And the answer is ....

stay off your leg for a few months, if you do walk, no slopes, gravel, steps.  Saw the PA again, he showed me the MRI films and explained it all.  No idea regarding sudden onset, but cause without injury may be arthritis.  The medial meniscus tear on the inside is bad, repair would be arthroscopic.  But they can't do that.  He explained that the radiology reports are more generalized. They assume this was an accident or injury, have no history of your symptoms, and your doctor's interpretation is specific to the patient.  In other words, stay off the internet.

My condition is tibial bone edema (at knee joint)), and according to the PA, extremely painful.  Really?  He is surprised that I am not in the pain I was for weeks, attributes that to the 3X steroids and Meloxicam.  I received a cortisone injection, a follow up appointment in seven weeks, and instructions to rest it, brace it, ice it.  It can take six months to heal, and hopefully will if I follow orders.  I've never heard of this!  Fluid builds up in the bone marrow/bone, pressure then caused the small fracture.  So no matter how much better my knee may feel in the coming weeks, any slight twist or misstep will aggravate and extend healing time, and rest is crucial.  I was not expecting this.  Of course, it could be much worse, rest is not a bad order!!  The pain is manageable now.  But it's summer.  Or was since August is next week.

So what's on the tray after Whittaker?  Several in mind, not sure yet.  Also not sure if he will be sewn together soon since the machine and backing choices are upstairs.  Depends.  One step at a time.

I saw Earlene's post on FB showing a sort of half wall of horizontal (pallet?) wood and loved it.  Decorated with plants and various goodies, great display.  So I had hubs add corner shelves inside our air conditioner enclosure.  I may hang a wreath or small flag to the front, next year maybe a flat back wall planter.

Now the view from inside is a lot nicer!

The cats were continually spraying it and the ammonia ruined the condenser fins of the last one so we decided to protect it.  Always great garden ideas from Earlene and Lauren.  Thanks!

Enjoy the last week of July.

Thanks for visiting!

Well the good news is he didn't restrict stitching!

I'm glad you got some answers on your knee, and the cortisone injection finally. I've never heard of the fluid inside a bone causing a fracture either. Odd that the PA said they can't do arthroscopic surgery to fix the tear? I hope the rest/brace/ice orders work. And that you follow through (thinking of you dealing with Carole's demands/requests and your desire to get out to the gardening).

I like the addition to the AC screen. And Whittaker turned out so cute! I hope you can get to the sewing machine (or the machine down to you?), so he can join his partner. As you say, one step at a time, literally, if you do go up there.

Good to have some answers Marly. Lots of rest means more stitching, right? The AC screen looks great and the plants on the shelf are perfect.

WOW! That would be a very hard diagnosis for me. I am up and down stairs all day and never just sit and rest. Best of luck to you and hopefully you will heal quickly...and stitch lots.
LOVE the a/c screen. I know Earlene and one day would love to head to see her gardens!!! I am sure she puts me to shame.

Hmmmm....complicated diagnosis...I'm not sure why they can't do the arthroscopic surgery? But, thankfully you got the injection. I am sure by today you are already feeling improvement and they told me sometimes it takes a full week to feel the full effect. The hard part will be staying off your feet. Eeek. They would have to put me down. Love your inner shelves on your enclosure. I have a fence like enclosure for my a/c unit as well but, over the years, it has started tipping/leaning forward and I can't find anyone to fix it. Can you send your hubby over? ~Robin~

Hi Marly: Finally, a diagnosis, I hope you are able to stay off the leg, it must be hard having you stitching upstairs, I would be going crazy not being able to get to it.
I still have you in my daily prayers for healing, I know that if there is any swelling any kind of surgery is not a good idea unless in an emergency.
I love seeing what you are working on I do hope you are able to finish that adorable snowman and have him next to his wife, so cute.
Stay cool it's in the upper 90s this week.

Hugs
Catherine

I am so glad that you finally have a diagnosis. It may not be what you wanted to here, but at least there is now a plan for healing. I love the plant shelf additions to the fence that hides the A/C unit.

Well, finally some context to your pain! I also question why no arthroscopic surgery. There has to be a reason, maybe they want the bone swelling to absorb before intervention???

Rest is so hard for someone like you. Always working on the next project. If you can make accommodations for Carole's limitations, I'm sure you will think of something.

I am totally loving the A/C fence. Mine sticks out like a black tooth. I will show handy son, maybe I can make something similar, great idea.

Take care, rest, stitch, hugs and prayers!

Love the A/C screen. Glad you finally got an answer regarding your knee pain. Don't understand why they can't (or won't) do the arthroscopic surgery. Praying it heals.

At last you got an answer, but it is hard no walking only just in case.... Hope you can cope with that for a while.
Can Mark take your sewing machine downstairs so you can finish the snowman?
Love the fench for the unit.
Please sit down and take care....Truus from Holland

Well, I'm so glad you finally have some answers, Marly. It will be very difficult staying off your feet as much as possible. My sister (who is a runner!) had to do that for about 6 months and it was so hard for her, but it did make a difference. At least you have one hobby that requires you to sit still and not one like running... Think of all you can get stitched. I know...it's still going to be hard. I'm glad fall is coming and you wouldn't be outside as much anyway.

Really love the screen you found and Mark built--will have to show that to my son who has a big ugly AC unit right outside his kitchen. It looks great! I love how you have the ability to see a photo of something and then make it come to fruition.

Take care now and I hope this heals fully in time ♥
