I walked without assistance this morning. Ten feet, but that's ten more than four days ago. Yes I sounded like a race horse that lost but we can't all be winners.
UPMC calls for updates and commented that many patients have my symptoms, others entirely different, and there is no particular product or remedy that works/treats a virus. Four bottles and over $100 later from a health store verified this. So does this mean that what may help me won't help others? Yes. But not always. It's possible. Not probable. A shot in the dark. But if you're already in darkness does it matter?
Just in case, I thought I would list some items that I feel helped me cope with the head, dizziness, nausea, fatique, insomnia, shakiness.
A tray table was filled and moved from room to bedside making access easier and keeping aids together. The stomach issue was helped with small portions of banana in morning and throughout the day, and applesauce. Mylanta helped calm the stomach jitters and strawberry Pedialyte was also taken in small portions. Less drowsy Dramamine was quartered, enough to help without causing sleep. Vernor's ginger ale a few sips at a time between all else was another small comfort.
Mark asked if I wanted my bright green bag on a neck chain but after changing to this routine, I did not need it again in mornings. But it has become an accessory for doc visits and car rides.
I am anxious to shower but certainly cannot chance a problem between the heat and steam when this weak. So I am using the bathing cloths and No Rinse while seated, and Mark purchased a few Shampoo Caps (new to me and a Godsend). I had a fever for over five days but was too sick to care about being stinky.
I have not seen Carole and the long ride would certainly require the green bag and then the long wheelchair ride to her room would contribute to the motion illness. She is in tremendous pain and they doubled the Oxy, but she is doing therapy.
My head is spinning, I have not been online and it feels as if I've missed years, but reading or browsing does not keep the stomach calm. Need to grab my banana and a sip of Vernors.
So just in case someone is going through similar symptoms, and not yet found some tiny bit of relief, I'm hoping what helps me may do the same for someone else.

so happy to hear you are on the mend. Sounds like a bumpy ride but hope you will soon feel much better and forget all about this nasty virus. Take good care of yourself and thank you for updating us!
It's so good to hear that you are making progress, tiny steps but in the right direction. Bless you and Mark for all his loving care to you and Carole. Prayers continue from so many of us that follow you.
Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better and I hope you are finally on the mend.
Hopefully Carole's pain will subside and you can soon go visit with her.
Take care and know that many out here in cyberland are thinking of you!
You are a wonder, Marly--always thinking of others in spite of all you have going on with your own health. It sounds like things are slowly improving for you and I'm so relieved. I was really scared for you, my friend. Keep on doing whatever you're doing because it does appear that you've turned the corner. Sending prayers, hugs, and all the positive thoughts I can muster! ♥
I hope I don't need it, but thanks for sharing what works for you. Some true classics - ginger ale, apple sauce, banana. Walking 10 feet without aid is good news. It sounds like your recovery might be slow, but hopefully it will be steady.
What a relief to hear your helpful/informative voice again. Leave it to you to rise up
and continue your caring about others... It sounds as though you have found an effective path to healing, Marly. A yes on the bananas and pedialyte... I just used both for a pick-me-up this past week. Praying that your recovery will progress to the point you will be up and about in relative ease and that you will be able to resume seeing Carole again. Your welfare should top the agenda, so take it slow and be pampered. Great
idea, that wedge pillow. Wrapping you, Carole and Mark in continued prayer. Have a
renewing weekend.
Marly, slow and steady wins the race! Thank you for taking time to update us. We’re all worried about you and keeping you close in thought. I hope they can get Carole’s pain under control. But, you take care of you and I hope each day gets better for you. Cherie in WI
Good to hear from you. So sorry it is so difficult. Hope and prayers for lessening of symptoms and increased strength every day. (((hugs)))
Oye...You've really been through the wringer GF... Still praying here in Nod and sending healing vibes and wishes.... Ginger Ale was a staple in our home growing up and used for almost every illness.... Don't know what we would have done without Ginger Ale, Saltines, and Vicks Vapor Rub LOL. ~Robin~
So happy to see a post from you. Hopefully you are on the road to recovery...and it is not a bumpy ride.
xoxo
Good news. Glad you are feeling better. It's time you folks to get a break. Will pray that your (and your sister's) healing continues.
Marly, glad you're making progress. Flat regular coke (open it and let fizz leave) helps upset stomachs.
All I can do is to pray for you and hope that this too will pass and soon.
So very sorry you're experiencing this illness. The fact that you can walk is a good thing.
I hope to soon hear that you're much better and can see Carole.
Hoping her pain will subside........terrible surgery so it will take a while.
Thoughts and prayers,

Glad to hear from you Marly and you did some walking. Step by step you are on the way upwards and hope you will be much better very soon.
Poor Carole-- sending love and prayers to her for pain relief.
Take care Marly, don't do to much too soon and take the time to feel well again.
Sending lots of love and prayers for you and Mark -- a big hug too,Truus from Holland
It is so great to see this post from you Marly. Take good care and continued love and prayers for you, Carole and Mark.
Marly, good new and thank you for update. Sound like slow progress back to health but progress at least. Good thoughts sent your way, soon back to your old self. Be well
Oh Marly, I am so sorry that you are dealing with all this. I am glad that you posted an update though. I will continue to keep all you in my prayers.
Thanks for the update. I was worried. I only wish I would have had access to Ivermectin back when I got COVID. Safer than Tylenol but doctors were being threatened by the government if they tried to prescribe it. More likely than not, had your health care providers given it to you while you were waiting for your test results you would have been up and about by now. This is all so sad.
God bless you Marly. All I can do is pray for you. I am dealing with the neverending extreme migraine. It has not stopped at all for well over a month now.
Thanks for posting, Marly. Continued prayers for your family.
