Hey. What's happening? Did you have a good weekend? Mine was fairly productive with labels and dyeing. I've decided that spending hours of my time on an extensive variety of labels is not smart. I should have learned by now, as with the tags, that some designs are much more popular while others have no orders at all. So I am limiting the choices. But which? My favorites are never the best sellers so I guess I should pick the opposite.
There were a few unframed samplers hidden in my house mess that I tried to use, and decided to dye. Yep. I thought I was done but I still have a few bottles of Rit so.....
This one was a strong yellow/gold so I tried the Pearl Gray on it which is in powder form. There is always one tiny speck that doesn't dissolve, usually red, and it ends up on the piece, never to be removed which is why I much prefer the liquid (not available here in the gray). It happened again but the speck is on the very edge and won't be seen. The gray and black dyes create a purplish reddish cast in the water when you only mix a small amount so why this gold piece became green is a mystery. That's why it is best to check a corner or small scrap first. The original dye in the linen could react differently???? I decided to drain the sink and try a little black which has a slightly different reddish cast than the gray (red and green = brown) hoping to remove the green. It worked. Beautiful natural brown color. Whew.
Notice the floss has toned down but hasn't really changed. Scary isn't it? Using such a small amount would not change the piece drastically, but you never know the outcome and you probably think I'm RECKLESS to be doing this to a finished piece.
Why, yes I am.
Did get a little stitching in and hope to continue this evening.
I always avoided road trips because of my neck condition and now, with the accident making it worse, I really want to get a brace for wearing in a car. Maybe that isn't necessary and it will never happen again, but am I willing to chance it? Only with linen baby!!
Added note....if you have tests done and don't hear from your doctor afterward, don't assume it's because they were fine. I insisted my husband call for his results and good thing we did. One doctor obviously never checked the report, the other never received it, and the numbers require attention.
Tomorrow will be 90 degrees and then drop to 60's by Friday. Mark is off this week and we have lots of things to do, but I will sit my butt on that swing tomorrow until it's as numb as my arm. I want to enjoy the atmospheric hot flash which will probably be the last one this year.
Thanks for visiting! Enjoy your day.

I want to try darkening the Santas that I'm stitching.. I've read how you put water on the beards to they won't take on color.. After all that work I'd hate to mess them up.
I'm sorry you're having a problem with your neck. Pain it not a good thing. It takes the pleasure out of stitching. I hope it will get better some how, some way.
It's going to be hot here in Va. the middle of this week too. I love the cool fall weather. I hope you'll enjoy the "hot" part of the week.
Take care..

You are one brave soul Marly. I'm glad that your dyeing session was not disastrous! It worked! Sorry to hear that your neck is still in a lot of pain. I always call the doctor's back because I've heard that they don't always read the results and there could be something that is off. Hopefully things will be okay for your hubby!
Oh sorry to hear that your neck is in pain..get well soon sweetie..
Glad you had a fun busy time with dying...
Big hugs x
I love the dye job you gave to Hannah Bingham! Sorry to hear your neck is still bothering you, Marly!

They dye and re-dye job turned out great, Marly! Sending good thoughts for Mark.
Love the dye job! I think you are smart to get a collar to wear while driving. I agree that if you have tests & don't hear back from the doctor, you should call. I once had some tests done, heard nothing, & assumed all was well. When I went to see my doctor for my followup appointment, he asked why I hadn't called to come see him sooner. He asked that a letter be sent to me regarding my tests & the need for me to see him sooner & I was never sent the letter. Either that or it never reached me. Enjoy your day on the swing!
Well, guess who is waiting for the doctor's report from the scope? For almost a week now?! Guess I will be calling. They said to allow 2 weeks. Take it easy. I am praying for you both.
It's looking good with the dye job! Getting a neck brace for the car sounds like a good idea to me. Sorry your neck is still not good. Hope things are ok with your DH -- what's with the doctors not getting the results? Geez!
I don't think you are reckless, I think you are brave!Hope all is well with the DH's tests. I have heard some bad stories about results not getting back correctly.
Marly, you live on the edge. So glad that your dying comes out great. I am a chicken when it comes to something like that...or I am lazy.
Have a great day stitching!!
Nice job with the over dyeing.
The piece looks marvelous !

Reckless? No, adventurous is more like it. Turned out great. Hope your dh is ok and your neck pain decreases soon.
I too have neck problems that cause arm, hand and finger numbness. I hope you get relief soon.
Keeping you and your hubby in my prayers.
