While throwing things in my sewing room, I came upon a protected pile of really nice small stitcheries looking for a permanent display. One was EF 1837 with a lot of pinks. Many beautifully finished drums with velvet tops have been gracing posts on IG with velvet tops so I may give it a go. I found three velvets in pinks, of the three, the middle is least liked. Showing both sides.
I had my xray today but the new doctor thinks it is interstitial lung disease from Sjogrens and a CT scan will be ordered for confirmation. I am still hoping they are wrong but it doesn't seem so. My doctor of twenty years will no longer see me since I visited another doctor. I was thinking of a change but did not know that one visit to see if we connect would be reason for my original doctor to throw me off a cliff. "Once you leave the practice, we unfortunately will not take you back". EVER. I guess one visit means I left without even telling them.
So I'm going to be in a rotten funk this weekend. ............... What day is this? Oh wait, January is still displayed. February 2 is not on a weekend. Doesn't matter, funk knows no days.

Well good and bad on this post. Good, the lovely stitching that will make a beautiful drum. Bad, that creep of a Dr. that threw you over just because you got another opinion. You just might be lucky to be rid of him! I would think a good Dr. would welcome another opinion!
Mmmm a doctor of so many years dismisses you for seeking a second opinion? Well, 44 years of advance practice nursing has made my senses pretty good, you are better gone. While that will certainly cause disruption and involve a tedious search for a new doc that one does not have your best interests in mind, only his own. That is disgraceful and quite frankly worthy of a complaint to the medical board. Unprofessional to say the least. Most doctors welcome a second opinion to avoid a misdiagnosis and/or confirm their conclusion.
I am so sorry that this might be the problem. I hope the CT gives you a definitive answer. this whole getting old business stinks.
You little drums are adorable, I like the number one pink, it reminds me of a rose that I used to have and my "gardener" killed. It was his grandmothers rose.
Take care.
In agreement with celkalee!
Isn't it your right as a patient to ask for a second opinion? It's your health that's at stake after all. That doesn't say much about him as a doctor. Praying for you as always. Our niece was just diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Has never smoked. Only 39 years old. Will be doing tests in the next couple of days to see if it's spread. Prayers appreciated.
Your doc’s ego seems to trump her/his value of your care. Plain and simple imo. I sure hope you improve
I love velvet on top of drums, I like the top one.. One day I will finish the one I stitched, it has a velvet top. I think ditching your Dr is a good idea anyway. Imagine not wanting you to get a second opinion. Take care. How is Bud doing?
While I like the top velvet best - so bright and happy, I find it sort of diverts my attention from the needlework. So I vote (you did ask opinions, didn't you?) for the bottom one.
That sounds very odd that your doctor would boot you for even one visit to another doctor. Especially after going there 20 years. It might be for the best - sometimes fresh eyes and thoughts are not a bad thing.
I like the top velvet best. I like them all of course!!!
I do NOT like what your doctor did. I do not like what is happening with your lungs. You are in my prayers dear Marly.
Top velvet - Yes! It blends with the bright colors in the stitching and brightens the whole piece.
Middle Velvet - NO
Bottom velvet - a far distant second. In the photo it really seems to dull the whole piece down.
That doctor is not a dedicated doctor seeking what is best for you, although his
action may turn out to be what is best for you. Praying you through. I like the
No.1 top, but feel the No. 3 corresponds more softly to the needlework
Whoa....that's some scary sh*t Marly....Interstitial lung disease??? Lord I pray not. Hugs....and hoping.... What an arrogant, unethical, POS your "former" doctor is. As the others have said, he should be encouraging you seeking other opinions and options. I also agree that you are better gone. Argh on the colors.... too difficult for me as I am not a pink girl. My initial knee jerk choice was the last one....but I do like the first one too. I'm sure you will choose well. ~Robin~
Hi! My 2 cents: I would use a dark brown velvet. It will make the bright colors in the design pop. I think the pinks you show are too bright and matchy-matchy, sort of.
I read your post after this one, and I am sorry you are having so much trouble. Maybe a new doctor is not so bad because it sounds like the old one is a crank.
