Hello all you stitchers who are actually working on a project, big or small, with enthusiasm and intent to complete, along with the desire to pick up another project at the same time, or if not, to at least be contemplating the next design to be worked, colors of linen dancing in your head, choices of threads dangling from the chosen fabric, excitement at the first few stitches of colors on that blank canvas, driven to continue on as the design comes to life, the bittersweet final stitch......
Sounds like fun - so what's my problem? I'm still not ready to commit to a larger project. In fact, I've been so busy with outdoor hard labor that I really haven't had time or energy to focus on a project. Contractors promise they will show up for work, and then make you wait and wait. Back to stitching. I haven't visited Antique Samplers for quite some time, but did this evening. I even forgot that you have to click the years at the bottom of the page to browse. Amazing wonderful samplers. I started at 1826 -1850 because I'm the type that starts a magazine from the back. Ann Bowness, Ann Campbell, Agness Buchanan, Christian Cochrane and SO many others that have houses or buildings as focal points, which is what attracts me to a larger sampler. Quite a bit of interesting information on samplers also, well worth revisiting. As you know, you can spend hours clicking on each one. I'll be doing just that, hoping for motivation. My goal is to continue with smalls, but also have a larger project started. Lucy Redd is what I chose but ..... not sure what the but is! Procrastination? Probably. Preoccupation with turning 60? BINGO!!

been browsing on the bay of evil at some sampler charts :) some lovely ones out there ,,, but not ready to get one yet either ... and PFT your age is nothing a mere spring chick ..lol .. hope you get back to a bit of stitching soon :) love mouse xxx
I'm going to have to check out that website, Marty. I stitched the Lucy Redd sampler years ago, but I cut it short. My ADHD won't let me sit that many nights on one project!! Turning 60 is great..that means I only have 3 more years to work..well...2 1/2!
I need to settle down and make some progress on one of those BAPs that you are talking about. It is very hard to settle down sometimes to stitch. Enjoy your time looking at other samplers and projects. Sometimes that really recharges my stitching!

And if you're doing hard physical labor, then 60's nothin' but a number.
Eek. I need to go check out that link. I've been slogging away on BAPs. Love them but I feel like I've been stitching on the same thing forever!
Oh I have to go check that site out! I'm stitching away but I know I'm going to have a great deal of trouble deciding on my next project. I have stitching overwhelmia. lol! I love BAPs, but I need to stitch smaller things. I'm running out of wall space!
I'm going to have to check out that site, but I don't need the creative juices flowing - I already have so many projects going that it would probably make me crazy to go shopping!
You definitely need to start a larger project. I know that all the other things take your mind away from it - no fun with all the physical labor - but you just need to start one....just one...!!
I loved reading the comments on this post! I am like you right now, can't settle on anything big yet so I have been working on smaller things though not "smalls".

ps my DH just turned 60. He's still ticking! Nothing bad happened. (LOL)
Isn't that site wonderful. I love going there and exploring. I find the most wonderful samplers that I would love to do, but unfortunately they aren't charted so I'm thinking at having ago myself. That should get my creative juices flowing.
That is all I seem to do BAP's, but I also have Margaret's problem of wall space. That's one of the reasons that I like working on 40ct. It sort of helps the space problem and I like finer needlework.
I turned 60 last birthday and I'm still here lol. Just wish I had more stitching time to sit and sew. Maybe I should forget about housework lol. But I think I would complaints from the peanut gallery at home if I did that. Pity. - Sandra.
I just found your blog and have thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts and am now a follower. Your stitching is absolutely gorgeous! I too love perusing the Antique Samplers website. Such beautiful pieces...if I could find the time I would stitch them all!
