Greetings! The weekend is already here - hope it's a good one for you.
Just wanted to share a few crappy beat up items I found. The first is a slanted old wooden mail box with full lid and rusted strap hinges. Probably not too old but I like it anyway. I have a thing for boxes.

While I was playing with it, I thought the sampler might look better on the underside of the lid, and the box filled with smaller pieces, dried oranges, or gourds. I also found this very long and thin sliding lid box that had a label at one time. Another dirty crappy piece that makes my sister nuts. Really? I've seen your upstairs lady!!

My husband is at a retirement get together for a co-worker. The man owns a large piece of property and like many around here, became an overnight millionaire. His royalties alone on the ten gas wells will be anywhere from $100 to $1000 per well per day. They told him to expect around $3000 - $5000 per day but he turned 65 and was planning to retire regardless.
As for the bag I showed last post, I may email The Attic and see if they would like it for their breast cancer auction. The samplers I no longer cared for and sold, were stitched on linen and custom framed. One went for $10. I should have kept the frames!

Lots of rain and darkness added to the cold temps and yep, possible snow showers.
I'll be working on boxes this weekend for sure!

Marly, I like your box finds. Your stitching looks great with the slanted lid one. Sorry that your favorite quilt shop is closing! Love the fabrics that came home to live at your house.

I like the boxes. I have a thing for old worn wooden too boxes. I guess because they remind me of my Dad. Wow, unbelievable income for the retirement guy! What state does he live in where the oil wells are? Just curious.

Our quilt shop closed last year too. I would love an oil well or two. ;)
With what samplers are costing to frame, its a shame your's sold for only $10. I imagine you wished you had given it away to a close friend.
Re. the closing of the quilt store: Samplerlover sent me a website that has beautiful Civil War fabrics. I'm so thankful for the web. You can find almost anything on it.
I just love those boxes. The way you use your needlework is so creative! I love it!
I like the sampler on the interior of the lid. Filled with other samplers and trinkets it will be a gorgeous accent piece. So sad about the quilt shop. I hope you can find somewhere else to get the fabrics you like.

Love those boxes..and ofcourse your stitching just completes them perfectly. I know what you mean about the quilt shop closing....have lost a fabulous cross stitch shop and a quilt shop in the past few years. So sad to see them go. Have a great weekend.

That's a great idea about the bag you were thinking of selling. It's a great cause as you know, and I know Jean would be so pleased to receive it too! I would be! Love your new box and how you've arranged it. Bummer on the quilt shop. My local quilt shop closed years ago -- I still miss it terribly. :(
Love your boxes and the way your planning with the sampler on the inside of the lid.
My quiltshop closed some years ago and now I've to drive almost an hour to go to the next quiltshop.

You are such a creative stitcher! The Attic's auction IS a great solution! We have at least two quilting shops around the area... one is about 15 minutes away, and the other last fall the farthest one moved locations and is now within WALKING distance of my home!! I've only been in once, but... still, it is so close now! Pretty neat!
