Hiya. How many of you have a display or corner for enjoying your Christmas stitchery all year long? My friend's mom used to have a tiny bedroom with a television atop a dresser, one large comfy chair, and a large corner hutch. The wallpaper border had some red in it, the large chair was red piped in tan, and the walls and hutch were filled with her Christmas stitches. It became her stitching room, the dresser drawers held her linens and threads, and it was a place she retreated to even when she wasn't stitching. When I entered the room, I didn't feel it was Christmas, just a cheerful room. I've considered doing a display in my sewing room but there is no organization or plan at this point. Maybe one day? The other bedroom is filled with fat quarters and fabrics in a chest with the rest strewn about. Every year when I put these pieces away to be hidden for 10 months, it's a real shame. I love these guys! But once again, their room is not ready and my procrastination skills continue to be honed.
These are the pieces that were never even put out this year. I kept thinking things would settle down and we would feel like celebrating the Holiday and would decorate then. Today I decided it's time to pack them. I don't use tissue paper around them because I usually tear through the box to see if I have that design or gave it away. This year I tore everything apart looking for the cardinal pillow, finally went back to the blog to check and yep - gave it away! I need to keep a notebook. My sister in law had every single piece she ever stitched, fabric color, count, thread, date, and where it went.
and then realized I didn't even finish the three designs I made in 2014. Before the box is put away, I should do that. Never got around to stitching a few more of Pineberry Lane's free design that I just adore, but maybe it's best to save it for next year. Hopefully, next year will be the first time in three years that everyone will be healthy and not hospitalized!
I know it's morbid, but am I the only one that wonders if I'll be here next year? Will I get to enjoy my Christmas projects in 2015? Whenever I put away seasonal clothes, I wonder if I will be pulling them out again. I know they won't fit but that's a different story. I've been packing away capris every year, expecting that next year I will be thinner and get to wear them. But the spread between the sizes grows larger just as my rear does and my addiction to sweets is worse than ever.
I haven't started Abe yet because I want to finish Harriet. I chose my favorite 632 for the red. Anxious to get these completed and move on. My side is killing me and I can't get comfortable to sit for very long. Probably pulled a muscle or something. I took an adjustable padded strap off a travel bag and plan on strapping Carole in tomorrow. She's never come out of the chair but it may help the bounce when I hit a bump. Should get a standard wheelchair instead of our transport type with those small wheels.
Enjoy the coming week, stay safe and healthy.
Thanks for visiting.

I have a wall downstairs where I always have a large Christmas picture, it just seems such a shame that they are out for so little time and so much work goes into sewing them. x
This year I decided to keep some of my favorite Halloween designs up all year. I just hung them in the craft room and I feel good every time I go in there. The room may be a bit of a mess, but the walls look great.
Harriet is coming along nicely! What about hanging a garland around a window frame and pinning (or clothespin) some of your favorite Christmas pieces to it?

They look adorable packed away. The story about the capris made me laugh. We all have those. You have some really cute pieces.
I hope you sister is okay and that your side will heal quickly. Love all of your santas together! I always find there's a bit of remorse packing my Xmas stitching away too. Harriet is looking good!
Marly, what a great idea, it does always seem sad to put away our gorgeous Christmas stitching.
I have my stitching out all year round ... hung up from various hangers around my now craft room ... can't wait to move into my bigger and better hopefully one :) love the designs you have been packing away and don't mention rear ends ..lol
love the ones you are working on at the moment too .. and yes as I get older I do wonder how much more stitching time I have left ... love mouse xxxx
I understand that 'niggling' thought that surfaces all too often. I did face that fact that the chocolate won, the capri's lost last year. I did so little decorating this year for similar reasons and I decided firmly that this rotten life crap is over. Officially. I am inspired by you and other bloggers who do such fine work and share it all around. It will get better, eventually. I keep repeating that. I hate the transport chairs as well, I almost rolled husband into traffic recently. The dentist and his staff got a bit of a chuckle that day.
Hi Marly, I think that is a great idea. Yes, kinda sad to put such beautiful stitchery away. Christmas went way to fast.Blessings Francine.
HI There, I always admire your stitching and my
eye went straight to the Christmas pear! Love
all of it, especially the pear. OK I have to
respond to the scary thoughts that creeps in.
I helped my husband and my mother through
illnesses and it has taken me a long time to
get to a better frame of mind. All of the dr.
visits, tests, waiting for results, etc. takes it's
toll on the whole family that we love so much.
Sounds like your sister is getting better.
Just keep stitching and walk your butt off.
Hope this helps a little bit. Julia
Love all your Christmas stitcheries!!!
I have a few that I leave out all year ~ yours are gorgeous!
Your pieces are all gorgeous, even when you are packing them away. I hope Carol stays strapped in her chair this time. Take it easy.
Hi Marly, hope your side will be better soon! As for the stitchery I made and how I control which of them I still possess and which I gave away as presents: each time I finish one, I take a photo and safe it in a special file on the computer. I have files for various themes, and for presents, too. The jpg I then name "year + month + design name + to whom I gave it". So I always can look up where a stitched piece should be. :-) I have season files, too, and I can quickly see, where for instance a Christmas ornament is or should be (I copy a pic to various files, for example a xmas ornie I copy to the xmas file plus to the file of presents for others...).

Next year you'll enjoy surely !! throw away these bad thoughts !!
a hug!
(sorry for my english)
I love all of them stitches so much..
Big hugs xx
Marly, your stitching is oh so fantastic...sampler is coming along nicely too. Blessing for continued healing....
I packed my PS Santas away, but now I'm thinking about getting them out and putting them where I can see them.. I keep my pears around to enjoy.. I, also, click on your Stitcher's Christmas spot to enjoy your work anytime I want to.
I know the feeling about the "wondering what if". My Dad used to say "you never know what will happen in the next five minutes". I guess we need to try to enjoy the life we have and don't worry tooooo much about the future.. It's hard, sometimes, to do that.
I have another "seventyish" birthday coming up in a few days. I wish I could reverse the numbers..
Take care of Marly and Carole.. Mark too. He's a "keeper" so it sounds.
Praying that this coming Christmas will be a whole lot more enjoyable.

I just clicked on your featured spot about your Santa tree. That would be a good place to display your Santas all year just like you do your samplers on the wall. Just a thought.

It is good too know I am not alone in distressing and sad thoughts of not finishing stitches due to not enough years. And then last week was told I have a mass on my ovary and I wait now for surgery and blood work. Our world spins whether we are ready for it or not. And then I think of Jesus and the agony he went through and choose to be with Him if I can't be with the ones I love forever on earth. Til I leave I have your stitching to try to catch up to! Today I saw more Christmas stitching I would like to do. Love your new blog heading!
Your stitchings are lovely, Marly.
You have been spending a large amount of time encouraging and "being there" for loved ones who are sick. That would make anyone begin to question 'will I be here next season'.
Enjoy each day and try to stay in the moment. If you think to hard about the "what ifs" of next year - you will steal the joy of today !

I think you should devote a corner in one of your rooms and display these pretties in a bowl and basket..... Who says we can't enjoy them throughout the year..... May good health and happiness triumph in 2015, my friend!!
Sadly, most of mine get put away. I do try to display seasonal stitched pieces, although I don't have many for seasons other than Christmas/winter.
I feel so much like you...I love Christmas and especially this year when I packed things away I wonder if I will ever get them out again next year. I have made every one of the annual Prairie Schooler Santa's at least once but only have two to show for it - I give them away - especially to my sister-in-law. She is the only person who I know truly appreciates them. Both my parents passed in their sixties and I definitely worry/think about this more and more the further into my sixties I get. I'm really not morbid about it it just seems like it doesn't leave my mind. I would love to leave some of the Santa's out all year but that would bring on comments especially from my husband!
What a wonderful collection .. best wishes for healing. Time just needs to sloooowwww down..
It's a wonderful idea to keep all your pretties out...I know how much effort goes into stitching them, and it is always sad to put them up! Your box does look very neat and organized, though! Mine are thrown into a box...not so nicely! I love reading what others do, also, in these comments. I realize that I need to be more organized and have a plan.
I love your story about your friend's mom--that room must have been such a fun place!
Thank you for posting this..it has given me much food for thought!!!
I always feel a bit sad when I put my ornaments away each year, but that makes them all the more special each December when I pull them out of hiding and display them again! I just loved seeing the pile of Santas, Marly--and you have them packed away so neatly!
Great idea for the strap for Carole--precious cargo there :) Hope you feel less achy very soon...
Love all of your ornaments; you do such beautiful work. I like the idea of having a room or a spot that you can leave them out to enjoy all year long. I have not taken my Christmas tree down yet, and I turn the lights on every day and am still enjoying them; I will get around to taking it down one of these days. In the meantime, I am truly enjoying it. Do you know the designer and pattern name of the Santa with the miniature items stitched on his red suit? It was the one put in the box on top. I would like to find it to stitch if you have any info on it. Thanks, and hold on to happy thoughts for each day..................
I know what you mean about putting all the stitched Christmas items away. I do keep a few things out year round to enjoy. It is always exciting to get the rest out when the season rolls around again. And yes, I know the capri story all too well also! Hope things will get better for Carole too.

Why put your Christmas stitchery away at all? If it makes you happy and gives your spirits a lift, then I say go ahead and adorn every corner! They're too lovely to pack up.
Always sad to un-decorate :( But your new stitches are quite lovely!! :)
I've just found your blog. I cross stitched many, many years ago and am just getting back into it. I love your stitcheries - I've looked back a bit. I'm wondering where I could find Pineberry Lane free patterns. I tried searching but had no luck. blessings, marlene
