That disappearing act

Again.  I've always loved this cat pillow and have stitched quite a few in various cat colors.  Stitches from the Heartland chart from 1984.  This smaller one was made for a giveaway and I was surprised at the low number of entries since I love this. The last cat was on a higher count and really small, I must have given it away also.  This large original and another in gray are on 18 -20 count.  I think it was called Basic Cloth by Back Street from decades ago, beautiful texture, but I do like the reduced size of higher counts.

Another frustrating day dealing with a doctor's office staff, for an expensive, uncomfortable, unnecessary transport.  You wouldn't believe it if I told you, and I won't.  I wanted a familiar, easy, mindless stitch that evening but instead had a tantrum about not finding the chart so I picked up Rachel as she tried to ignore the obscenities.

My Rachel border has had two florals removed because of the color not showing, so I'm moving on to the greenery while I decide on a change.  Now starting over again because the 934 and 520 are similar, and I used the wrong one for the stems and leaves.  The charted 3047 doesn't work, and this Ecru isn't either (as you can't see). I'll probably continue with the correct green and work on the trees and alpha for now.   Maybe start fresh on a darker linen?
There is a tiny one room schoolhouse turned shop that is closing across from the facility, so we stopped in.  Bought a newer crock in a small size, glass ornament, antique cobbler shoe form, and this tiny hinged box with glass, all for less than $10 (50% off until closed). I can stitch something for this, would make a nice gift.  She has loads of doilies and linens, various cups and dishes of china patterns, most vintage.  Not my thing, but a sweet little shop.

Happy Saturday half way through August.
Source of increased crabassiness.
And a hidden Cat chart.

I know you like summer but I am not a fan. It was the highest recorded July on record and I can see why. It was just plain miserable. August was not quite as hot but pretty close. I wish I liked the the heat but it just makes me miserable. And it brings on the hot flashes so that's no fun. I am counting the days until Autumn. I know you don't want to hear this. LOL Sorry you had a frustrating day dealing with the office staff. Everyone in the medical field is stressed out, burnt out and pushed to the brink I fear. Have a good weekend!

I would like summer better if there were no storms and mosquitoes. It has been unbelievably hot this past week.
Would love some cool breezes and colorful trees.
Your kitty pillows are adorable. Still enjoy your swan pear. Beautiful.
Can't believe how fast August has flown, as have all of the months this year.
Take care !

The cushions of the cats are adorable Marly!
How frustating again to deal with about the staff-- there is no end and it seems they never read anything or are listening to nobody.
Sorry to hear another shop is crossing although you bought some nice items.
Take care, sending prayers and a big hug,Truus from Holland

I wish I hadn’t missed that giveaway of the cat cushion! I adore it and them both! Now that I can’t win it, I want to stitch it. I’m sure I won’t though, I’ve not the energy to go looking for that chart.
I can’t believe how fast time goes by and especially how summer flies by. Winter lasts so danged long and it’s sneaking up on us again.

I guess I slept through the cat pillows.....first time I've seen them - or maybe my old age is catching up quicker than I thought and I JUST DON'T REMEMBER - ugh! They are adorable.
So sorry you continue to have issues dealing with Carole's care. I'm sure this is taking a toll on all
Thoughts & Prayers continue

That giveaway was long before I found your blog. They are cute, though if I were to ever stitch them, those hearts would have to go. Perhaps a bow?

Given your prior experiences, sadly I can believe your day dealing with the doctor office. It makes me wonder if they are after the transport fees. In cahoots with the service.

Some people put their floss skeins/bobbins on the fabric to check colors before stitching. Is this something you do? Or can colors that look OK in large amounts like the skeins seem to blend in too much once you start stitching, particularly in a small area? Bummer on the color issues, I'm wondering if I would forge ahead with those disappearing colors or if I'd have tossed it into timeout while I have a good sulk.

I sent you an email regarding the cat pillows. I LOVE them! :)

When I stitched my Rachel years ago, I did so on Pearled Barley. I do recall making only one DMC change and that was the color of the grapes. The gray just didn't make sense to me so I changed it to a medium purple with grey undertones. Have fun with yours!

I see the ecru??? Then again, I like subtle. I like your linen choice, but don't know the colors. The kitties are sweet....must have been before my time or during one of my walkabouts. Was the chart a stand alone or was it one in a magazine? If the latter, I may just have it....I have tons of cross stitch magazines from that "era" that are eventually going to meet a fiery end. Score on your treasures...that little box is so sweet... looking forward to see what you do with it. ~Robin~

I love the cats, I am surprised you didn't have a lot of requests. I don't mind subtle, but some patterns I have gotten the stitching is invisible, I want to see what I stitch when I put it out. I think you do amazing work.
