Thank you! The 469-471 I found as subs were for GAST and I couldn't find the big pit greenie (avocado) for CCW. Online photos look very similar between the two and are very close to the chart's photo. Bingo. The 471 seemed too bright so just to take the edge off, I dipped a few strands in a little brown dye for a second and it's barely noticeable. Seems to have quieted the shouting. It looks great and I would never have considered it without your help. Thanks!
I changed the 355 to 356 just to soften a little. And it's so nice to hold a small project for a change. I know this past year has been distracting to say the least, but I don't believe I've ever worked on a single sampler (Rachel) this long.
No visiting this weekend. Carole's nurse is positive now so I don't know when that will change. I honestly can't imagine how they wear those heavy medical masks for the ten to twelve hour shifts. No one, including departments that have no contact with the team, can be in the building without them. After two hours I am gasping! Monday's appt. hasn't been cancelled so I hope that doesn't change.
Enjoy your weekend.

Praying for Carole and her nurse. When will this all be over ? Covid I mean.
I think I remember using 356 for Santa faces.
Am into hearts and Valentines now.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs,

Every time I start to think I can't stand the mask any more, I think of those who have been wearing double masks and full PPE for hours at a time. AND willingly go back the next day and do it again. I hope Carole dodges the covid.
I knew your readers would come up with the answer to the floss substitution. What brand and colors of dye do you use on floss and linen? I am having trouble finding linen for a large sampler. Either it's way too mottled, the wrong color, or out of stock. I do have quite a bit of plain antique white, and am pondering if I should try jazzing it up myself. Is there a good book or web site you use for reference?
I know it. I find it hard to breathe also. Jacob wears an N-95 for his entire 12 hour shift except for his break, and he has asthma. I do not want COVID though. He does not want it again! He tells me he does not think he can do it again. :(
I don't know how anyone wears a mask for more than 10 minutes, especially if you wear glasses! My neighbor's mom really needs to go to a long term care facility, but they are reluctant to do so because every time someone comes down with Covid, they go in to lock down. How sad for the elderly, especially those confused who just do not understand why no one is visiting. Just heartbreaking.
It is so good to see you stitching up a storm!
Glad you are happy with your color change, Marly. I would never have thought of toning down the brightness of floss with a bit of dye... great solution!
I sure hope Carole's appointment goes on as planned on Monday. I tried my first N-95 mask on last week and couldn't even take it for 1/2 an hour. Suffocating! I don't know how those healthcare workers do it day in and day out. My mother-in-law's nursing home has seen a big outbreak of Covid among the staff, too. So far she has stayed clear of it. She will be 94 in a few months so we are keeping our fingers crossed that she stays healthy.
Hope you are enjoying the sunshine today--and hooray for missing that big storm that is hitting the east coast! ♥
Your color choices are always spot on... Yeah, the mask thing.... Why are you making me bite my tongue so much??? ~Robin~
I read someone's blog a few years ago where she dipped all her floss in brown dye to make it more prim. I haven't thought to dip any of my floss because I'm lazy and don't want to deal with dye, lol. I hope Carole's facility doesn't stay on lockdown long. It is so hard on the residents/patients when they can't have visitors. Praying her appointment goes as scheduled.
