Sidetracked

Hey.  What's happening?  Is your cat food in the bathroom, your fridge in the dining room, your dining room in the parlor, your food in the basement, and your socks full of stain?  Do you know under which sheet awaits your stitching project?  Did you waste hours having floor stain custom matched, only to have them then tell you that they won't be getting any in until Friday afternoon?  Did you want to rip the face off an arrogant and nasty manager?   Did you go elsewhere and have it mixed beautifully, come home and find out that it looks orange in your home and not as it did in the store?  Did you run out to get more of the dark walnut to add to it and have an 82 year old make a left hand turn into you as you were proceeding through the intersection and total your 10 year old favorite car with only 40,000 miles on it?  Are your arms and jaw numb?  Are you afraid to have an MRI and hear bad news?  Do you have any idea what to do for a vehicle since 10 year old cars are worthless?  Did you know your "deluxe" auto insurance has no allowance for a rental?  Did you go home and stain the flooring because the floor pros were coming to topcoat it in the morning?  Did they tell you it would be dry in 2 hours and they would come back for the final coat at noon?  Did your floor not dry at all?  Did you have to take the never used front door off its hinges to get into the house because it's now the only way in?  Did you get mad enough to walk on it anyway and stick to it?  Did you find out that the final coat has AMBER in it which will make your floor orange since it was custom mixed to match the already amber adjacent floor?  Do you have a choice of clear?  Are you fuming that you didn't know this?  Did you know another product can't be used over this first coat because it is a two step finish and you have no choice but to have a pumpkin floor?  Do you have a headache, feel shaky, stiff, bitchy, and hot?
 WELL DO YOU?????????

Then join me in a toast to being alive, and being able to accept the foul balls that we are thrown.  As foul as they are, they would feel like over-the-plate home runs to others dealing with much more, so swing away and be thankful.
Until you get the results, and then be mad as hell.  Be thankfully mad.
It's OK.
We can be both.

Embrace your day!

I'm very sorry! Yikes.

I work in a law firm, so I can tell you this: get an ambulance chaser. You need a personal injury firm that will sue the other insurance company for a higher value on the car (yes, it's 10 years old, but there's more calculation to it than that). Get them to take the case on contingency. Have your new lawyer get them to pay for your MRI and also your physical therapy. The other insurance company will not tell you anything but "no." The law firm will get you a settlement and will take 40% of it, but you will get more than you would otherwise. Your insurance company is not going to go to bat for you--it costs them money.

And I'm happy you're alive to post.

So sorry so many things have gone wrong. The most important thing now is to get yourself checked out thoroughly so you can stay healthy and able to handle the rest. Soft hugs and strong prayers headed your way.

Oh Marly! It could have been so much worse. My favorite car was our red Escape. We are on our second one, it is 5 years old and white.
I am still suffering with burning stomach for 2 weeks and "we"(doctor and I) haven't fixed it yet!

Bless your sweet heart Marly. What do they say about "Murphy's law". I certainly am sorry about everything that happened to you, your car and the stain for your floor.
It would be a good idea to have the MRI, just in case. I will be thinking about you and hoping everything will turn out for the best all the way around.
August has not been a good month for you. Hopefully, September and the remainder of the year will be much better.
Best wishes, Charlotte in Virginia

Things are piling up for you beyond the breaking point, aren't they! Definitely get an MRI, & definitely have the floors sanded & redone.

You are quite a woman... go thru all of that and still keep a sense of humor and a thankful heart for what you do have.

I am proud of you !

Oh my goodness!!!! I and I thought I was having a bad day! I have a very hard time with color in the house. I painted one poor wall 5 times until I got the bright idea of painting poster board and then hanging it around to see what the color did at different times of the day! So glad you are safe and so sorry about the car!!!!

Oh yes, definitely get a lawyer! Irregardless of the age of your vehicle, it is still your mode of transportation that the other driver disabled/destroyed and THAT'S why we pay for dang insurance!! You are the wronged one, and the OTHER insurance has to pay--simple enough! And get yourself checked out on their dime too! Big fat hugs to you!

Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry, Marly. One thing to keep in mind. You can "buy" the car and pay for the repairs yourself if the problem is that the car is too old. We had that happen to us with Hurricane Sandy. The car insurance wanted to total it, so we "bought" it, and became responsible for paying for the fixing it ourselves. Still have the liability on it, but that's it. It was a whole lot cheaper than totalling it and buying a new car. We still have the car now. and it's doing fine, knock on wood. What a day you had. :( Sorry.....

So sorry you had such a terrible, awful, very bad day!! Please get an MRI and a lawyer (although we got a little more for our 1989 K-car threatening a lawyer and due to very low mileage. Also I had an accident many years ago and had whiplash. Didn't go to the dr. and now at 56 I am paying the price with stenosis in my neck. Please get checked so they can help. Good luck and you are in my prayers.

Wow--what a day you have had. You are right--yell a little, take deep breaths and be thankful for being alive. It could have been much worse. No matter how much we are attached to our things --they are just things. I hope the floor isn't as bad as you think it will be....Hugs to you and prayer for a better day tomorrow!

Well I gotta say I feel stiff, bitchy and hot too! The heat is killing me, my arthritic knee is depressing me and I'm limping around and work is kicking my you-know-what. Glad to know I'm not the only one in this mood Marly! I hope things start to look up soon and you get the floor and other things fixed just the way you want them. Hang in there, it won't last forever.

Oh no Marly...all this sounds terrible. Hope you're feeling better soon. As much as you don't want to, you should probably get to a doctor..sounds like you have some nerve issues going on. Insurance will take care of your car problems (use it, that's why you have it).....I know that must be hard..you loved that car..but they are replaceable...you are not...so get to a doctor.

I hope that you are ok, if you are not feeling better please get checked out. I am so sorry about your car.

Geez, that is a terrible day! I'm glad you were not seriously injured. I'd say I hope tomorrow is better but it would have to be better than all that!

Oh Marly, what an awful time you are having. Please take all the advice given above, especially about being checked out. Is your car absolutely totally irreparable? It might not be. Insurance companies dodge and dive every time don't they? I hope things look better tomorrow. It's a small comfort in troubled times, but look at all the lovely people wishing you well. You will just have to gird your loins my lovely, and kick all this hassle into touch. Good luck and extra hugs. Irene xxx

Marly, the orangey stain has happened to us many years ago. We, I think, had to resand and redo.
If you do not mind, I am going to pray for you physically first-- please get MRI. And also for your car situation. The same thing happened to my friend but it was a truck. They kept fighting insurance company showing photos and mileage and finally got acceptable amount. So that is what I am praying for-- the right words to use and a receptive brain on the other end of conversation. Love you and wish I could help you in someway.

Oh what a day! I was in an automobile accident three weeks ago - a car came across the median and struck me on my door, continuing down the side and back of my car. All of my airbags went off and thankfully my daughter (27) and I were OK. But after he hit me he took off never to be seen again. My car was an 8 year old Honda with 103,000 miles on it and I had hoped to put another 100,000 miles on it...the insurance company totalled it and gave me about $10,000 which I guess I was lucky to get. Here's what I decided to do - I leased a brand new car because in three years time my old car would have been worth nothing so at the end of driving brand new car for three years I would have nothing also. Never thought I would lease a car but I am now. I hope you can work something out - just glad you are OK.

I am sending prayers that all goes well with the MRI...I trust you ARE going! You certainly have had more than you share of "issues" to confront lately.
I wish you the best regarding the wooden floor saga...5 years ago we had ours sanded and a new floor put down in the family room...all went well until the sealer was applied and ALL the floor turned BLACK...some issue with the new shipment of sealer!!!!!
I'm hoping the weekend will bring you much needed peace.
Busy Hands...Happy Heart
Patricia
