Meet me in the middle EDIT

 ...... or not.

We have counted.  And counted.  And then we counted.  The top is correct and aligned with the linen thread, also the guide line.  The left side is over one linen thread in width to the left which I followed and planned to correct in the bottom.  Each vertical count is proper, yet the left is lower by one full stitch.

WHY

Edit - found it.

Raining, cold, furnace is running for two days, and a small piece of fabric has taken control.

Perfect day for a crabass.  But still many blessings to be grateful for.

I don't have covid, please take care Gail.

The find-

I was counting the four and one spaces of each side of the flowers in the border rather than the tiny squares they rest on (easier for my vision).  All correct except for the that extra stitch between them which added one full stitch, yet still kept the four spaces on one side and one on the other side.  Glad I only stitched one half of the cross, anticipating an error, for easier removal.

I’m glad you found the problem, Marly. I know it drives me crazy when there is a mistake and I can’t find it!! This is a beautiful sampler. I love the fabric and the thread colors. Good luck with all the medical issues. I hope you can get some answers. I’m not sure where September went, but we’re one month closer to spring!! Take care......Cherie in WI

I'm glad you found the problem. And thanks for another tip - stitch only the 1st leg of stitches on a border until they match up. That's one thing about the things I've been stitching - mostly no borders, so if I get a motif off by one stitch, I can fudge it...I mean adjust the rest. At least so far.

Feeling much better today.

Well, dang if you aren't getting clever in your crab-assiness. Glad you found the issue and can fix it relatively painlessly. Cold and rainy here too...we've had frost. And so it begins. ~Robin~

Luckely you found where it went wrong with the border.
Last I had the same issue and counted the border over and over again, but didn't find the problem. Then I counted the border at the chart and found what went wrong-- my counting on the chart went of by one stitch....
Please take care both of you,Truus from Holland

I never stitch borders ahead, only as I go along then can “fudge”. I am not a “frogging” fan at all.

Crabass dahling.... see, you solved it... wasted crabbing.... This is
turning out to be one beautiful sampler...so enjoy the battle. We
bought the stand out of watermelon this summer...a daily summertime
cooler... found some to be not-so-great, but in general, a delicious
pause on a hot day. Now on to Fall fare... Praying your medical issues get resolved very soon. Take care.
