's because I never intended to use it or wear it lol I buy something with the idea if I don't like it I will return it...and it's often.
Hope you get the flowers you want.
And I'm sending many healing prayers your way. You have been though so much this past couple years. It has to end sometime.
We went through the same thing for our bedroom paint. Got 2 gallons of ikky color in the basement because of it.
Oh and DON'T use 'sample paint' as your paint...it is missing an element in it that the regular paint has and will NOT hold up...it chips and cracks. That's one reason we can buy those samples so cheap.
Blessings
Karen
Your post is very entertaining…I loved the "hanging basket bigger than my ass" ~ what a riot!
I hope that you find time to rest that ankle.
No big surprise here, Marly, but I would love for you to choose Elena to stitch! Melinda xxx
