Sitting here waiting for her new room, scarfing down Dove at 35 cents a piece, thankful that these glass walls are unbreakable. A tablet hurled from this height could hurt someone.
I have been anxious to start using linen in dark rich shades, grabbed a piece of mustard brown that I dyed a while back, added some bright colors to it for a change. I followed the same method of stitching (which I call the side-and-climb) for the bird, filling the entire area with left/right rows for the first half and then up/down rows for the second half. Before, my rows were noticeably tight and direction was obvious because of it. This method will make my blocks of stitching uniform, neat, and even, and a house design look much better.

I am so happy to hear that Carole is improving. Nice stitching. It is snowing in NY...expecting 6 inches by morning...I love the white stuff but am still looking forward to spring in 19 days!!!

Thinking of you and how lucky your sister is to have you hovering like a chocolate-fueled angel. I have to note that--not being much on chocolate--I had a brief moment of wondering where you could get Dove soap for 35 cents and why you'd eat it. I know--wash my mouth out (with Dove). Odd lack of night and day in the hospital, isn't it?
Maybe the expensiveness of the Dove presently will help you break the habit?
So glad she is moving to a room to share with you. Still praying.♥

The waiting is so difficult. Wait for the doctor, wait for the room change, wait for meal times, wait for lab work....wait, wait, wait! You appear to e spending your time very wisely. Best to your Sister and to You! How are the kitties holding up?

I'm not sure there is a more alone feeling than the one you get in a hospital where you are surround by strangers....caring strangers, but still strangers. For several years I was a volunteer chaplain at a local hospital. I went once a week and visited everyone on a list they gave me. I'm not sure how they made up the list - perhaps they were the same denomination as me plus some who didn't list a denomination. Didn't matter because when someone is sick all that goes by the wayside. I'm betting that there will be no denominations in Heaven. :) I love my IPad but there is no way I want to be without my laptop for an extended period. IPads leave a lot to be desired - okay from some things but not all. Your stitching is beautiful. Since I'm only recently back to cross stitching I'm not sure I follow what you're saying about left to right and up/down but maybe I do...I'm doing some experimenting to see what works best for me and I find your directional differences to be an inspiration for that. blessings, marlene

I'm glad you feel surrounded by friends from your blog. I know well the scared and alone feeling when staying with a loved one in the hospital, but being there for them when they feel even more alone and being their advocate is invaluable to you both. ...jan

I'm so relieved to read that Carole is doing better, Marly! How great that you can stay in the same room with her, too--I've never heard anything but praise about the Cleveland Clinic... You're lucky to live so close.
Glad your stitching is helping you pass these long days of waiting and helping your stress level (well, with just a bit of help from Dove!).
