Greetings folks. Have I started another project? Nope. Why? Slumpola. The longer I wait, the worse it gets, but I had another issue. I was using my heat gun with the metal extension, trying to correct the warped box lids. This time, I was in a different room and forgot where the cord was, walked into it, and grabbed the metal part of the gun as it was falling. The burn was really not as bad as I expected, the scream was no higher than my usual, and the healing was pretty quick. It's fine and I can certainly start another sampler this weekend. But which? A little freebie? I have many small marking sampler charts and yet a few very large projects are calling my name but it doesn't sound like marly. Might be a clue that they're calling someone else.
When I was posting my seven days of samplers on Facebook, I also showed my smalls and fell in love with them all over again. Especially this tiny Scottish Initial Sampler from Chessie & Me. I've found that years ago, over one was not a deterrent as you can see in the first row.
I want to thank you for the uplifting comments about my blogging anniversary. Your kind words and friendship are cherished. For my anniversary giveaway, ten bucks for each year, a $50 gift certificate. I will probably give you a few shop options as I did before because places like Nordic Needle offer storage chests, quilting, sewing, just about everything (not everyone prefers cross stitch). But maybe I will choose one shop and stick to it like people that have focused fogless brains do. I will think long and hard and post the official giveaway notice either tomorrow or Sunday. Do not post about it to others - this is for my readers and followers.

Ouch, Marly! Sounds exactly like something I would do. OMG, yes! I'm stitching something over one now and it was not nearly so challenging a few years ago. Grrrrr......
I like your small that you shared. I vote for a small marking sampler. Sorry about the burn; happy to hear it is healing. Enjoy your weekend!

Oh my! sounds painful! Put a little salve on the burn and take two Dove chocolates (at least) every hour!

I'm sorry to hear that you've had more pain to endure. You've sure had your share of all kinds of that stuff.
I enjoyed seeing all of your samplers on Facebook. They made Facebook worth looking at ! Your small one is sweet.
I'm working on another PS Santa and it has been the most difficult of any I've done. Don't know what my problem is. It's the Noah's Ark one. I started one, made a mess and had to start all over again. I could soooo sit down to a whole cake w/ice cream and a fork !

Marly, I follow you and assume others do too, because I look forward to seeing what you're up to and love being a part of your day. You share ideas and findings and needlework and boxes and patterns and so much more. I have copied your ideas (just finished stitching SPOT-your way). Have to "finish" but have to be in the mood since I'm NOT a machine stitcher. This is all to say how generous you are - thank you for your blog...look forward to another 5 years and more!!!
Those hot gun burns can be terrible. I once had a finger that was seriously burned. I understand the "what do I do next" feeling....have a great weekend

Sorry for your burn - glad it's healing well. Grabbing the business end of a glue gun sounds like something I'd do. I know the feeling of all the projects calling me. Funny how I never have a problem hearing the chocolate or the ice cream. They're always clear as a bell lol!
And congratulations on five years. I know it's been a few more for my blog judging by the age of my 6 year old grandson. Cheers!

Wow! Burns can hurt so much. I love over one stitching. I am finding that while I take the muscle relaxers for this neck pressure and pain, my vision gets a bit blurry. Quite challenging. You gave me a good idea. I need to bake a cake.

I think that smalls are good. I'm in the same boat as you, love the sampler but want something quick for my attention span of a gnat.
Happy blogaversary or however that is spelled. Glad the burn is not that bad. Smalls are always nice to get back into the mood of stitching as the reward is fairly quick. Enjoy whatever stitching you decide on.
So pleased your burn is healing. They can be quite painful. I wet two flannels and put in the freezer using one at a time for a steam burn on my wrist. That worked a treat.

Ouch I feel your pain. Yesterday I was whipping up lunch for hubby and I grabbed the rolls right out of the oven without a pot holder. Hubby asked "Why" and I replied rather loudly "Menopause any other questions? I didn't think so"
I'm stitching what I thought would be a quickie but it's stretching out because I've lost my mojo as well. Having contractors banging, clanging and making a mess is about to kill me. My migraines are triggered by smells and with all the plumbing goo they are using they are about to kill me. I may actually have to flee the house when they return on Monday....wonder if Barnes and Noble will let me bring Clarice and stitch there all day.
We were burning together! I was trying to wash up some spilled soup. The problem was the the burner was still on- very dumb me! I love that little sampler!

I have slumpola too. I really have so many charts and kits I could stitch for years but just don't feel like it. I should also be seriously working on my wips, to be honest I am even considering throwing some out because now they are haunting me and I don't love them any more. x
Hi Marly, Love your stitching, keep going!!! P.S. I made the frosting you posted with your ricotta cake. I had never heard of doing that before. It was delish. I make a box dark chocolate cake and that frosting was fantastic on it.

Well I am so glad that you were not seriously burned, and that you are healing... If you are in need of freebies... Oh my do I have bunches! Tho I know you like primitives -- may not have too many of those! Apparently I do not have you as a friend on FB, so did not see that Seven Days (I will remedy that shortly!!). But I sure do like the one you've shown here, the Scottish Initial Sampler. I like samplers without people and animals... just letters and flowers/plants. My likes have slimmed down over the past couple of years, as my 'realist' attitude wins out! I know my limitations! Thanks for sharing! Big hugs!
We've been on a mission trip for 3 weeks. I'm pretty sure I've eaten cake every time they had it in the cafeteria and, consequently, have regained the 15 lbs. I lost before coming. I love this small - and the way you finished it. blessings, marlene
