The Bird

Good morning.  Had to get a hotel room last night, there are no available hospital rooms.  She is still in ICU, on the verge of another psychosis issue, still talking to imaginery people and having vivid talking dreams.  She needs to get out of there before today's surgical patients and their equipment come in.  The man across that she sees every minute, is on life support and she hasn't seen daylight, walked, or spoken with anyone but me.  No phones of course.  I can see how this is a detriment to patients trying to recover from anesthesia effects.  Mark, who has the current coughing bug, is coming to get me today.  I ran out of my meds, clean underwear, and I'm exhausted.  She hasn't been in a room all week where I could sit with her so I've been in lounges and wandering.  The hotel rates next to the clinic have run around $1500 so far, not including the $2 bottle of water and meals.  I see why so many are sleeping in the lounges!
Edit - just talked to the nurse and Carole is throwing up, warm, not feeling well at all, not sure what's going on.  Staying again?
I finished the mustard blue bird.  Certainly looks like a Nash, but all I had was bits and pieces plus a smeared photo (dogs love Nash too).  Some of it I had to work from the photo.  It's on the same shade of blue ironing board from the hotel.  For $300 a night, I'm using everything in it.
Hope your day is fabulous.

Pretty bird. I feel so bad that you have to endure this along with your dear Sister. Long hospital stays are so tedious, hope you both can get home soon. my thoughts and prayers.

Marly, I'm thinking of you. That's awful what you've had to spend for a hotel room. I'm glad you have stitching to occupy you. I hope Carol improves and they will be able to move her into a regular room. Take care.

I am sure you must be exhausted, not good for you . Lets all hope Carole is out of ICU soon ! Sending good thoughts your way. I like you, would use everything the hotel has to offer at that price. Adorable bird, lets hope he is the Bluebird of Happiness.......

Oh, Marly, so sorry to hear of Carole's setback. You must be getting exhausted, which could easily lead to discouragement. Hang in there. You have a lot of friends praying for all of you!

As though your family hasn't endured enough~~~~It seems unethical to charge so much for people to stay near love ones while they are so ill!!!! (More like plain ole greed!!!) My heart & prayers are going out to all of you. We all hope to see good news SOON!!!!! Hugs Sher

So sorry to hear of all the problems both you and Carole are enduring. Know that there are many people praying for you and hoping that things will improve drastically and very soon. Stitching is a wonderful diversion and your blue bird is adorable. May God's blessings be upon all of you.

The psychosis is very scary to see, but it may well be short-term and resolve, as it did with my mother after 2 weeks. I so hope things look up sooner rather than later. ...jan

If Carole has had morphine that may explain what she's seeing. I had it when I had surgery in 2000 and saw little men in top hats and model T fords at the end of my bed.. I know just getting out of the ICU would be good medicine for her. Being in the ICU is depressing without feeling badly.
I'm sorry that you're in such a dilemma. My heart goes out to you.
Your new stitched piece is wonderful. Stitching is good therapy for me and I hope it is for you too.
Know that you and your family are in my hopes and prayers.
Hugs, Charlotte in Va.

I spent many a night in an ICU lounge while my mother struggled to survive. NOt the greatest option but good to now everyone else was in the same "boat". Hang in there.
Have them check the pain meds - My mom and husband both had strange reactions to various pain meds.

I wish I lived closer so you could stay at my house. Hotels are outrageous - you would hope they would help families with sick. Thinking of you often.

Hotels are so expensive. I'm so sorry things are so up in the air. Continued prayers for Carol and for you.

I wish you both were here at our hospital as they have a small family area right in the patient's room. You need that. Time for them to step up their game I should say! And your game is spot on with that bird! Love it and love the colors. Still haven't started on your pattern for the bag yet. I am going to change all of the colors and do it on a 32 count. This isn't your style but I am going to do it in colors that go with your bird. Pastels! Yikes! I know it isn't your style, no pink for you, but I am a Mary Poppins kind of girl. God bless you both with strength to overcome this current situation.
