A close call and a long post

Thanks for your compliments on Lori's heart.  I really like it and found the perfect fabric for the bag's back.  Once in a while I buy the discontinued decorator fabric swatches at JoAnn's and this one is a heavy cotton blend of a red with the leaves' 734 in the weave.  I added a strip of it to the top of the lining so the red would show as an accent instead of the muslin.
There was a close call with the fabric.  I needed to mist the top edge to press the hem over, and it bled onto the ironing board cover.  If I would have misted the back and pressed with the stitching beneath, it would be ruined.  I usually dampen fabric and never imagined that upholstery or decorator fabric would bleed so easily.  Lesson learned.  The medium weight interfacing along with the heavier fabric holds it nicely.  Mylar would have been used beneath the lining if it needed more body.  For the strap  (stained with walnut to darken), I used a soft flat woven braid that is folded.

And here's my group of bags, pouches, and sacks.  I think I have a few more, but I'm lucky I know where these are so I'm not going to push it.

This is the result of the dark brown hair coloring.  If  I lift the mess, that gray goes all the way to the top.  I'm thinking I could start a new trend of a back bottom band of color, or BBBC.  It's not as bright silver as it was, has a little bit of a taupe cast, but still stands out since the front is very dark.  Is this what's called defiant resistant gray?  My hair is thick and thin, curly and straight, soft and wiry.... a little bit of everything depending on the area.  Very weird.  My hairdresser started using women's Rogaine foam on her top front and she can't believe how thick it's become.  It took two months to see a difference and she's very pleased and surprised at the results.

Nitzy is driving us nuts with his nuts.  It sounds like a bowling alley in there.  I moved my cloved pears from the hutch to a pan resting in a bucket since the littlest brat was swatting them, and look where she is now.  She must like the smell.  They are really getting wild and although they don't want to go outside, they are tired of being cooped up and starting to get destructive, even fighting with one another.  Constantly jumping over the barrier and then running - upstairs, into the basement, under the furniture.  My Squeak has not been here for weeks.  Oh no.  I just heard wild boy Nit slide into the litter box.  I think I have a mess to clean up.  Again.  Spring will be more welcome this year for a multitude of reasons!

Can anyone tell me why many of the comments are not coming through to my email?  I have it set for all comments to be transferred to my inbox, but I just checked again and many are not.  Not in spam, not in junk folders, not anywhere.  And they are from readers that have commented and were transferred before.  I think most of them are from aol.com, not sure if this is a coincidence.  I wonder how many I've missed in prior posts.  Been having trouble with creating posts too.  Whenever I hit enter to start a new line, it goes into the Link mode.  Weird.

I planned on getting out today to do a little shopping and hopefully find comfortable shoes for the Clinic walking.  Yesterday my cartilage moved again and I couldn't put weight on that leg so I stayed in, it's much better today, but it's snowing again.  Because of my neck I won't drive in the snow or ice, and because of my knee I am afraid of walking on it too.  Good grief I'm an old lady.  Forty years ago I would walk across an icy parking lot with 4" mules after a few drinks.  Now I can't even walk in 2" closed pumps on dry pavement.  I drove a metallic sports car that was close to the ground, now I have a much higher car in bright yellow so I can find it in the parking lot.  I even forgot my blogging anniversary.  Four years on Valentine's Day.  My mind is over occupied these days, may have to have a giveaway when I return.  Do you know how many I've had over the years?  I'll have to go back and check.  I noticed that the older posts done with Windows Vista are wonky, misaligned, goofy.   Long post, huh?  Time to go put on my I'm crabby sweatshirt and live up to it, which won't be hard.  It's snowing.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Thanks for visiting.

Love love love the bags. You are always so kind in sharing what you make. They are just superb. Now your hair! I am so lucky (depends on which way you look at it) but I'm 67 (will be 68 at the end of April) and I'm still not gray (can't believe it). But I know from friends that are that if you dye your hair a reddish color (okay not red but with red in it) it hides the gray very well. I wanted to be blond but I can't because of the dark roots. So I"m still having (can't remember what you call them in the States) streaks are what they are called here in England - I've just lived here too long.

Oh Marly, I love the picture with your bags, pouches and sacks. Sorry the brats are misbehaving. Hopefully, Squeak is safe and sound out there.

Love all your hanging pouches, especially the one with the feathers.
Oh, this getting old is not for sissies. My DSO ordered me some spikey things to put on my boots since I've fallen 3 or 4 times this winter walking the dog. Thankfully only one time did I hurt myself. Do I remember to put those spikey things on? I'm guessing you know the answer :)
Snowing here again.
Hugs :)

I really like your collection of bags. I have a grouping of small quilts in my dining room but I think I might change that up with some bags - when I have enough cross stitch finishes to make them. :) I've heard others complain about not getting e-mails from comments. I don't know the reason for sure but the last time blogger made some changes that 'I'm not a robot" thing appeared and won't go away, and the comments were somehow affected as well. Blogger doesn't always play nice with Wordpress so it might be that AOL doesn't either. blessings, marlene

I love your bags! They turned out great. Thanks for the comment on woman's rogaine. I may have to give it a try on my thinning hair.

Your new bag is great! As for your almost oops, I have to say that the fabric from JoAnn's is awful. Most of what I buy from there now runs when pre-soaked. I have better luck with fabric from WalMart!

Be kind to yourself, please. I was a caregiver for eight years, and I found it such a strain, not just on my body, but on my mind. When a loved one is ill and you are responsible for them and their appointments, it takes a real toll.

Your bags are lovely and the grouping is wonderful! How nice!!
I'm laughing about the hair dye, too! I'm only gray around my face...the back is still "normal". So, I use root touch-up around my face! What a pain!!
It does get my gray covered well It says to leave it on for 10 minutes or 15 if you're stubborn gray, so I leave mine 20 and it works!!!! I never thought gray could be anything other than stubborn.....

Marly, your display of stitched bags is beautiful.. I believe that the LOVE one is my favorite.
So happy, for you, that the red didn't bleed on the LOVE side.
I may have to try the Rogaine. Thanks for the information about your hair dresser..
Nitzy is a beautiful kitty.. Am hoping that Squeak is safe somewhere and that he'll be back to see you. This weather has to be hard on the deer and other wildlife.
Take your time walking on the snow and ice. I hope it will be gone by the time you have to go to Cleveland. Thinking of you and saying prayers !

So lovely, I think you made the perfect choice in the shape of the bag. How annoying that the fabric ran, even upholestry fabric needs to be washed sometimes, especially if you use it to make cushions. x

Your collection of stitched bags is so charming, Marly! I do believe this last one is my favorite...

I have the exact same problem with comments not going through to my email. They do appear on my blog, but don't come through to my gmail account so I can't reply easily. I got online and found this: http://run-a-roundranch.blogspot.com/2015/02/comments-from-yahoo-and-aol-email-users.html

It appears to be a problem with only people using AOL or yahoo emails who are commenting on our blogs. This is the first week it's happened to me--very frustrating indeed!!

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love your bags; all of them! I am going to have to figure out a place in my house that I can do something like that. Of course, I have to stitch and finish the bags first! LOL. I always enjoy reading your blog - you make me laugh, sometimes have tears, and provide me with inspiration. About your hair, I have worn wigs for years due to thin hair. The one that I get the most compliments on is mostly blonde on top and sides, then it gradually goes to a brunette in the back. I am naturally a brunette so I never thought I would be able to wear a wig with blonde in it. I noticed some of your other gals who comment mentioned thinning hair, so I will just recommend PaulaYoung.com if they should wish to check out the wigs. The good thing is that you can send them back as long as you don't cut the tag off or wear them. They will exchange or refund your money. We are supposed to get rain, ice, and snow here in Kansas this weekend; not looking forward to that!! Hang in there and take care of yourself. Thinking of you...............

Your collection of bags is wonderful! From the pic, I think your hair looks fine. I think everyone has cabin fever. They are talking more snow/ice/rain again this weekend. I'm sick of it. I looked ahead and it's the same schedule of snow for next week too. I think Mother Nature is stuck on repeat.

Love all of you pouches. I cannot pick a favorite! Your posts are always so entertaining. I cannot imagine you truly need a crabby sweatshirt! More snow for us tonight and into tomorrow. So ready for warmer temps.

Love the bags!

I have noticed that when I comment on your blog (an others) I am getting a delivery failure notice in my email that my email was rejected. I'm sure it has to do with the DMARC thing that all the email providers are using to prevent the spam emails. Too bad I don't know how to fix it.
