Hello hello hello. Hope you're all well and enjoying your day.
In prior posts I've confessed this
"I
don't follow the rules, I don't baby the linen, I snack while I'm stitching, I
leave the needle(s) in the fabric, I knot the floss, I've wet and machine dried
a finished piece, I don't use glass anymore, I even used a heat gun to quickly
dry a spot, I insert plastic, I glue seams. For those of you that fainted, my
apologies." That was taken from this post. As I'm stitching Eliza with the excess fabric rolled up and held with safety pins, a Dove dark chocolate with almonds (my new favorite) nearby, a full cup of coffee sitting on the bench where I throw the project when I get up, I was reminded of my confession of being a reckless stitcher. I have another. I'm a sampler snob. No longer can I see cute projects and want to stitch them, or even a newly designed symmetrical sampler that would look fabulous in someone's home. Just not mine. I learned by working on reproduction samplers but did other pieces, including angels from Told in a Garden. The shops I had here many years ago displayed samplers large and small, framed and not, mostly on unbleached linen and all reproductions. I was in heaven. The one in town displayed more traditionals and florals which was OK back then, but not now. I enjoy seeing the variety of your work and admire it, but unless it's primitive in design, a reproduction, or a marking sampler, I have no desire to stitch it. So many designers have projects that I would like to do, but I end up purchasing and not completing. I thought it was because of my home style that is turning toward stark primitive/colonial and these designs don't fit in, but I don't want to stitch them as gifts either. I'm a sampler snob! I know that everyone has a preference of designers, tastes, and styles, but I think I've become very rigid. Santas, ornaments, pinkeeps are still delightful and these smalls are the exception.
I think that about wraps up my confessions.
The kitchen man has not called and I'm getting concerned. I emailed the plans and he's probably thinking ............ she's going to change it again. Well I'm not. But I did come up with another idea. This is a photo from The Seraph of a corner pantry.
And this one is from Bridgewater Primitives.
I don't want either of these, but I came up with a plan for something similar.
My husband will be coming home from fishing soon and we're having hot dogs, baked beans and cob corn. I try to watch fat intake so I got the "light" weiners. You know why they're light? Because half of them is missing! They're a little thicker than a pencil. With enough chili sauce, hopefully he won't notice.
Have a great day everyone - thanks for visiting.

p.s. Giveaway coming soon - I know why but I don't know what.

I to stitch with a cup of coffee on the table. If it spills and stains the linen, oh well. I like it primitive. I'll just stain the rest of it as well. Dove chocolate!!!!
YES!! I too am a snob but for Just Nan pieces. Not so primitive but a great stitch. Love your work as well. Keep stitching, smiling and enjoying yourself.
The corner cupboard is going to look wonderful there. I love the one from the Seraph the best. I have slowly gotten rid of all my "cute" cross stitch patterns...I too realized I only like to stitch certain designers and type patterns. Can't wait to see your kitchen all finished.
well, I usually have a glass of red wine nearby in the evening when I stitch...coffee in the morning. So far no tragedies...but with a new kitten it is just waiting to happen. Funny how tastes change over the years isn't it. I need to go through my stash and pull out all the stuff I bought years ago and never stitched and for sure won't now! Hope you haev a great weekend.
I think we might be the same person.... or at least we are twins separated at birth! Everything you said.... it's me to a tee.... :)
Have a happy weekend, Marly!
Well, I wouldn't call us snobs, just strong-minded women who know what we like. Life is short, and there's no sense stitching things that don't completely ring our bells! I don't let food or drink near my projects because I'm a klutz. Poured over a document at work--no problem!
I'm glad to read this. I'm a new stitcher compared to others (less than 5 years) and I've always wondered if I would be frowned upon for some of these same habits!
Your kitchen will be wonderful no matter what you choose! You have great taste which you've demonstrated over and over.
We love your stitching. You can be any kind of snob you want to be.
Hugs :)

That is a great idea using that other wall.It is just the right size and shape. You will be very happy with it. if I had that kind of room I would do the same thing.
~enjoy~

There shouldn't be rules- you should stitch what you enjoy!
I don't tend to like rules and seem to have broken some of the same ones as you. :) Love seeing your kitchen ideas and can't wait to see the finished product.
Well, if you're a snob, I don't know what I would call myself, I'm always changing things. I can never stitch a chart as it appears. We all have our ways of doing things!! I'm not totally primitive but I love your kitchen ideas. Have you seen the kitchens of David T. Smith? I would give a lot to have one of his!!!
Where would we be if every single stitcher completed the exact same charts? There's no fun and probably no creativity in that! Some of the most popular pieces (judging by the blogs I read) I would never, ever stitch. That's just me. I love seeing your work because it reflects who you are. Keep up the good work!
I'm glade to read your news and I love your stitching and ideas.
Have a great weekend.
ciao
Your coffee nearby gave me chills....this evening as I was preparing to sit and stitch, I leaned forward over my table next to my chair to set down a 12 oz glass of ice water and it totally slipped out of my hand (which had just been lotioned after doing dishes)......WATER went everywhere...our newly laminated floor, all over several floss-always with various fibers I was pulling for playing
with a small piece, a Liberty Hill box filled with variious items of crap, underneath the glass table top covering a game board piece stitched about 20 years ago, into the drawer,
in a basket on the floor which had binders, charts, about
12 small WIP's on rods rolled up standing on end,
all over our dog's pillow that sits between my chair and my husband's (our dog is a 75 Lb. standard poodle...it was a big pillow)......I didn't utter one word of profanity (and believe me, I've been known to use some doozies)....I'm sure by now you get the picture......I'm grateful it wasn't my glass of Merlot that graces that tabletop occasionally...a word of advice Marly and all of your fans, drink it all down before you sit!
Reading your Confession Time post back when you posted it is what turned me into a knotty stitcher & all I can say is thank you! Thank you!!! I so admire your decorating ideas. You've got a real gift : )
I love your stitching. You just described me. Can't wait to see your finished kitchen!

I stick to reproductions pretty much too. Nothing bad about being a sampler snob. lol! Good luck with your plans on the kitchen. I like your new ideas.
I usually, well always have a mug of tea beside me when stitching. The only mishap is that I am always putting orts in the tea instead of the tin mug ( my Grandfather's old shaving mug). Would love a new kitchen myself, I have my "Dream kitchen " photos printed out, it is from Kennebec kitchens...every so often I pull out the photos and well you know... dream. Hop your guy calls soon.
Stitching takes up so much time... I think that we would all learn to only pick the favorites that we will truly enjoy the process of stitching on. I've only learned that recently, as my stash was getting out of control. I absolutely LOVE the idea you have of the corner cabinet! Looking forward to seeing it completed!
Hi Marly! Mmmmm...Bridgewater Primitives! It seems I shop all 3 weekends in their booth at Shaker Woods, then spend the whole next year trying to decide what to buy next time when Shaker rolls around! I think as we get older we fine tune what appeals to us because I certainly am looking at some things around here that I wonder why I ever bought them! --Jan
I say stitch what you love or don't stitch at all. I thought there were rules in doing cross stitch. I like the way you think !
I love primitive design too. I think it's so warm and cozy and fun to live with.
Will be happy to see your remodeling finished.. I'm sure you will be too.
I just had a cup of coffee right next to the key board on my computer.. I guess I'm living dangerously too.

This post made me smile a couple of times.. Thanks for that.
I love both of them! It will be a mess starting the make-over but it will be worth it! Dianntha
How could anyone stitch and not eat or have a cup of coffee?? You did not mention whether you use a hoop or frame. I hate them! So cumbersome. I would love to know if you use one.
