Carole is bright. When I think about it, our color preference reflects our personalities. She is very outgoing, has more friends than anyone I know. On the other hand, the last two decades I've become more reclusive, snarky, less patient, less tolerant, and not a lot of fun. I can't stand most people. That's a shame. Drab. Then again, I have a friend whose favorite color is black and she's more sociable (and highly opinionated) than most. She annoys the hell out of me.

So here's the plan! Carole prefers bright (which is how this post began), so bright it will be. For me, I would prefer the taupe vase color for trim. I've never racked a rick before and hope it goes well. Barely noticeable is my attempt to tone the green somewhat but polyester does not accept dye. Still, there is a slight difference and I believe it's just enough. Whatever I dye, I keep a small wet piece to compare and it's on the left. We'll see how the sewing portion goes. The chart will be listed for the giveaway tomorrow morning and I will have enough time to stitch one for myself before it's mailed.
Carole's weekly gruesome appt went well. The surgeon said it looks a little better, less debriding, still looks like a scene from a horror movie. Better is good.
And Rachel healed nicely from her wounds. Once the new linen thread reaches the stitched area, I pull the broken and the new to the back and run them to secure. I've been waiting for a NWP sampler release to spend my gift, but I may purchase the B Keyes Ultimate Motifs book. Highly rated, may solve my dilemma with Rachel, and offer a lot of options for tree ornaments and the multitude of changes I usually make in samplers. Until then, I will stitch my Bluebird and two samplers are ready to go after.
My root canals are not for two weeks since although in practice only four years, he only works three days a week. He could see how bad my lips and mouth were and said to wait for the Sjogren's flare to calm down. I agree. I just hope those weeks do not tilt this to an extraction. How you can go from no problem to borderline save in such a short time baffles me.
Have a good day!!

I can see the slight difference in the green rick rack, Marly, and I have no doubt Carole will love this finish so much! So you are going to stitch this for yourself, too? I'll be curious to see how yours looks compared to Carole's.
Glad Carole's wound is looking a little better--baby steps. And I admire how you fixed the thread in Rachel--can't even tell there was a problem! I've heard good things about that book as well and I'm sure it will be so helpful for adding little motifs like you enjoy doing. I'm not much of a sampler stitcher, but if I ever need help, I'll know who to call :)
Hope your Sjogren's flare calms quickly and that your root canals go smoothly. Take care now ♥
You’re so funny! You’ve got lots of blog friends. Those are fine too.
Carole is lucky to have you and it sounds as if she’s doing ok
Glad to hear Carole continues to heal (albeit slowly). Any progress is progress. Good luck with the root canals - I've had one and it never bothered me (despite everyone warning me how horrible it would be). Lovely stitching as always Marly. Your work is beautiful.
Hi Marly, I always read your blog and totally enjoy every word!! I just wanted to let you know that Rit Dye makes dyes for polyester things. I’ve seen the bottles at Hobby Lobby.
I too now sit in the dental chair with trepidation over whether tooth can be saved. I’ve not neglected my teeth, but have oodles of work done. I’m 74 and things are different in many ways.
Really? I annoy the hell out of you??? Oh...ok....maybe you weren't referring to me since I am NOT sociable by virtually anyone's definition of that adjective. But black is my favorite color...and I have been known to be "highly opinionated" if you can believe that. 🤣 Seriously...and sadly....I can so relate to the other part of the comment about becoming more reclusive and snarky, less patient and less tolerant...and most times less fun...although there still are times. 😶 Can't believe you'll be able to stitch another bluebird piece before you give away the chart. I am a pathetic stitcher. ~Robin~
I can relate to the description of yourself, you could have been describing me. As I get older I care much less about what others think of me, I`m less patient and more blunt but in some ways I think that`s good. Gotta cut through all the BS in life and get to the point! Kinda reminds me of Petey...he`s still nice to have around! Your sense of humor is the best and you`ve certainly needed it the past several years, you and your family have been through so much and your own health issues continue to persist. I have so much admiration for you, you are such a thoughtful caring lady and the best sister to Carole! Just taking the time to continue with your blog posts despite your eye issues is a feat in itself.(Thank you by the way, so many of us look forward to them.) I am in awe of your linen repair, I can`t tell there was ever an issue with it. Your projects are always wonderful and I love that you change colors or motifs as you desire. If I was your neighbor I would bring you lots of Valentine`s Day chocolate.
Hope it will go well with the root canals when the inflamation has got down.
Great to hear you will stitch the blue bird for yourself too because it is such a lovely chart.
Carole will love your stitching with the rack around the stitching. A little step forwards with her wounds so hopefully it will healed in time for going home.
Take care and stay save with sending healing prayers for you and Carole.

I like the greens you've chosen with the bluebird. Like you, I'd probably use a more restrained color for a project I'd be keeping.
I'm glad Carole's leg had some improvement, and that Rachel got fixed. I hope the delay for your root canal doesn't lead to more woes. Now can things go to crap so fast and have such a long slog to recover?!
