Our warm and sunny days have taken a turn. Could be because the 50 mph winds spun them around to face opposite. Wow. The rain was needed but the darkness and wind weren't expected. It's really howling out there.
Such an odd look, hard to describe, sort of a bright colorful darkness. A glow. Impossible to capture with my little digital camera.
Petey was in his shelter all day, and stepped on to his patio area after dinner. He left as he does in the evening but we find him in his box early morning. Picky eater. And I realized his cries are intermingled with hisses.
The white area is roofing material that protects his box and the side is two sheets of plexiglass that slide open to get to his dishes. I haven't been able to locate the barrels to cut in half but this box will do for now.
Once again we had not one costume show up at our door and I am forced to consume Mounds, Reese's, and Snickers. Who am I kidding? There is no reason for me to candy binge other than my lack of self discipline. But since the bags are already close to empty, I will heed my mother's advice to always finish what I start.
Hope your NOVEMBER weekend goes well.

Petey has a very nice home, he needs a rocker for his porch.
Take care! My sister lives near Cincinnati and she said the weather was terrible!I see snow in Chicago!!
We had 6 inches of snow on the east coast of WI today! Not one tricker treater brave enough fo put on their boots with their costume!!
So, we have plenty of Reeses and Hershey's to snack on! It looks like a long winter after a terrible spring, summer and fall!

It is going down to 29 here in the South this evening. Petey certainly lives grandly, even to the point of galavanting all evening.. Do you get to see the
chauffer bringing him home in the Bentley in the A.M.? That is some basket of
treats.... should not be allowed to go to waste...right. The weather today was raw
and no trick or treaters...although they have been rare these past years.
Usually we get something we don’t like - gum or smarties-so that we won’t eat what’s left. But this year we got candybars and had no trick or treaters. The shame!
Petey has a great shelter and I do hope he will stay warm and dry in the winter with you.
Have a great november weekend too
Greetings, Truus from Holland
Our neighborhood has changed so much in the past few years that I don't buy candy anymore. I guess I'm turning into a Scrooge. I'm sure the kids get enough at home anyhow. I did buy some miniature peanut butter cups for us and some pumpkin donuts for breakfast.
You are quite the kitty condo builder. Love that you're taking such good care of Petey. He should stay in his comfy home at night instead of prowling. Maybe he's out to catch a mouse or two.
It's quite cold here this morning. What a change from yesterday. Guess we're in for winter now. Brrrrr !
Have a great weekend. Enjoy your goodies.

Wow! What a nice house you two built for Petey! Just like Cherie said. We got stinkin' 6 inches of snow yesterday Marly!! What the heck? A bit early!!!
Darn. After I opened my 250 piece bag of Snickers, Milky Way, M&Ms, etc., I checked the city website and Trick or Treat was cancelled due to ferocious winds. Rescheduled for Saturday afternoon when I won’t be home. This candy must leave the building...NOW.
DH found our plastic barrels at a farm coop. If there's any places that use lots of chemicals for farm, golf course, etc those would be good places to check out. They were already washed out, but we gave them another good washing first. The in-use ones are white, now I see there's a couple of blue in the shed. I put a photo of our setup on my blog so you can see what we did for our outside cats.
I forgot to say the snow cleared out by TT time, but it was cold and windy. I don't think it was canceled, but then I pay no attention since DS grew out of it and we live outside town and haven't had a single one stop by since we've been out here, porch light on or not.
We had only 18 visitors this year, it was windy and there are not many children in the neighborhood. WhenI first moved here ( 20 yrs) is was 100 bags of candy slowly decreasing. I am not a candy person but it does freeze well and I bring it out through the year out the year when husband complains " no chocolate in the house". I guess husbands cannot drive!!!!. Love Petey's new home he could use a front door light too, hahaha
One other thought - the carpenters you've had working the last year, they may know where to get barrels as well. They may also have wood, plywood, or other bits that are too small for their use, but could be quite good for kitty palaces.
Love Petey's home. We have rain yesterday and today rain and very high winds. We don't get tricker's here since 4 years back. The kids on my road are all grown up now and go to parties in Riverview so I don't buy candy except a chocolate once in awhile for us. I hope we don't get snow here. Too early for snow. Have a great weekend. big hugs
I was so irritated with the township commissioners where I live when they did not postpone Trick or Treating like surrounding communities did the day before. The front you spoke of was certainly expected and potentially dangerous for folks to be out in. Glad to report that the neighborhood kids still showed up, plus a few from the nearby town that postponed 🤨
We also had no trick or treaters but that's typical where we live so we only buy one small bag of candy, just in case, and so we don't glut ourselves when nobody shows up. The description of your weather sounds rather creepy but very poetic at the same time. And I love Petey's little snug. He seems to be an independent gent, but then aren't most felines?
Mounds, Snickers and Reese's.....I'll be right over.
Marly: I think the dark photos are kind of cool.
Poor Petey, he looks so lonely, I bet he is a great hunter.
We do not celebrate Halloween, however the neighbors tell us there get about 160+ children coming door to door.

Those winds were nasty! My son's place lost power for a few days as a result -- yikes! I feel the trick or treaters are less and less n general. So we all end up with tons of candy in the house. Not good!
Crazy weather wasn't it, Marly? The communities around here actually postponed trick or treating until Saturday which was such a great decision. Saturday was lovely and we ended up with a record number 34 trick-or-treaters visiting us. We usually have only 12 or so, so my 40 pack of mini-oreos was almost gone.
And you know what I heard was coming on Thursday :( Not ready for that yet!
It certainly feels like Fall...or maybe even Winter! It was 30 degrees yesterday morning for me. But, the days are gorgeous and the air is fresh. I was so over summer weather - lol.
