Hiya. I received a few emails questioning my fusspotiness on the horses. It's because I have issues. Many issues. Some related to aging, some to hormones, some to bitchdom, some to personality. Is issues a kinder sounding word than quirks? Take your pick. And before I show the horse's ass, I have a question. Am I the only one that ends up throwing packaging across the room? I get so angry at the boxes containing my snack bars and klondikes. The first flap is bad enough, but the two little end flaps won't give up, they hold on for dear life, and I end up ripping those ears and the remaining flap into shreds and throwing them while grinding my teeth even shorter. I keep the ice cream treats in the basement freezer as a worthless deterrent, and the husband will sometimes come up the stairs and ask "what happened down there?" Am I doing something wrong or do the packaging people fear a bar may escape?

For as much as I've studied this, I just saw another difference. The white spot on the head is actually a spot, not an eye and the black is part of the mane. Hmm. Am I being too fussy? Of course I will say no, but I am. They are both fine and dandy stallions. So hard to visualize it stitched when looking at a piece of paper with x's which is why the changes came after. A huge help would have been the #%&*#!% colored pencils that are misplaced. Now about that large center leaf. I was really torn between using 924 and 500. My fabric started more blue and the choice was 924, but after the walnut dip and a little more teal, the lighter blues weren't as nice and I chose the 500. But was it the right one? Each looks good in certain lights, and not good in others. I seriously doubt that I will change it at this point. (sigh) I miss my alphabets.
I was so glad to read your comments about your benders! I thought I was the only mad yanker. Whew! You really made me feel better. These new needles are bending more easily than my old favorites so I need to make notes for future projects. If it looks like a battle may ensue, I will know which needle will win the war and which will surrender.
The sun is out and the fierce wind is giving my cathedral bell wind chimes a workout. I love it.
The brats are out and about enjoying some fresh air but next week's forecast may bring them back in. My brother happened to stop by when they were napping and since he is always taking care of strays and his own, I asked him to help with delivering worm pills. Missy tore me up pretty bad but we got it down. Nitzy went berserk and we failed. I need a new pill popper after that. They don't seem to have much to grab at the scruff so he used other techniques. Eventually, I'll get Nit. Squeak and Bud are butting and rubbing heads so I think they're finally accepting each other. Missy swats him whenever possible, and although he pulls away I still pet him.
Back to the races!
Back to the races!
Enjoy your weekend ~ thanks for visiting.

I like both your horses better than the ones on the original piece.
I dislike packaging that doesn't open easy as well. I end up getting cardboard cuts or ripping the boxes to pieces trying to get in.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I'm with you all the way on those boxes that won't open! I have one of those box knives and just use it cause I will ruin the box anyway, saves my sanity (what little I have left after menopause).I really love the last horse you did, have to agree with Robin they are both better than the original.Sure don't envy you having to get worm meds down a cats throat!
Fusspotiness is a quirk, not an issue lol you seem to be a perfectionist (well, a lot of us are!) but it's all to good result - both horses look better than the originals (I sound like an echo!).
I totally love reading your blog! I've gotten many good ideas from it and learned so much. I wonder if you would address a problem I have...carpel tunnel syndrome. Has this been a problem for you at all and what have you found works to alleviate the symptoms &/or pain? Does any one else get this from stitching? With this cold snowy winter I have been stitching much more than my usual schedule so the cpt is worse...pain up to my elbow this year!

That is neat to know Squeak is finally fitting in.
I like your current horse (the one on the right). One thing I don't like about the original is the white spot on the face. It makes it look like there's threads missing.
As for cats and pills, my little girl foams at the mouth and drools anytime you try to push something down your throat. She's also the mistress of the fake swallow. (you see her gulp, you swear the pill went down but nope, back up it comes in a moment or two).
Her brothers don't like pills either - we have to grab blankets and turn them into kitty burritos before we can get pills into them. At least they haven't mastered the drool and/or fake swallow techniques yet!
I know what you mean about packaging. With me it is bags of flour. That stinking little glue strip they put on there never allows the bag to open cleanly resulting in a huge tear which then sends the flour in all directions when you attempt to pour it out. I am past menopause, but I can still complain with the best of them.
Don't even get me started on cuts from uncooperative packaging! My throwing has slowed down considerably now that my mom needs me to open bottles, jars, boxes and containers for her. Yes, I still get super frustrated with the packaging, but I can't have my little fit in front of my mother, lol.
I like your version of the horses and wouldn't change them. The originals just seem "off" to me.
I so love how this is coming out! Are you charting from a picture? Where did you get the picture from?? So beautiful! (I break the eye of my needles. Haven't bent them yet.)
OMG, Marly! Thanks for the laugh because that is better than screaming. Of course they package those ice cream bars like they're protecting Ft. Knox! If they don't those damn things will all escape and jump one right after another down your throat!!!:) And you just like things your way, nothing wrong with that....
love love your horses.....
and thanks for your blurb about the packaging...ditto. I certainly needed a chuckle today.....viv
Oh Girlfriend...you are so me....or I am so you...One of the two or both. There....how's that for "issues"? (And, BTW, I think "quirk" is much more flattering than "issue," but then, again, I used to work with a building of social workers. But I digress....I adores your horses' asses...and the rest of them....The only change I would make is I would have put your most recent version on the left....because I'm partial to left. Ok....I think I'm revealing too much here....Time to bid you well....Stay warm....We've had a blizzard every other day since Monday...I can barely see out our windows anymore....And now we're back to brutal, frigid, cold. No wonder I'm crazy. Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (PS - I'm still puzzling over that cat puzzle.....)
I love your horses ! have a good day
I like your horses better, especially the nose on the right.
I had a fight with packaging yesterday and now have a cut UNDER my fingernail.
You are so good to your cats! I once had to remove a cat from one of those sticky traps. It was horrible. We wrapped the cat in a thick towel (he was wild) to remove it. It was the only way to keep from getting clawed and bitten.
I really like them both and will be anxious to see the final result!
Sheesh!!...Whether you call it fusspotishness or issues, you've definitely got them...haha. Take a chill-pill and enjoy the process of CCS. The horses (and leaves, etc.) looked fine months ago. To my eye, the horse on the right now has a "snout" instead of a nose....hmmm.
I don't each Klondikes or any ice cream so I can't relate to boxes....but throwing them??? YIKES!
I love how your sampler is turning out - gorgeous! I would love it if you would explain the process you took to chart this. Thanks!
I am like you when it comes to packaging. I dread to open some of them, (well, ALL of them) and always wonder what kind of hell, I mean difficulties I will have in getting to the actual item I purchased. Then as I am fighting with knives and scissors and teeth to open something I get to thinking about all of the cost that goes into the packaging and what a waste of resources and the jack in prices because of this **** packaging and then I have to calm down...until the next time. Menopause beats all!!!
