but the pouching.
I have several deep red fabrics that will work nicely, but I'm thinking .... too formal for a primitive piece. That in no way means they won't end up as the backing. The pattern uses the linen front and back, I don't know if I want to do that.
The larger prints should do better on the next two because they are more uniform, less wonky, can handle a larger print. But if they are to be the backing, I will lightly mist with bleach to age, or sand.
The bottom right corner bugged me, so I removed the leaf vine and brought the right border to the bottom. Better!
I need to stitch at least one more before construction. Too distracted right now. I'm still not settled from the shock, and also worrying about the test. I need to go out of town or have a cath here. I guess it's silly but going to a new facility and dealing with strangers doesn't sit well. I had a reaction during an IVP to the iodine contrast (related to shellfish allergy?) so that adds to the anxiety. I know. I already have big girl panties so pull them up.
We've tried several plush creatures, some noisy, some quiet, Missy is not interested. She runs from a few and ignores others. Tomorrow the final attempt is coming. Solid black full size plush cat.
Wishing you all a wonderful and special Mother's Day.

I like the cotton print top left in the top picture, it looks less fussy than the rest and the background matches your linen best. Looking forward to seeing the finish, you are a very quick stitcher.
Good morning and Happy Missy's Mom's Day. Hoping that Missy will love the effort you are going to to give her some comfort. Bless her heart and yours. I told my daughter about everything. She said to tell you that her heart is broken.
I like the small print on the right just above the stripes. Just my opinion. Love your piece done all in red........my favorite color.
I've never had a "cath" but my John had several. I know it's not a pleasant thing to have to think about. Praying for it to be easy on you. Need you to take good care of yourself.
Hoping your day will be a good one. Wishing Carole a Happy Mother's day too.
Hugs, love and prayers,

Happy Mother’s Day. I like the small print, lower right. Good luck with your procedure.
Such a pretty little sampler. My choice of the fabrics you show would be for one of the small floral prints and not the large flowery or the stripe ones.
Poor Missy being so lonely. Sad to see and I wonder if you've considered adopting a new little live one to become a new friend for Missy and part of your family.
Thinking of you and hoping for good healthful results.
What a beautiful little sampler finish, Marly! I love the 'new corner'. I like either of the small florals. Hope the solid cat works for Missy! You are a good kitty Mom. Have a blessed Sunday.
Do like the top left one fabric of the first picture for your beautiful sampler. You are such a quick stitcher!!!
Did you do a bloodtest to see if you are alergic to some medication?
I am and had a bloodtest for CYP 450 and I cann't have several medication or injections.
Marly do you have something where Nitzy was lying on so the smell of Nitzy you can rub on the furry cat you bought for Missy. Perhaps that will help.
Take care and tell the people you are anxious and don't react very well on the stuff for the examination.
Thinking of you and sending prayers, Truus from
Years ago they made these really lifelike dogs and cats that had batteries and would actually slightly move up and down as though they were breathing. I had one that I gave to my mom a little Shih Tzu because she loved our Gazoo so much but couldn't have her own because my brother and his family had moved in with her and had a large dog. The fur was quite realistic too. Before I gave it to her, I had it in my office for a day and the staff went nuts. Well, "went" nuts is a bit misleading as most of them WERE seriously nuts...but you know what I mean. What I think would look great as a backing is the simple grain sack...you know the Osnaberg type fabric with the red stripes going through the middle?? I had a border like that on a piece I stitched last year and just stitched the stripes.... Good luck with the medical stuff. I had my first cath on Good Friday...totally unexpected and it totally freaked me out. Sorry, that didn't help your anxiety, did it?? ~Robin~
I like the top left print in the first picture for a possible backing. It seems to be in keeping with this beautiful stitchery. I hope Missy likes the new "friend". Best wishes for your procedure. I get the anxiety of working with a new facility. I hope you have a good week.
Wow, you are a quick stitcher! I would still be choosing the linen!
Health problems are truly the bane of our retired existence.
I like the smaller prints but that's just me. I think the stitching is the star of the show.
Take care!
I like the small floral on beige (shown bottom left of your piece) and I love the "fix" to your right bottom corner - well done!
I like the lower left print and especially the way you resolved the lower right corner border.
Hope Missy's period of grieving will pass and that all your procedures will be accomplished with ease and improvement in your condition. That damnpanic certainly laid the groundwork for maladies we might not have otherwise experienced... Good health to all and I hope Carole will
see things your thoughtful and spot on way.
