Is it me?

Truus suggested a tin for the little guy which did not work, but led me to check an oval box.  Yep.  He fits perfectly on this 5" box.  I have been very confused and feeling quite embarrassed with this project.

I purchased the 4" paper mache box as in the supply list.

The design is 4.5 x 4.625.  ??????

How well did I pay attention to the chart?

I didn't catch this, nor the supplied template for the drum being 4.5".  Impossible to fit inside or atop a 4" box. And I've been fighting this, oblivious as to why, and wondering what I did wrong.

So.  Am I missing something and this makes sense to you?
Frosty has two finishing options, but I really can't work on him any more right now.

Working on a quick and simple sampler to calm my needle ...

I should use the charted colors but this was handy.  That's how flustered I have been!  Solid or additional colors that I find under a chair?  Depends.  Am I dusting the floor soon?

Be well, be safe, thanks for the visit.

No,you didn't miss anything. That was obviously a mistake. I'd say you need at least a 5" round or more depending on how much of a margin you'd want. I hate it when that happens.

I like the oval box with him much beter than the round. Who is the designer of your primer? I looked for Stacy Nash but the top border of her's is different. Going to be very pretty.

I'm even more confused than you are as I am not sure if the original model was finished as a drum or on a round mache box? Sometimes, though, with the drum type finish, the template contemplates the design coming somewhat down the side and the top will be somewhat domed, so it may very well end up being 4" even though the stitch area is actually 4.5"? Do you follow what I'm trying to say? Ok...maybe not. In any event, I am certain your finish will be perfect. Liking your new start. ~Robin~

Would love him as a box ..although he gave you woe, he is quite impressive, as most
of your "mistakes" turn out to be. I would wager there is no dust under your chairs...
it wouldn't dare.

Apparently you can make a Top Hat box to keep the drum in, using the 4 inch round box and the plaque - see this link ...

The instructions don't say that, as I have the pattern too, but never stitched him as I thought he looked a bit scary.

I stand corrected Marly, the instructions for the Top Hat box are on the back of the pattern, which I obviously didn't see.

When you use the round template for a top finish, you have to use some filling underneath so the top is not flat. So than your Frosty will fit within the size of the circle.
Understand you are confused by now put Frosty aside...you will come up with a perfect solution!
Looking forward to your sampler, Truus from Holland

Sorry for your frustration! I do like the simple sampler you are working on.

I got no idea. One minute I think as Truus said, the top of the drum is intended to be puffed up. The next minute I think it's a mistake as that seems awfully skimpy allowances on the template for folding under, so a mistake.

He'll be adorable no matter how you finish him.

Marly, I have no idea, either. I don’t have the chart to take a look at. And, after your fiasco, I’m not sure I want it! I’m wondering what the 6” wood circle is needed for, if he’s finished on a box? He is adorable and I’m sure you’ll come up with a perfect solution. Cherie in WI
