It's official - 61!!

Hello young people.  That includes youthful old people.  Two things before stitchery talk.  My friend Patti, who many of you said a prayer for, gifted me with her beautifully stitched patriotic ornament and a round box with one of her label creations.   I think she should start selling!  You also see Ann's gift (which I've moved many times) with the jar filled with my chewable calciums.  Great way to keep them handy, and I keep taking the basket off because I love looking at the perfect weave.  To fill the spot I originally placed it (and may return to) one of my boxes fits pretty good too.

I'll be done with Santa soon and need to chose a sampler so here's my choices.  Both of which I think would be excellent projects after my struggle with Lucy.  The majority of my reproductions are from The Scarlet Letter, but these two new purchases are Threads through Time.  My oh my.  I'm sure you already know how wonderful these instructions and diagrams are.  Huge easy to read chart with stitch counts circled, colors noted, quirky areas outlined.  Eliza Pumroy has more types of stitches than I expected and lots of borders, but with this type of help, I think I can manage.  What do 'ya think Lucy?

The Eliza Jane Stiles isn't as large but is still a 4 page graph with very detailed written instructions including areas to pay special attention to.  Those areas that I usually assume are repeat stitches, which technically they become, because I have to remove and repeat.  I just realized they are both from young girls named Eliza.
This really made me happy - both graphs have the stitch count of each section of border!  See the numbers circled?  And areas that could create errors also circled.  My kind of graph!  This is why I'm feeling pretty good about starting either.  If I have more problems right from the start, I'm not sure if menomaniac will appear.  She looks like me, but I can't trust her.   I'll make my decision and choose a linen tomorrow......oh no.  The linen drawers.   Count?  Color?  Cut it?   The Pumroy colors appear pretty bright so I'll pull everything first and there's always the possibility of changing a few.
That's it.  I'm ready to close with a photo of my doe eating one of the dozen hot dog buns she consumes daily.  So I did the spell-check.  Menomaniac is still not in there.  Neither is menobrain or hysterectobelly.   Who do I write to about this?  As far as I'm concerned, these are actual conditions more identifiable than the slang currently being included in our dictionaries.
Hysterectobelly is REAL I tell you and ask any woman over 50 if she knows what menobrain is.
I'll stop now.  Have a beautiful Sunday, stay safe, and thank you so much for your comments and visits.

Does this mean I should say happy birthday? Or am I misreading your post title? :D I like your choices of new stitch -- both are nice! Love seeing your goodies too. The doe is so cute! So I guess she knows where to get her treats! lol!

Happy birthday!

I love the display--what a beautiful gift! I am contemplating skipping the patriotic stitching and going right for Halloween. I haven't done anything yet so figure the longer I procrastinate, the more my decision is made!

Love both of the samplers--I say start both! ;)

Happy birthday, Marly! Lovely gift from Patti and I like how you arranged everything! Yep... Meno all sorts of things. Hate it.
Both samplers are wonderful; can't wait to see what you decide. I also number the border stitches on a chart because there's almost always a place or two the count changes. Glad to know a designer is doing it for us!
Does feeding the deer hot dog buns keep them from eating your flowers? Looks like it is.

How do you keep the deer from eating your flowers?

Beautiful stitching

Happy Birthday! Today is mine. I turned double nickels. I completely empathize with menobrain. Oh, can you tell me when my body betrayed me and everything I eat lands on my hips?

Anyway, I love both of your sampler choices. Whatever you chose will be beautiful. And your gift from Patti was very thoughtful. Love your displays. I steal your ideas (shush, don't tell Marley!)
Hope you had a great birthday!

♫♪♫ Happy Birthday, dear Marly! ♫♪♫

Yes, I'm a tiny bit younger, but just a few years--hard to believe the 60s are upon us, isn't it? I hope your "new year" brings much love and laughter and less menobrain :)

Love your PS gift from Patti--I was just thinking of stitching that one myself. Either of your new sampler possibilities look very stitch-worthy. Enjoy pulling the perfect linen and threads!

Hey Birthday Girl!!
I hope that you had a lovely day and you continue to recover from your tumble.
What lovely gifts. Jane should sell her boxes.
Both samplers are lovely. I think I like Eliza better. But it might be the colors in the pic of the other one that is effecting my choice.
I hope that you have some stitching time today!
Hugs!

Where have I been? I missed your drawing AND your birthday! Maybe you're still celebrating the Happy Birthday month... hope so! Those look like finely detailed charts, so enjoy them both.

Was it your birthday? Well, Happy, Happy birthday if it was!

Gosh, I don't know which of those samplers you should do. That second one scares me with that outlining for the stitches. I suffer from menobrain too so I'd probably avoid that one.

Just skimming through blogs this morning and read the first part. I love the box in your wooden prim box. I love these prim type boxes and have never seen one with the rounded bottom edge. I think your box looks quit perfect placed there.
Have a wonderful Sunday. Will read more later.

What???!!! I missed your party??!!! WTH???! So sorry!! Happiest of belated birthday wishes my dear, dear, Marly!!! Hope it was spent with those and doing what you love the best. My gift to you is that I will not sing to you. (After all, crows aren't known for their singing voices....) Love your sweet gifts from Patti - and I'm gaga over anything basket by Ann.

Which sampler to start??? Hmmmmm....I vote Eliza. ;o Ok....Ok....I'm kinda partial to the second Eliza....Eliza Jane Stiles....Mostly because I like "Eliza Jane." And - wow....charts really come like that?? I thought it was the designers' divine sense of torture to make us suffer.....I'll have to note that designer away in my little pea brain (or, what is it you call it? Menobrain???) Love it.

Happy new week ahead! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (PS - Is that a photo of your home in your header???? GORGEOUS!!!!)

I think I am finding out what hysterectobelly is. Menobrain is next I'm afraid.

Happy birthday, dear Marly. I hope that you had a wonderful day.

Don't think that I should go near Menobrain at the moment. Finding that I am doing some mightly strange things. Best one was going out wearing 2 different shoes. Luckily I went to my Sisters and now I have a new pair of shoes lol. Like your Eliza's BTW. - Sandra.

Great pic of the dear deer!
Menomaniac. Perfect word to describe me. Ten years of hot flashes will do that to a person.
I'm sure we'll hear adventures from whichever Eliza you choose :)

Hi Marly and Happy Birthday again! Keep celebrating!!! Both Eliza's look like fun and your displays (as always) look fabulous. Love the photo of the deer. Haven't seen ours in awhile...once the apples on our tree get a little larger, they will be coming in to dine. Hope the weekend was fun! Vera

'Happy Birthday' Marly ... Better late than never.
Wonderful display and she should be selling these boxes.
How wonderful to have a doe visit you on a regular basis ... are those HD buns really OK for her? Guess that's what keeps her from your garden plants.

Enjoy your new project, whichever it might be,
Barb

I have 10 years on you, but we both share the same birthday -- Happy Birthday to you!

I vote for Eliza -- love the simplicity and the colors. You will know when you pull your threads which one will be first.
