Good day to you all. Is time passing quickly for you? The month of October and all its colors quickly faded to holy crap it's November, now it will be the 10th already! I remember when my family decorated a week before Christmas; years later people started mid-Dec., then the beginning, then Thanksgiving, now mid-Nov. Back then, it was much more of a religious holiday to the majority of people, kids were in church every week (like it or not), and that aspect of life created a second and more dire consequence to our bad actions. So to speak, there was hell to pay! My cousin's son who was taught in school that we knew Pearl Harbor was to be bombed and welcomed it so rich people could make money, was also taught that there is no God. Yes, they teach their beliefs here instead of allowing kids to form their own. Recently, he told me that aliens put us on earth. I asked him who created the aliens. ???? No answer young man??? Go ask your teacher. Please don't take yourself away from your phone, open some books, research, and develop your own thoughts. Just go ask your teacher. He has every right to his beliefs, but so should the student, so let them do some work and come to their own conclusion, whatever it may be. Yes, I am ornery and in one of my weird moods this morning. Even though we got great news that a biopsy was negative, I still couldn't sleep last night so I'm crabby.

My Squeaky wasn't in the condo with the others this morning and I hope he returns soon. It's a very sad day in my area because of a horrific auto accident that killed two local students and severely injured their teammate, badly injured two young children, and killed the man driving them.
I wanted to go to a shop in Ohio having a Christmas show this morning, but since my neck doesn't turn as well as Linda Blair's did in the Exorcist, I can't get into a limited parking situation flooded with cars. Probably not a good idea anyway. I always shop early in the day but after the appointment we ran into Wal-mart around 5:30 and steam was coming out of my ears. I can't take inconsiderate people blocking aisles, screaming names at their kids, waiting until it's time to pay before taking out their wallet, or better yet - get out the checkbook after checkout is complete and THEN start writing the store name and date, shouting as if they were at a football game, and other rudeness that seems to be the norm these days. Yes, I'm an old school crab. I believe in respect, manners, courtesy, consideration, a helping hand, and a smile for others. But some days I would like to............
Is it me, or menopause? Don't care at this point. Just get the hell away from me!!!
Enjoy your weekend, drive carefully, hug hard.
Thanks for visiting.

Guess I am a bit of an old school crab too then. Our kids AND US are in church every week! You betcha! Makes quite the difference doesn't it?! Hugs to you Marly. And Squeaky. If we could touch him that is. ;)
Oh me too,,, I hate waiting in line to pay only to have the person ahead of me not be prepared to pay. DUH get your credit card out, your id out, your cash, checkbook, whatever, as she is ringing you up...Have the name of the store, the date filled in before you have a total if you are writing a check.. Oh yeah this really ticks me off.
Marly ~
You have such a way with words :) but are spot on with everything. Life is definitely different these days and not for the better.
Hugs :)

One word....AMEN!!!
Well if agreeing with you on the state of our society ... including many schools ... makes you an 'old school crab', then call me cranky pants! But there are good people with good hearts out there ... I believe we need to celebrate them.
Love Love Love your new Santa ... he looks like he will be quite handsome! If you are ever ready to part with some of your old PS Santa charts, please remember my name ;) I've been searching for a few of them for some time!
I'm way beyond menopause, Marly and it doesn't have anything to do with it! I think somehow manners, kindness, thoughtfulness etc. are in short supply.....when I enter a business(think Starbucks as an example) I will hold the door open for whoever is behind me.....most people will say, "thanks or thank you", but many youngsters (anyone under 30) sail right on by with no comment.....occasionally I'll say, "have a nice day"
And by the way, you all have a great day!
I share your low tolerance for inconsiderate people... and also for people that can't seem to realize they are not the center of the universe... it's not menopause... it's one last struggle to have hope for mankind and the future of society... lol! I sure hope Squeaky is ok... time to get stitching here! Have a blessed weekend!
Marly, what moosecraft said!! So true so true
Love your new Santa, I have also been searching for a few of the Prairie Schooler books and found a few but some are very hard to find and when you do they are very expensive, like $48.00 for one! Yikes. Oh well I will persist and WIN!
Have a great day.
So, so true and so so sad! Mannors and respect--what? There are still some youngsters out there with it..but most just act as if we OWE them something. Hard to imagine them making decisions for the world..oh wait, maybe they wouldn't do any worse! Love your green santa! Have a great day.

Happy Saturday from another crab-ass! What's up with what's being taught to our kids?
So sad about the tragic car accident by you. Seems we hear too much of this kind of thing.
Love your green Santa... and the idea for the memorial ornaments. We always think of our relatives/friends who have passed on at Christmastime, and it would be nice to remember them in such a way.
Enjoy your weekend!
It would make a cool memorial tree indeed if you stitched a bunch of those in different colors for all your loved and furry loved ones. Like your new Santa. I tend to go shopping early before the crowds as well -- too annoying and frustrating otherwise. And it's getting to be holiday shopping time, which is worse. Yikes.
I love the green you are using on that latest Santa! That is going to look great. I know what you mean about rude inconsiderate people...especially found at walmart..blocking the aisles with their carts..grr.
Marly, I don't think you are an old school crab ass. I think there are a lot of "assinine" people out and about now days who don't give a "hoot nor a holler" for their fellow man.
I hope your Squeaky kitty will come home and be fine. I know how it is when we don't know where our pets are.
I love your green Santa.. I know he will be gorgeous when finished..
I like your idea for a Memorial tree. Christmas is the special time of year when we miss our loved ones so much, whether two legged or four legged.
So glad the biopsy is negative.
Blessings,

I am an old Crabby-Ass too. I believe in respect and kindness to all creatures. It pains me to hear the way parents speak to their children. And it scares me a bit too because if we are at this level of obnoxious behavior now, what are we going to be like in another 5 or 10 years? I guess these folks just don't believe that their children are learning from them.
I hope Squeaky comes home. My Stripe didn't and I think he became a midnight snack for the coyotes. :(
And your Santas! Oh my! I LOVE THEM!
Oh Marly you are a gal who speaks my words!!!! I too feel these things about people the way you described it.
But oh your cousins son is so mixed up - how sad and it seems he's at an age that he will continue to believe this forever....so sad.
Be crabby dear friend for all of us who can't stand 'people'...not that WE are perfect either, but I do think all of us here show respect for the other person and think about what our actions or non-actions will do to someone else 'behind us' in line or wherever.
Hang in there friend...tomorrow is another day.
Blessings on the tests being negative...this is wonderful news.
Hugs,
aren
Ditto to all comments from the TNLadybug!
Sending you sweet hugs x
We tend to do our shopping really early or really late. It's simply faster and that means more time for fun!
You've picked out a great green!
I agree so much with you. I taught for 30 years and would have been fired if I tried to force my ideas on my students. I tried my best to simply teach them the tools they needed and the ability to THINK!!
You tell it, Marly, I stutter...
Civility and knowing your place in
God's world kind of went hand in hand...not to mention a grateful
heart.....almost unheard of in some circles today.....but don't
despair, just hold out for encounters with kindness and caring for your dose of hope and
pay little heed to the ignorant...
"Teach me to care and not to care.....T.S Eliot Thank you for
today's giggle.
I have to agree with you about the lack of manners, consideration and good moral values most people have these days. That's one of the reasons I limit going to crowded places. I heard about that fatal accident. So sad.
Just love your post today....
My dear friend ... you are so right in your feelings about the people in stores & what teachers are teaching nowadays.
THUS, my time of homeschooling and my daughter who has ALWAYS homeshooled! In my travels to stores and malls, I have thought about this and come to realize there are just going to be people out there who, because of THEIR upbringing (most probably without God at ALL, but lots of times without a stable family environment), turn around and perpetuate the madness! I look at them as 'lost' and pray they will find their way. Life has so much good for us to enjoy--I choose that! I'm not perfect, and some things just 'get' to me too... but then I ask myself if it will matter in 5 years? Or even 5 days? Puts me back in perspective, and I move on! Glad the biopsy was negative! Big Hugs!
P.S. I bought a couple of patterns that were to be stitched on 50-count gauze (insane!) and just stitched them on fabric I liked! Seeing this design, together with your idea about honoring those who have passed, has lit a little genealogy bug in me, where I can combine my love for the two! A genealogy tree! I'm excited now! Thanks for the great idea!!
I was feeling this way on Friday! I was so angry by the time I got home. People rushing around like fools - almost knocking me out of the way to pay before I even had my wallet picked up from the counter. I always pick it up and move aside to put my money away. but this person didn't even want to wait for that! People driving while talking on the phone - swerving all over the road, almost hitting me several times. People rushing up on my rear end. Am I supposed to go THROUGH the car in front of me?!!! And on and on!! And I'm waaay beyond menopause. It is just too busy and rushed of a world out there for me. I prefer to stay in my house these days! I've been know to say "you are welcome" - when I do something for someone and they don't thank me or even acknowledge it in any way or form. I did get a giggle yesterday. This young girl - about 16 or 18 - was holding the door for one person an then ended up holding it for the person in front of me and the person after that and then me. She was just smiling away. Too sweet. Made my day!

Love the Green Santa. I know what you mean about crowded aisles, rude loud people. I went to a shop last weekend and didn't realize they were having an open house. I usually love this shop and can spend time looking and getting ideas, but with all the people I felt all crowded and in the way, so I couldn't concentrate at all. Also several years ago I made an Angel Tree. I found little bells in a gift shop that had names on them and bought the ones with family members who were gone, including my dog's. Now I have my "It's a Wonderful Life" Angel Tree. Every year I ring every bell to make sure they still have their wings.
I guess I am an old crab as well! I truly enjoyed your post today as I sit on my husband's computer and muttering about mine that I want to kick to the curb.

PS I don't see why you can stitch the memorial piece over two; just extend the border.
It is so not you!! It is Walmart...I hate going there.
I love your new Santa but then I am partial to green.
Hugs!
I saw this post and loved the patterns and then opened my mail. This is the same pattern that I just bought off of Ebay or Etsy! And you are doing the green one which drew my eye right away! There was one book listed on ebay or etsy and the person wanted near 50$ for it. With this new book and the other 4 or 5 I have I can do without a 50$ book! I'll just change the colors or whats in Santa's bag and they can all be different! You have such good ideas! I am reading back through your blog and have learned so much already. Your finishing ideas for the Santas and for other needlework is going to come in handy and I want to thank you so much for being a blog to "learn" from!
Well, whatever the cause it's not just you Marly, the lack of manners, civility and just plain, ol' common sense these days drives me to distraction. I can't even venture into a WalMart these days for fear of what I will witness (not to mention what I would say or do!). Love the new Santa and the memorial stitchery is a wonderful idea. So sorry to hear of the accident, what a senseless loss. Hard {{hugs}} from Deb (Another old school crab)
