Some women like jewelry...

and I prefer old wood and rust.   Patti knows this and that's exactly what she presented to me for my birthday.  She really knows how to decorate in a primitive style and has an old hook on her door which I love.  So she came to see my mess and brought this...

a fabulous rusty hay/bale hook.  So I played for quite a while, hung it upside down over a door, and ended up with my rusty paint can on a post.  She also gave me a sock darner in the same shape as my mom's, which I rarely see.  Mom's is the top right and my gift is bottom right.

Thank you thank you thank you Patti!  She such a great girl and could use your prayers once again.

No one commented that they have used the Alene fabric tape, so I will buy it, give it a try, and report.

Here's Eliza - I'll be starting the big bottom soon and there are satin stitches and lazy daisy in that area.  Yes, that's a binder clip you see holding the excess linen.  Quicker and safer than a safety pin.

And I have a perennial that was given to me by a friend who has passed, and I don't know the name.  It's the brightest, clearest yellow.  It makes new buds beneath the bloom and continues this way for a month.  At night, they close.
That's all I got.  I'll be back tonight with the winner of the kit.  I have all the names entered and will wait till the last minute to scramble and draw.  Just in case a hot flash disrupts my memory, I'm setting the timer.
Later!!!!!!!!

I'm with you Marly, give me rusty and old any day over jewelry! Wonderful bale hook and the sock darner is wonderful too, I've never seen one like it. Eliza is looking lovely and sorry, no help on the name of the plant but it is beautiful. Happy day! Deb

I love the gifts you received! Just my style too. :) Eliza is so pretty - I've probably said it before, but I just love the colors! Could your flowers be Evening Primroses? They're beautiful.

I'm with you Marly. Keep the jewelry, keep the shoes and handbags, I'll take something old and prim every time. Happy Birthday by the way. Mine's in Aug and I already have my gift picked out :) A tavern sign painted on an old raised panel. Aug can't get here fast enough LOL.
Love your yellow flowers. I have them too. Given to me by my 80 something yr old neighbor and I do believe she told me they were primrose. Smiles, Nan

I have those yellow flowers too and didn't know what they were either. They are very prolific.
Happy, happy belated birthday.

Are the flowers maybe Missouri Primrose? Do they spread, Missouri primrose does.
Leave it to you, Marly, to come up with the perfect way to use an old hay fork. I've had one for years and would never have thought to hang it with a bucket!

Very nice gift from Patti. Love your style!
Wow...that sock darner is certainly close to your mom's . It's a sort you don't see every day.
Sorry I've never used that tape. I'm anxious to see what you think of it.
Hmmm...a binder clip. I might borrow that idea.
The name of that flower is on the tip of my tongue but I can't seem to spit it out right now.
Happy weekend!!

The hat bale hook is perfect for hanging the pot of flowers. Your creative mind is endless. LUV IT! Now I want one. I have my Mom's old sock darner just like the black one on the left. It is special to me too.

Peace,
Barb

Yes they are evening primrose (Oenothera). I was just thinking of these flowers the other day. I used to have them years ago and thought they would look great at our new home in SC. They do multiply. Now I will have to get them for sure. I love them.
