Off to a great start

In order of happening.

1. Preparing to make the pies, only to find out that the Walmart clerk gave my bag with 3 large cans of Libby pumpkin to the person next in line.  We usually check to make sure all our purchases are off the turntable.  We didn't.  Go to the nearest store to spend another $10?  No, because of #2.

2.  I've been off balance for two days and taking Antivert, which puts me to sleep and aggravates the crabass condition.  No driving.  Husband is golfing in 45 degrees, and searching for more pinecones.

3.  The pies are made with outdated cans of Libby's pumpkin, that weren't ballooning, so they should be good.  This because of #1 and #2.  I drank the filling so we should know before anyone else eats them if there will be an intestinal disturbance.  I've got 24 hours for testing.

4.  Not realizing that an all black digital panel means the oven died (refer to #2), I am staring at it, wondering if it has reached temperature yet.  No it hasn't.  But if you pound on it, blue lights will come on before again shutting down two minutes later.  Two years old, add that to the $10 pumpkin loss and we are now at $2210 plus tax.
5.  Now the pies are in a basic model gas stove in the basement, which means I am going up and down the stairs to change temp, cover crust, check for done, while dizzy, sleepy, painful ankle.  Don't forget crabby.

So far, the day is just splendid.

6. I am having the dinner here tomorrow.  But Mark will be home to run up and down the stairs, carry the heavy bird, and take care of all those foody issues.  I'll be sticking close to the bathroom.

7.  Missy is somewhere in the house, and I can't find her.  That little monkey is such a stinker.

8.  The large order of Christmas gifts I place online, expected today, can't be tracked.  They don't have a record of it since it was sent to the wrong distribution center.  I'm sure it will show up before Christmas.

9.  Google changed my dashboard again and I have to click a link to get my Reading List of blogs.

The good news .....  I am still here to experience all this aggravation.  Family is still here with me.  I found a great face color for stitching.   The snow melted.   And I have online friends like you.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Hi Marly, compared to your day, mine has been great. Just had to make deviled eggs and do up some of those Lil Smoked weenies for the slow cooker for tomorrow's Big Day. This olde girl is going to daughters for Thanksgiving. She and my son are doing all the work. I have been told "Mom you do not have to do anything". This is the 2nd time that I did not have to cook turkey. Years ago we had ALL the family over (50+). That meant 2 Turkeys...but everyone brought something. We always had way too much and a very "Happy Thanksgiving Celebration"...Great memories.
Anyways...Enjoy the day and family..."HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOURS".

Peace and Blessings too,
Barb

Marly, I swear nothing lasts anymore. A hundred years ago your oven didn't go out you just had to chop wood and throw another log on the fire. Alas, every time has it's issues. Happy Thanksgiving and when you sit down tomorrow it will all be worth it.

As always, I think you need to take this act on the road! (Mother's famous comment) You have such a gift for making the everyday frustration so interesting. Readable and sarcastic humor is the best. Happy Thanksgiving. Sit down and let someone else do the rest.

Oh Marley!!! You do get into the worst of it all. You should just chuck it in and go out to eat. I sure hope you don't get food poisoning! I was feeling bad because we are spending it alone and without all the fixings but I don't feel so bad now and won't mind the roast instead of turkey. When the cats hide, you know things are bad! Get out the Dove and I look forward to the next post to hear how you did. I am smiling with some guilt but damn girl when you go, you go big!

Marly the day will be wonderful because of all you do for everyone, including all of your blog friends. What a way to start the day....I was feeling sorry for me (recuperating from total knee replacement on Halloween) but realize how lucky I am. Sitting here with my leg up, ice bag on it, drinking a Starbucks that my hubby got for me. I hope your day is special - feel better friend and HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Well, Marly, your day can only go up! You are so right, even in the mess, we can find tons to be thankful for!

A great blog community hug to you, dear Marly. The irony of your humor had to be
shared so I sent it off to a few gals who will be given a bit more perspective on
the piddles that may be bothering them. It has developed that whenever I work
to do something that doesn't pan out and leaves me frustrated, I label it a Marly
Moment and smile.... that is in profound respect for the humor you draw out of the
mishaps... Now that the issues have been addressed, please have a relaxing day
filled with Thanksgiving blessings. Save me a slice of that pie, I live adventurously.

Happy Thanksgiving, Marly! Sorry for all the troubles you've been having during your Thanksgiving prep. But you are so right -- there are many blessings to be thankful for, despite the negatives. And thank you for your sentiments about the election in your last post. Agreed. Amen to it!

Oh, you make me laugh, Marly--not at you, I assure you! Thank goodness you have a sense of humor or who knows...

You are so right about Google--I'm sick of them tinkering with things. Google+ makes it almost impossible to answer comment questions these days :(
