Hello everyone. It has not been a good week and this is just a quick post to show you two projects that I've sewn into pillows or ornaments or whatever the heck they should be called. I'm making progress on Lucy and continuing with errors that have become the norm with this project. I still love her. I'll show her when it's complete. This is Lydia Hinckley finished.
She is hung over a pretty large basket that I purchased recently at James Creek. I also visited another shop that I love, The Olde English Shoppe, which I am afraid is closing. Their place is fabulous, prices too high, but their buyer brings in some unique pieces. I heard another shop in Boardman Ohio that I didn't even know existed, closed two weeks ago. The basket is from Ragon House Collection, painted, and very stiff, but it's large and only $20.
The second finish is a sweet little delight with some over one stitching. I used my standard 28 count and it would be very tiny on a high count linen. Because of its size, it looked lost on this basket so I moved it to a cupboard and chose Lydia instead.
This design is older from Chessie and Me but still available.
I purchased a few new charts and when things get better I will show my new stash. Oh. One more thing. I got a lovely letter from Barbara Blundell who stitched my last freebie (memorial) for a friend who had just lost her father. If you would like to see Barbara's finish for her friend, visit Aimetu's Stitching. She did a lovely job and it's the first time I saw this chart stitched ~ it looks as I imagined it when charting. Barbara wrote that she will post her own photo of her finish to her blog later this week, and I want to thank her for writing and showing her work.That's about it. I hope things improve for you and it becomes a good week. Love how Lydia Hinkley looks on the basket -- too bad the store is closing. Love the Chessie and Me finish too -- it looks great on the cupboard there. I hope Barbara does show off her finish of your design -- I'd love to see it stitched.
Marly, Lydia turned out very nicely - and looks terrific on the basket. Sorry that Lucy is still causing you issues. It seems there are those pieces out there that just beg to be ripped out over and over. Unfortunately I usually don't catch the error until well past it and it has compounded into major disaster. You kinda caught my attention when you said James Creek and Boardman Ohio--if it is James Creek Gallery in Volant, we live about 15 minutes from there!! We shop for lumber in Boardman as well as Rulli's italian market--about an hour away. James Creek has a craft show in June that I am hoping to find time for this year--trouble is, it is right before a BIG show we have and I am in crunch time then!! Hopefully this year! Stay well, Jan

Hi Marly, I have been enjoying your blog for a while now, and I too have to say you caught my attention when you mentioned Boardman. I grew up in Poland, Ohio and now live in Philly. My mother still lives in the house I grew up in. My husband is from New Castle. I will be taking several trips back home this summer and I was wondering if you could email me with a list of shops that my mother and I could go to. It has been such a long time since we went shopping together and we used to love to "shop hop" around. You have such great primitives back there. That basket is so neat! Lydia looks perfectly at home on it. And I love your little finish hanging on your cupboard, too.
What a shame that all those shops are closing. My in-laws live in Poland, OH and I never even had a chance to shop at them! Any other good ones in that area?
