Vintage cloths

May is half over.  Even on the planet I've been on for months.  Earth too?  Amazing.

Thank you so much anonymous!!!  The only baby blankets I saw were knit and even with cotton, not smooth enough.  But thanks to you I found the muslin!!  No sewing, here in a few days.  THANK YOU!!  Carole said the vintage embroidery would be very nice, may use them for a few pockets on the muslin.  Holy crap.  My shriveled lip just cracked open.  I think I smiled!!!!

So here's the task that needs a prompt solution.  Carole will be going to a nursing facility possibly as soon as tomorrow.  If no rooms are open, she will be sent back to the transitional unit here they watched her leg rot for weeks.  Because of kidney issues after the contrast dye, she will need to return within two weeks for procedures on the right leg.  That one may be saved.  Pain prevents movement, or sitting with that leg down, and she doesn't want it in view.  I'm thinking the fleece or napped material most wheelchair throws are, is as wrong as can be, too warm, and some are quite large.  So I decided to rip apart another room searching for the midweight chambray fabric that was once here, or in my imagination, and not to be found.  But that search uncovered the vintage tablecloths that were cut up because of stains to be used for do-dad sewing and bags.  Cotton and linen, two the perfect size (36" or 40" sq), others could be sewn back in four sections.  Pillow cases could be sewn together with seams and edges of colored binding.  I'm sure I could locate other small tablecloths, solid or print, no nap to leave lint, lightweight.  Does it matter if their intended table cover purpose is obvious?  At least until I find an alternative or create a throw, it will have to do.  Most cotton fabrics today are too flimsy as a single layer.  The vintage cottons and linens have excellent body and I think a much better option.

 I've been lugging ten petunias and seven ferns in and out for a week because of this cold weather.  Eighties next week, and I will take Carole's to her house for Chris to water.  I don't know how, but she expects to be home soon, and she can be once she is approved for home nursing care, and confined to bed.  We have a lot of work to do there for accessibility.

Continuing

 One day good news, two days poor, yesterday better, today worse.  Expecting an update from the doctor at the Clinic some time today.

Margret had a few more changes, and whether caused by spite, anger, intention, or error, all are just fine.  When concentration or focus is out the window, (following your laptop and anything else ticking you off), a sampler like Margret Withrow is the perfect project.  She is accepting of frustrations, intolerance, moods, choices, thoughts, emotions.  No judgement, no criticism, allowing you the freedom of your own will.  Very glad I found her.  

My house is loaded with very large petunias we must dodge in every room.  Baby it's cold outside, has been, and will continue, so inside they must stay.  The Paradise Vista has very thick stems which are breaking easily, and since it's early in May, I trimmed them along with the others.  In two weeks the plants will be more dense with twice the flowers.

For many years the front of our house had red geraniums, or a mini tunia in white.  Not those tiny million bells that never survived summer, a little larger.  Hoping this is it.  Covered in flowers all summer hanging several feet below the pot.  These are only 8" pots but will be moved to a larger.  For $9, I may go back to check other colors.

Bubblegum and Paradise

 Nothing good to report so I won't.

Visited the Amish on the return trip from the Clinic (she was kept), Carole requested her Vista Bubblegum and I am trying the recent color addition to the Vista line, Paradise.  It's raining so not a good photo.  She wants six ferns and I need a few, haven't found the rock bottom price offer this year.  We may go this weekend, free Amish donuts at one nursery that were the best I ever had in my life.  I can't identify the hint of flavoring used, nor can I bribe them to spill the secret.

More pink/coral than the Fuchsia, but probably will not be as prolific and massive as the Silverberry and Bubblegum.  But I don't really give a pink petal what they do.   No date on the sewer excavating, no plan for restoration of the back area.  Nor the money.  This summer will not be leisurely or pleasant, and will probably pass as swiftly as spring has.  Chilly, possible frost, very cool nights all next week.  Please Nitzy, do not spray our flowers

Losing another molar, the third, because of a dental hygienist that failed to recommend perio surgery during my twelve years with her.  She is still in that office, arrogant and unapologetic.  A root canal in another is also needed, can't schedule until we know more from the Clinic on Monday.   But I will suffer through that donut tomorrow, my Anbesol tube in pocket.

Constantly changing

 We'll be heading to CC very early Thursday, but from what I've heard from others, after laying in rehab unable to move a leg of stone while it continues to turn black, probably can't be helped.  Don't even ask, too lengthy.  I have been out of patience for some time and now I am almost out of Ativan.  

When distraction, anxiety, worry, fear, and grief have acquired too much property in your brain, and hormones left you too long ago to fight back.

The hut

The cave.  Seeing an empty bed at night and early morning is heart wrenching isn't it?  As frail as he had become, we were surprised to see him scratch deck posts, chase Missy to the woods, and jump on the bed several times each eve to snooze next to Mark as he watched a game.  So I carried him to that bed and Mark took over stroking him until the very end.  Thank God for the mobile vet that added us.  She kept in touch throughout the day making sure Bud was comfortable and not in pain.  He had a stroke, mobility was hampered as was eyesight, but we were talking and touching him so he was not afraid.  His final day was calm and quiet, snoozing in his hut as we kept him company.

  Mark visited Carole, came home and saw Nit in Bud's freshly washed hut, yelled to him to get out - that's Bud's!  Gives us a head turn too since he is the image of his dad.  Mark is having a hard time after the last few months, more so than he expected.  Missy has not stopped meowing.

The left side of Margret (36 count PTP Legacy) is stitched, and I doubt I will take it to Cleveland but who knows.  Everything has been undecided, unplanned, postponed, cancelled, rescheduled, for both Carole and myself  for months.  So why waste time choosing?  Better to kit a few (which I rarely do) and throw them in a bag.  I'd like to have new books ready in hopes she will be recovering in a facility.  Nightmares wake me that she will not. Macomber and Karon are her favorites.  Are Susan Wigg's stories similar?   She's read a few Evanovich and Patterson but as soon as blood and guts are mentioned, she's done. Historical are too involved for her.

My Budman

 We have no idea when your birthday was, month or even year.  You were a faithful companion to your Missy, and watchful dad to your son.  The only one of this rescued crew that wanted attention and touch.  We will miss you dear boy.
