My other wire baskets I line with two layers of burlap, fill, and plant. I put slits in the fabric and poke starts in the sides, eventually flowers cover the entire pot and no one sees the burlap. Doesn't matter to me since I like primitive style crap anyway. I've covered plastic pots with burlap too, and tied it on with raffia or jute.
I haven't put this swing out for the last three years. We had it custom made for mom, and you can see the handle on the post that she used to pull herself up. Big swings were too unwieldy for her so I found someone to make a single. We had it positioned to watch her from the kitchen window so I see it all the time, very hard. But I love to swing in it like a little kid and remember how she enjoyed her special spot. You can see another new paint can that hasn't rusted yet.
Tonight I will work on that Pears Two chart since the supplies were pulled a while ago. Part of why I'm procrastinating is having to find the linen, figure the size, and CUT it. Grow up girl. It does no one any good sitting in a drawer. If a project was ready to go, I would certainly have started it, but I really hate searching through linen and trying to figure out the count. Excuses excuses. So this came to me when I was digging a hole.....do we have a patron saint to pray to when we are in stitch distress? You probably all know that we do, but I didn't. She is Saint Clare. I found her story here and I enjoyed the article. Another article from the New York Public Library is here. Technically she is Saint Clare of Assisi and developed Assisi embroidery. If you are like me and unaware that stitchers have a patron saint, it is pretty interesting to read. Never did I expect to find her when I Googled for patron saints. Maybe she and I will have a long talk tonight.
Thank you for visiting, commenting, emailing, and putting up with stitching absentia. Not sure if that is the correct term for my affliction, but I don't care. I own it. And it ends tonight!!!

Oh I have the same problem with starting projects! All the prep is a definite hurdle for me, which is why I don't tend to have startitis like other stitches. I didn't know St. Clare of Assissi was the patron saint of stitchers!!!! That's sooooo cool! I loved St. Francis of Assissi when i was young, so I know quite a bit about her as a result since they knew each other and all. Now that is cool! I'm totally jazzed about it! lol!
Love your garden touches. So nice! Good luck with starting the next project! And happy belated birthday! (I'm turning 50 in July!)
Oh my, I so want to come sit in that swing and enjoy your lovely yard. It is really lush and inviting looking. Can you tell I live in the desert and am longing for a drop of rain?
Love the paint can flower container. Very clever.
And yes, you do need better scissors.
Love your garden pictures!! I am ashamed when I look out at mine but have to admit that I have no interest in it. I like to buy flowers and plants and look at them, but actually care for them? Not interested beyond watering them.
I LOVE fancy scissors, especially the scissors from Kelmscott, but have to admit that I also use a trusty pair of Fiskars! Mine have a black handle, though. ;)
I love St. Clare. Don't forget about Ireland's St. Brigid--she's the patron saint of creativity.
Love your garden ideas, fabulous. I should do that with my paint tins. Although in the UK everything gets recycled now, the Dutch are even better at it, I had to get used to the black refuse bags here but the van doesn't fit in my single lane.
If it cuts good it's ok to have plastic, I have fiskars too they are the best really, keep the fancy ones for display only:))
Will have a read on Saint Claire of Assisi, sounds interesting and Assisi is a wonderful technique.
Belated Happy Birthday:)
Marley...I didn't know we had a patron saint for stitching! Maybe if I pray really hard I'll become a faster stitcher. And the scissors??? WHo needs fancy scissors anyway. I have a pair of Gingher that I have had for years..actually they look like manicure scissors not embroidery.
Your garden looks beautiful..I love the swing. Such a nice memory of your mom. Happy belated birthday...they say that 60 is the new 40..so live it up!
Oh, I love your recycled paint can. I'm going to do that since my husband has about a zillion around here that he can't throw out for some reason. Love your garden and I wouldn't be embarrassed by those scissors - I use the same kind and love them.
