Masking the truth

Just a little tidbit, hope it offers a giggle.

I went to the store!  Got a haircut!  Visited Carole!  Then collapsed but I made it.

While walking to the check out, a man wearing a face mask said "hey, how's it going?".  Mark proceeded to tell him how sick I was, and I've seen how involved he gets in expressing this so continued down another aisle.  I didn't recognize the man nor want him to know about my body and its malfunctions, but knew Mark had shared the situation with friends.  Rounding another aisle to make my way back to the checkout, I see Mark still in conversation.  As I approached, the man said "I just heard your life story".  We wished him a good day and parted.  Mark asked "who was that?"

Whoever he is, he knows me well and every detail of my miserable month.  I doubt he will ever casually ask how it's going to another shopper.  Damn masks.

Marly: that sounds so much like Mike, its amazing how men can start a conversation and it ends up about the wife or kids.
I have people stop me by name and talk, I just cannot figure out who some of them are, I was a Reserve Deputy Officer, Mike was a Wright County sergeant so we came in contact with many people business and civilians, they know us but we do not remember them.
I even had a cousin stop me and talk, I did not know who she was had not seen her for 50 years.
I hope you are feeling better, I bet it felt good to be out and about.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving.

That is hilarious, thanks for the giggle this morning. Good news that you got out and to so many places, no wonder you collapsed when you got home.

A knee-slapping story...thanks for the laugh. So good to hear you were able to venture
out to so many places and able to make it back in one piece. Hope you can put your feet up and relax a bit for the weekend. How is Carole doing? I imagine she was happy to see
and be with you for a time. Praying you (and yours) a blessed Thanksgiving and a holiday of healing and recovery. Marly first for awhile.

Too funny! I'm sure your story will be repeated by this stranger to many others--you'll be a celebrity up your way, Marly. So glad you are able to get out and enjoy life again. Getting a haircut is a huge boost in my book! Take care now and have a wonderful Thanksgiving ♥

Well, anonymous you are not! As this man re-tells the story at Thanksgiving dinner, know that you, your ailments, and your husband's "friendliness" will be recounted with the story of the original Thanksgiving to children for generations1 Hoot! Hoot!

That is too funny. I’m so sorry to hear you have been ill. I used to read your blog all the time. But I got. Away. From blogging. I had the blog I worked so hard on for several years (http://sarahbethscross-stitchblog.blogspot.com) get hacked in 2015 and I could never get back in. Well I am starting a new o e with the same name as my Flosstube Sarah Beth’s Stitching. Hang in there. I’m praying for you.
