Kaleidoscope Vision?

Yes there is such a thing and it can scare the bejeebers out of you.  One of many disturbances called ocular migraines that may or not accompany headaches.  They usually disappear within 30 minutes.  The one I just experienced looked like a C-shaped kaleidoscope and is already increasing in size, ready to leave.  Whew.

My Covid antibody test also came back negative, I am trying to get in to one of the two pulmonologists here for a talk.  The PA of my PCP office scheduled an appointment for two weeks.  Maybe because I have an autoimmune, my system would not create antibodies since it's too busy attacking me.

I have changed colors (big surprise) and also where they go.  This fabric was self dyed and it's very close to Winter Brew.  As always, the light threads do not show well enough for me, even using white.  When the stitches on 36 or 40 are so small, they get lost.  I need to come up with something for those motifs but haven't as yet.  Already two shades of green, two of brown, two reds, one gold that isn't bold enough.

Snowflakes will be double thread of white, and as I'm typing this, 3790 or 3021 is popping into my head for a few of the motifs.  Very dark, but might be a good alternative.  I already darkened the stag with the archival ink, but if a very dark gray/brown is added to this design, I think I will remove and stitch him again.

The wagon wheels are different than eyelet because they are outlined with full stitches except for the corners.  These are three stitches high inside so the spokes are not over two.

Bud is still enjoying the attention he's getting, but we may have to make a decision soon.  He is so thin and we've tried everything.

Have a good day.
Stay safe.

Hi Marly: I am so sorry Bud is ill, I hope he knows how much you love him.
Beautiful start on your Sampler.
I sure hope they can find a cure for you and you are back to good health.

Yes, I hear you on the ocular migraines. I get them. The first one scared me so much, I left work and went to a hospital, convinced I was having a stroke. In retrospect, it was pretty--flocks of pink and purple birds or paper airplanes flying left to right, then a narrowing of the visual field to a dark tunnel. I couldn't see the computer screen because the text was gray and dark. Half an hour later it was gone, without the headache. Dr. I saw knew exactly what I had so I felt quite relieved. What she said was that I may get them from time to time (likely stress) but if I got them all the time, I should see a neurologist. Best wishes on dealing with all of this and the uncertainty.

Been there with the ocular migraines! November of 2019 I had started having them in clusters, 4-5 a day and at one point half of my face and my one arm went completely numb. Thinking of course, stroke, I went to the ER, had CT scan of brain, MRI of brain, showed nothing at all. Heart ultrasounds, you name it I had it. Seemingly related to the ocular migraines, with which I would get a mild to moderate headache only sometimes. Very scary indeed. Seems mine may have been related to elevated BP, no doubt due to stress because I was on BP meds but when I arrived in the ER i was 220/110! Started a second med and it seems to have helped but maybe I am just getting used to the stress!! Hope all goes well with the Pulmonologist, prayers continue to come winging your way.

I’ve never had pain with a migraine; I’ve only had ocular. The first time was in high school and I thought I was going blind and ran home. My dad made me drink stuff with caffeine and it abated. When you know what it is it’s much better !!!

I had migraines as a young teen and at the beginning of menopause. I don't remember having any kaleidoscope vision, but then I usually couldn't open my eyes at all. I feel for you. Although you are not happy with some of the floss colors, I think they look just fine. Thinking of you and wishing you well. Hugs.

Well, I think I know you well enough to know that that will be a worrisome couple of weeks for you...just remember that nothing in your health world is "typical" so don't expect the antibodies thing to be any different. Keeping the prayers going on my end....not only for that but for the Bud situation.... For him for comfort and you the strength to make the decisions you will need to make. Stitching....colors and all....look great to me. (You know, the one who agonized for weeks over changing out 1 color ever....and settled on a substitute very dang close to the original.) ;-) ~Robin~

Seems like if it`s not one thing it`s another, glad you`re hanging in there. I like your cross stitch, especially those beautiful apples! Hope you have a good weekend.

Think that was a scary moment when you had that kind of migraine. Another thing to cope with and I feel sorry for you, although I know you are a strong woman and will deal with this.
Poor Bud and poor Marly--it's so hard to make a decision when it is time to let him go. Mostly they will give you a sign that is time to go.
Take care and stay save
Greetings, Truus from Holland

Negative for antibodies means you never had COVID-19 so the next doctor visit will determine if it is pneumonia? No need to answer, just a rhetorical question. You are often in my thoughts during my day.

You just can't catch a break sorry to say.
I know a two week wait to get to the pulmonologist is agonizing, but just think what it will be if we go to socialized medicine!!! A friend who has a Canadian beau told me that for him to get a colonoscopy, there was a 9 month wait.
Hugs for the Budman. He is lucky to call you momma ;-)

You seem to be running the gambit of contradictions, healthwise. Sorry to hear about poor Bud, there is no way to explain the attachments we have to our pets. The poor little guy has been so fortunate to have you. I was leaving my studio last night and smiled to myself and thought of you. You see, right by the door as I leave the room, hanging above my long-arm quilting machine, there is a basket, full of pears, the patterns were yours. Take care.

I continue to pray for you my friend. It is confusing that your antibody test is negative. I wish you did not have to wait two weeks to see the pulmonologist.

I get those too! It’s always if I’m dehydrated though. If I feel it coming on, you can tell if your vision starts looking weird, I get a bottled water, room temp and drink it all. By the time I have finished the water, it has gone. So make sure you stay hydrated ladies!
