And again

Is this routine for 46 count?   Has anyone had an issue with broken threads?  I was continuing on the inner border and came up to this .... another break.  The next stitch requires a thread there.  If in an open area, fusible facing would be my choice but I need to weave here.  Repair won't be very challenging since the replacement's tail can end in the e and the other end in the margin.  How many others are in this small piece?

Linen threads in places are as fine as a hair and could easily cause multiple placement errors, but I've been very careful, no frogging which surprised me.  The photo has a red background to show the break better.

Two more small pieces coming in the mail, will try to compare with this one but these breaks are very difficult to see until you are ready to place a stitch.  Both are this same color from Zweigart.

The teal row and the borders are all that remains.  Do I want to work other projects on this piece?  Waiting to see what the mail brings.

I do not at all remember thread grain in a post.  I paid attention after learning this, threading each end of the same strand was definitely different.  One was more difficult because the twist was unraveling, the other end did not.

I found that Quest Mobile is offering in home blood draw for lab work at a cost of $55.  Since Carole pays more than twice that for a motorized chair transport, she's smiling.  Of course anything other than blood work is not offered, but certainly a benefit for those with mobility or transport issues.  There are several others that offer this service depending on your location which I found searching online.

Hope your day is warm and sunny folks.

Well now you're making me very 46ct leery. I'll be awaiting your report on the new pieces you've ordered. I'm glad you found a less expensive, and more convenient, alternative for Carole's blood draws. Who would go out when they can stay home?? (Rhetorical question at least where I'm concerned. ;-) ) Freezing rain and snow moving in tonight. ~Robin~

Your linen looks very coarse and open for 46 count. In a previous post I was going to suggest that you should try stitching only with a good make, like Zweigart, but I see this is Zweigart, I am very surprised. I wonder if this particular brand have somehow got hold of some inferior product, perhaps seconds, and marketed it as Zweigart. Such a shame.

This piece of linen is not the quality of Zweigart-- never have had this with linen of Zweigart.
You will fix this perfect, but it is a shame that there are so many broken threads.
Have a sunny Easter weekend,Truus from Holland

Yes, I've seen broken threads and a lot of unevenness in the width of threads. It can be tricky - especially on the higher counts and stitching with only one thread.

Your sampler is looking mighty fine, Marly. Too bad about the threads breaking. I wonder if it was a bad batch of Zweigart or due to the processing if it is a hand-dyed. Have a pleasant Saturday.

I've grown, processed and spun linen, woven it, sewn it and stitched on it. It is one of the sturdiest fibers we have. If yours is breaking or pilling, it is very badly spun, mixed with something else, or both. The uneveness of the threads is another warning of the manufacturers' lack of commitment to quality, both in the materials they're sourcing and their own weaving. I have to wonder about what Truus said - if you've been sold a piece under the Zweigart name that is not Zweigart.

Is this the 46 ct that you bought at Hobby Lobby. I bought the same linen but haven't used it yet. If you are having this much trouble with it, I might return mine. Your samplers is looking good even with the problems.
